Love how Coca Cola gives out recycled plastic swag while also literally being the world’s worst plastic polluter 🤪
They found a way to get paid for final round market research, incredible. Those boxes look like they're worth $5 with some tanacon level swag and contractually obliged celebrity appearances
yeah 15 dollars fro 3 drinks and some ugly merch... and some are just regular drinks in a different bottle
@@elviratornay2070 15 dollars for drinks you *cannot choose in any way* is even funnier
I assumed it must be like $5 a box to cover mailing and they must throw in some sort of coupon. This is just a scam lmao
Smallgremlin Gremlin it’s more like 7-10 to Mail it, and that’s with a discount, you are definitely being charged for shipping
@@amazingabby25 honestly idk how much US mailing costs - I don't live there
I love coke acting like they care about the environment, while still being the biggest polluter.
Fantastic way to capitalize on the recycler's market without having to actually give up anything. I saw another thread talking about this being market research that you pay for, and I honestly think that's the other side of the coin. Sustainable buyers are willing to pay more, subscription buyers are willing to take a chance, so this niche is perfect for outsourcing at the cost of the consumer to avoid public flops
The fishing industry is the worst polluter, though yeah coke is no saint
@@LannasMissingLink In terms of plastic in the oceans, the fishing industry is worse, but Coke also buys essential water reserves and poisons the surrounding ground water
@@kristenladue1395 that's very true and yes they should face consequences. I just felt it important to mention that the fishing industry is a bigger beast right now to focus on. Though both of them are insanely powerful, influential goliaths. So that likelihood that we can cause change is so low...
@@kristenladue1395 Coke is far from the worst nestle is the worst for hording water reserves.
nestle owns A stupid large water reserve right next to people who has a failing water supply because it feeds into the nestle one.
Now where i am in the world 90% of plastic bottles are recycled you pay a sum extra that you get back if you take it to a store that has a machine
The monopoly coke has on the beverage industry is coming into sharp focus
wondering how many people ordered these boxes and realized just how many drink companies coca cola owns
@@Muychachocolate I doubt any of them did. Coca Cola owns dozens of subsidiaries.
it's like disgusting almost
What amazes me is that there's a team of people who are paid to decide what drinks go into a box.. that are all available at every gas station and grocery store in North America.
it is addictive.
This seems like they’re getting paid for market research, rather than paying for people do carry out market research.
And it's not even cheap lol
I literally paused it at 1:41 seconds and said the same thing to my husband. There reason there is no date for the product drops is because depending on the reaction, the product may or may not drop.
Companies can and will repurpose everything to make cash on something they'd normally pay for. If it sounds fun enough, people will buy it. It's an interesting way to outsource market research as a product, but I don't think it's anything new. Reminds me of the people that used to do market research for games in malls that had arcades, paying kids in fun experiences rather than paying adults a wage for it
@@sh2nn0nr2wks totally - as they ask for feedback on each item via email. I liked the same ones as the vlogger, but I also got some other flavors, and they were baaaaaaad. Like awful bad. that's the major risk buying this. I got some things you couldn't pay me to drink.
Just about every interaction you make is used for market research nowadays. Its pretty horrifying.
This is just reminding me that “swag” was once a popular colloquialism
Un-ironically as well
Was just talking about this with my co worker. I visibly cringed when he brought it up.

I just here michael from the office yelling "swag 🤪" 😂😂😂

That sounds weirdly kinky to me, and I don't know why

Dropping diet coke was honestly so fucking hard. That shit is good. But for people who actually want to. I went from drinking 5-6 cans a day to 0 I haven't drink one if like 1 year and a half so it is possible.
Ah yes, Diet Coke, the drink that goes flat within several femtoseconds of you opening the can.
@@ArturGlass.C ugh how did you do it? Did you swap it out for some other sweet thing that is healthier? I've tried multiple times but I've never been successful. Its my vice.. I hardly drink and don't smoke but I cannot give up the sweet nectar
That webcam cover is a genus marketing idea for coke. If you use your laptop on a daily basis then you will be reminded of coke on a daily basis as well.

