Ok Ethan I’m here after watching you win Tuckers giveaway, I’m so happy and excited for you. I was smiling the whole video. You definitely deserve it, I was a bit jealous of the whole experience you received. But I’m happy that it happened to you. You are the perfect person for it. Yesterday I went toured a part 141 school and they informed me all about the Aviate program. Talk about timing with this video. Once I'm done with my degree ill go right into flight school and look into this program. I was recommended to just apply once I get my PPL since they'll only test me on that content which would make it easier. Thanks for the video and I'm glad you got picked up by them.

@@Vincent12 speaking from experience or just from your echo chamber? I have a cousin who went to the same school and had no problem with it, and given where I live and my current situation it’s the best option.

@@IGrocker personal experience. ATP is great if you get a good instructor who is willing to do grounds with you and care about their students. My instructor was vaping while we would fly, would never do grounds with me (even though I asked all the time). He was super unprofessional and the lead was one of his best buddy’s. There are stories of people down in Mesa that went through 4 different instructors just during their private. I decided to leave because they were doing things that I found were unsafe, unhelpful, and weren’t responsible with my money. Ended up going to another flight school and have loved every minute there. I’ve also had friends who now work as a cfi for ATP and they hate it. Nobody really likes it but if you get lucky with your cfi and just want to get all your ratings quick, then it can be a good fit. Good luck and I wish you all the best!

@@Vincent12 thanks for the input! Sorry for being a bit snarky. I’m considering going to another school that’s in Texas (I’m in Wisconsin), but moving my family that far will be difficult to say the least. I’ve had really good interactions with them though and it’s not entirely off the table. I did a discovery flight at the Wisconsin ATP and the only thing I noticed (after I’ve been working on my private) was that the instructor rushed through the preflight. I don’t want to rush through training, but I don’t want to spend the next 3-5 years working on my ratings and getting hours if I can avoid it.

So as someone who just applied to aviate, I had a couple of questions.
    1. When you talked about united not paying for accommodations, you mentioned hotels but how about a rental car if you needed one? If you didn't need one, what transportation did you use.
    2. Was there anything that you thought you needed for the interview that wasn't listed in the interview prep guide?
    3. I know you mentioned that there wasn't really any way to see what specific questions they would ask. During the interview, was it fairly stressful or were all the questions the sort of usual "what would you do if..." questions?

UAA fosters a culture of intimidation. Many students have been let go after speaking out or complaining to hire-ups for vague reasons, and therefore students currently at the school are too scared to speak out. School management constantly has all eyes and ears open for any sign of dissent or criticism and is looking over everyone’s shoulder.

What will they expect you do at their Aviate Academy if you pretty much have all of the credentials already? Do you have to take all of the tests all over again? How does that work? Please clarify. Hey! I messaged u on Instagram but in case u don’t see it i copied it here lol. I just have a few questions
I am 19 and about to start my 2nd year of college (architecture major). This year I plan on getting my medical and PPL at a mom and pop while still in school. After that I’m not really sure if I should do the 3rd year of college or take a leap and start ATP/flight school instead.
Also do u think it’s best to finish all of ATP before doing something like UA’s aviate? Or is there a spot like midway thru the program that would be better to join at?
    Thanks in advance!

As long as you’re a good DEI candidate, you’re in. United now is all about HR (and DEI) driving everything, and HR runs the show. Gone are the days of an airline Captain scrutinizing the absolute “best” candidates for a pilot slot. Gone are the days of sitting in a simulator and being evaluated on your judgement and pilot skills . . . by an actual PILOT! Instead, the HR oriented “therapist” will ask you touchy-feely questions, and how you FEEL about being a Captain some day.
I can hear the keyboards clicking away already defending the DEI initiatives: “We hire ONLY qualified candidates.” Yes, pilot candidates and new hires are “qualified” but the flying public is unequivocally interested in pilots and pilot candidates being the “MOST” qualified . . . not just “qualified.” Your heart surgeon may have graduated med school, and is “qualified” to tear open your chest, but don’t you want the one that graduated top of his class, despite the color of his skin or his preferred pronouns?! When an engine explodes on takeoff, NO ONE in the plane is asking, “Man, I sure hope the pilots are minorities or women.”
So, have fun at United (or any of the airlines now) . . . where safety is a priority . . . but diversity and inclusion is a higher one.
