I just found out because of this video. I didn’t know he was from St. Louis either until he said Clayton I’m like wait a second Clayton, Missouri? I didn’t know!!!
JT Mom, as a single mom did one heckuva job with her son! As a single mom I appreciate others like me. I appreciate all parents, but when you’re on your own and doing it by yourself and it all comes out good is a wonderful wonderful thing❤
@@OedipusSimplexWas just about to say. The single mom’s are going to try to run with it but naaaahhh. his dad was there too, his dad was actually his coach and pushed him hard. His mom only calls herself single mom because they did not live together as a couple.
I'm a Knicks fan so rooting for a Celtic is always difficult, but as a man and as a player I respect him a lot. Very professional. I absolutely love his moms too!!
As a 1976 Chaminade alum, with a son who graduated in 2002, I loved this interview with a smart young man, a thoughtful and intelligent mother and you Graham! That the entire interview took place in The Athletictron and The Atrium was a wonderful opportunity to remember my 5 years (8-12) at Chaminade. He truly represents our motto "Esto Vir",,, Be A Man. Well done Jason!
Tatum wants the MVP, the finals MVP !! He's willing to let others shine and is keeping his sights on the big prize. That's a true leader. Love your show John, I never miss it. Jim in Vermont
Awesome story. And his father is the real life version of Denzels character in He Got Game, Jake Shuttlesworth, as far as coaching his son in that manner
I've seen him play with these insecurities throughout his career. I knew it was something there. Jrue Holiday will help him develop his championship mindset, tho. The Boston Celtics will win the 2024 NBA Championship.
Here after he just won his first ring and is on the verge of signing a 300m+ contract 🤞🏼🫡God bless you JT, Brandy, Deuce and the rest of the Tatum fam. Thanks for banner 18!! ☘️
This was incredible, thank you! Loved hearing from everyone in Jayson’s life. Deuce is so cute! Jayson seems like a great dad. Next interview I’d love to hear more from his grandma and it would be interesting to hear about how he co parents with Deuce’s mom and how his own childhood struggles may have shaped that. Hope things go Boston’s way for the rest of the playoffs this year ☘️🏀
I went to soldan high school his father Justin Tatum he was our high school basketball coach whom also made us state champs…..I remember young Tatum coming up to our school with his dad idk why folk act like his dad wasn’t around when he definitely was
Two things can be true at the same time. He could have come to your school, and his father could not have seen him for the rest of the month or contributed financially.
@@nf9917 your implying that he probably only showed up at our school once and that his father never showed up after that and never contributed financially…
From what I’ve seen it seemed like one of those situations mom carried most of the weight and while he wasn’t completely absent probably wasnt there physically or financially as much as tatum and his mom would have liked
Just watched this the second time. All this week. This is not about basketball. This is about life and humanity and hard work paying off in whatever one does. About being a good father. This is about life.
Can we give props to both Tatum’s Mother and Father for being essentially teen / young adult parents (18-19 years old) and raising a respectful, hard working, successful and accomplished man
Jayson's childhood relationship with his father sounds in some ways similar to Tiger Woods relationship to his Dad. Àpparently they both had a method to their madness. Look at their sons now. On top of their athletic successes they appear to be good caring dads themselves.
So proud of jt!!! I feel greatful to be a celtics fan...no one, and I mean no one, has a better team than us...and I'm not talking skill, these men are great examples for humanity...God f-ing bless us all!!!
Nice interview with a wonderful young man. I love his candor and his mom. What a lady. He will win a championship. KUDOS to his MOM!!! This is the worst part about entrusting your children with people who don't really see the important part they play in shaping their future. 😢
Put your trust in God and he will direct your path. Your life story is amazing and beautiful. Now Tatum, you can see just how good God is. Wishing you all the best in future. God bless. ❤️

That's one thing when its a stranger telling a 9 , 10 year old kid. He or she can or can't be a certain person or do something in a career when growing up. What if its the Mother or Father telling their own kid those words. "You can't be or do so and so when your grow up. Think about reality!" If your Asian American and have a Parent born before 1960. You most likely didn't get emotional, moral and even physical support from your parent growing up. Most Asian Parents over 65 don't believe in supporting their kids hopes and dreams. It's all about being practical and thinking about basic stuff and letting your dreams go for the now. Asian Parents over 65 believed in just providing financially for their families, making sure the child has clothes, food, shelter and is healthy. Everything else that child has to learn and do on their own. Think I heard other words, curse words said to me more than my own name from my Mom growing up in a single parent household. "You idiot, retard, stop being stupid, you wanna cry I'll give you something to cry about, stop feeling down with your emotions suck it up". At 9 , 10 years old had to learn to encourage myself, learn things on my own because my mom was working 40 to 50+ hours a week and my older brother was getting in trouble doing things on his own and wasn't spending time with me when he wasn't in school. At 9 , 10 years old had to be my own Father, when it comes to getting emotional, mental, moral physical support for an adult male. Wasn't going to get it from any one else in my family so learn to do things on my own at a young age. Encouraged and pushed myself to graduate high school in 2000, encouraged , pushed myself and paid for my own way through college and graduated in 2015. Till this day, my mom still tells me from time to time that I waisted my time going to college. Still not getting emotional or moral support from her as an adult 20+ years later after graduating high school. I promised myself when I was a kid and growing up that I would never not show support to my child. Never let my kid or kids experience what I had to go through growing up. I never got support from my Mom or my dad, or my older brother growing up. Every time I asked anyone in my family for help they got upset and treated me like I was an inconvenience for them. Told myself growing up that I would make sure that my child knows that I love and care about them and believe in what ever dreams they want to accomplish as they grow up. Give them stuff that I never got as a child, teen or young adult.