Hey Greg
Hey greg!
Who the hell is Danny, lmaoo
I live in ATL, the home of Coca-Cola. They have an entire museum dedicated to their soda, with historical references, unique soda tastings and lots and lots of propaganda for Coca-Cola. So of course my father wore a Pepsi shirt when we went. They were cool about it and pretended Pepsi didn't exist.
My sister did that and they gave her a XXL Coke shirt to cover her shirt. She’s a S and it swallowed her up.
Such a dad move I love it 😂😂
That's really funny honestly.
Most people pretend Pepsi doesn’t exist
Please do a review of “ugly” grocery items subscription boxes, or a “healthy” online only grocery like Thrive Market. EDIT: not a meal kit, I know she already did that. I mean ugly grocery services like imperfect foods.
I wasn't aware any of this existed, but I now definitely want to see these videos!!!
or hello fresh!
Thrive is great. Super great value. IMO meal kit subscriptions are way overpriced and don’t allow you to pick the quality and source of ingredients.
@@Vampress09 she already reviewed hello fresh, apparently she liked it
I get an ugly box and it's pretty good. Some of it is just surplus not even disfigured.
I can confirm that the girl scout corporation receives all of the money and the girl scout troops don't receive anything. The only funds they receive are about 10% of the sales only from the cookies the troop sells during cookie season.
My girlfriend and I were just having a conversation about this. We felt like the girls were being exploited because they’re selling cookies and seeing none of the money. Where does the money go, and in your opinion, are they being exploited? Assuming you were/are a Girl Scout.
The troops only receive 10% of sales?!?! The f
@@lindboknifeandtool Yes. I was a girl scout until last year when I graduated. I've been in girl scouts for 10 years and was cheated out of lots of opportunities. The girl scout council is not open about who receives the money from the cookie sales. The troops also do not earn any percentage of money earned from online cookie sales or sales of girl scout branded items. The money we received could also only be used for girl scout events or merchandise from girl scouts.
Girls of girls scouts receive 10 cents of every box
yeah our area sells for $4 a box now but we only make close to ¢.60 per box sold if broken down right. we aren’t really told where the rest of the money goes besides the camps and other girl scout hosted events. fucking sucks that the corp sold the rights to the cookies so all these products can be made bc our sales have dropped big time and it’s disheartening to hear customers tell you they’d rather pay for their “thin mint protein shake”
Not a fan of coca-cola products will have it every once in a while, but the idea of paying to taste their market research is genius and I respect that lol
Don’t have to like the devil to appreciate his ass-pitchforking skills. And this is coming from an avid coca-cola fanboy. They sure do know how to thrust a mean pitchfork, notgonnalie.
I still don't respect it.
I agree, it seems like "insider-labled" merch is conspicuously not the real thing. The coke logo by itself is a thing of beauty. "insider" graphic on products drags it down
How they resisted putting in some coke insider branded recycled material sunglasses in one of those boxes is beyond me. You have to hide your identity, you're a high profile target.
If you think shipping three bottles of soda directly to your door is 'more sustainable' because they're packaged in a recycled cardboard box you're missing the point...
the green washing with cocacola... remind you every 5 min that they recycle
I mean its not very sustainable but it is slightly more sustainable than if on top of shipping those bottles, they did it in non recycled boxes
@@elviratornay2070 It's so fucking annoying. Coca Cola only uses like 20 % (if at all. I'm not sure about that number) recycled materials and has never reached their goals of using 30 or 50 % recycled materials in the past when technically it should be easy for them to use more recycled materials. And then they have the audacity to tell the consumer to recycle. I hate it so much when brands put all the responsibility on the consumer. Looking at you IKEA.
@@imtired5297 you're confusing 'more sustainable' with 'not as unsustainable'...
This is hilarious to watch after watching John Oliver's vid on Plastics... The "recycling" part really sticks out...
they are trying really hard to seem eco friendly, remind you every 5 minutes about their "recycling"
I know, the amount of "personal responsibility" put on the consumer to recycle products is how they fooled us into letting them be so wasteful. Another thing is that there is a video on SciShow about The Truth on Green Grocery Bags which takes into account the manufacturing cost of tote bags. Sadly, using fabric tote bags are more harmful to the environment unless you use the same one for 40+ YEARS.
Lol, ditto 😅
@@arrikhansen4669 ahh but see tote bags are often given out for free, so if you already have one definitely keep using it. Also there is a lot to be said for keeping plastic out of the environment. Think of how many plastic bags you've seen blowing down the side of the road.
@@arrikhansen4669 I ended up buying hand crocheted shopping bags made of used plastic shopping bags. So that’ll probably be fine.
amanda defending her diet soda consumption is literally me whenever someone gives me shit for drinking red bull like i don't do drugs and rarely drink alcohol let me have this
Can we talk about all these ads Pepsi and Coke have about their recycling efforts and how they've made the bottles more "recyclable" to try to shift attention away from the fact they are one of the largest plastic producers in the world?
Coke once tried to sell bottled tap water in the UK (Desani). Except, we already have free (not including your water bill) perfectly safe, drinkable tap water out of every kitchen tap in the country. Also, it was banned by the food and drink regulator because there are very strict laws around labelling water in the UK. They couldn't use the words 'natural', 'spring', or 'mineral' because they are all protected terms. So they could basically only label it 'water' and it did so poorly that it was withdrawn from shelves.
Tldr: Coke tried to sell tap water to Brits but we said 'piss off'.
So essentially you're paying Coca Cola so they can do free market research
Coca Cola is CHARGING people to do their market research. It’s genius.
And they're making you feel good about it by emphasizing "sustainability" and "recycled goods" when it's actually less "sustainable" to send a bunch of boxes all over the place compared to just having people in a room/building testing the items as they are.
At the coke store in Disney Springs, they have a taste testing of many coca cola variations from around the world. They give it to you as a flight of drinks. I highly recommend when covid ends :)
I like your optimism.
