Tom Cruise took time out of his busy schedule to thank the audience before Top Gun. Chris Evans took time to suggest the audience die off like dinosaurs before Lightyear. Can't speak for everyone, but that meant a lot to me.

@Ichigo Kurosaki - As other commenters have pointed out, the source is the movie itself. Most screenings of Top Gun: Maverick were preceded by a short but earnest clip from Tom Cruise, thanking the audience for coming to see his film.
I have no doubt you can find it on TH-cam, but you asking for a source is both reasonable and amusing, since nearly everyone who saw the film also saw Cruise's message. It's possible some screenings didn't include the clip, but I can't imagine there were many.

As a Black person, as a "strong diverse woman," as The Critical Drinker would say, I am tired of Hollywood thinking I'm automatically going to like a production just because a character or two is like me. It makes the whole inclusivity and diversity thing cheap and insulting. Just tell the damned story! Don't obsess about checking off if you have this type of person or that type of person. It's ruining today's media. We BEEN used to it! Now keep it moving, and just tell the story!

I never understood it myself, but apparently, some people do not believe they can do something unless they see someone that looks like them do it first. This comes off as a weakness of character to me. They will not blaze their own trails and just follow what someone else has done. It wouldn't be so bad if a number didn't seem to demand everyone else blaze the path for them.

As a black man I get sick and tired of movies that constantly remind me of the atrocities my ancestors experienced and the struggles I’ve experienced I want to see how we’ve made it how we’ve have rose above not demonizing white of today for things their forefathers did that is not their fault. Like I can care less about all this political crap, the individuals
Who took most of the alphabet need to stop acting like their still victims of hate because first of all they are doing exactly what they are supposedly fighting against, two they have more privileges than any community in the known universe you even say something as simple as oh I don’t agree but I’ll still respect you as an individual they will still scream “you are a bigot” like get a grip no one cares anymore y’all have two months of celebrating more than black history month, hell my poor girlfriend didn’t even know there was a womens month like Jesus what are we doing God is looking down on the world like goodness what is wrong with these humans and the devil is like damn I didn’t even have to do anything really they are destroying themselves.

Here's a Take: Give us a movie with NO romance. Because, if anything, romance as a whole is over-fucking-done. There's always a love interest, there's always a kiss scene, or a romance scene. It's over-fucking played and now often is unnecessary and often gives some huge negative points to films because of it (I'm glaring at you Halo tv show). It's the same shit as video games. They find something that was a hit, assume it was because of This, That, or The Other Thing, and they copy that formula, and hap-hazardly slap it into their own product expecting it to work just like it did before, but when a dozen others are doing the same thing and it's all done without forethought - big surprise. We end up hating it.
One of the reasons why I loved Star Wars: Rogue One was because it narrowly avoided an expected love scene between the main two characters. I was so fucking happy to see them just sitting down side-by-side platonically while watching the explosion in acceptance of their death. They could have EASILY made the two kiss before dying, but they didn't and that was such a nice change of pace for the film industry.

The Lightyear movie is basically a modern day live action remake that everyone is sick and tired of seeing. It has all the signs; a younger more unlikeable actor cast as the lead instead of the original one, a plot that strays as far away from the original story that everyone grew up on, the tone and themes are now darker instead of light-hearted, it tries to be more grounded and less fantastical, it replaces characters fans know and love with cheap knockoffs. That's why it's a failure.

I know that this movie is supposed to be what inspired the toy in the Toy Story world, but it would make more sense for kids like Andy to want a toy from an action-oriented tv show. There is already a "diverse" set of heroes and villains in that cartoon, and if bringing in Tim Allen was too controversial, they could have used Patrick Warburton.

All I can say is, Top Gun deserved the success it had. It didn't pander to anyone, it didn't pull the typical remake bullshit of it being about the former stars kid while the old cast only gets a minor role, it used real planes instead of a over use of CGI that doesn't age well, It was made in the style of how movies used to be made in the 80's and 90's, the greatest damn era for movies, especially action movies.
Buzz was always gonna fail when they decided to make it a mature version. No one cares about that, they just wanted to use the IP to push out another money maker without effort. They inserted the same sex kiss not to represent gay people, they inserted it to score points after they removed certain same sex scenes for the Chinese releases before. Don't be too proud of that Disney, seriousely, if you care about gay people, MAKE INTERESTING GAY CHARACTERS THAT ARE MORE THEN JUST A TOKEN CHARACTER. That goes for any minority as well, make interesting characters, don't make them be a skin color or what ever, that helps absolutely no one.
Also, they forgot their own lore, it was established already that the Toy Buzz was based on the cartoon series they released later, a great cartoon btw. Or do they now pretend that that cartoon was based on this movie?

I recently watched the movie (the Tim Allen version, but Patrick Warburton does a fantastic job as well) for the very first time - no notoligc value involved - and I must say, I really really enjoyed it! The movie itself is very crisp, a simple yet charming story, likable characters, hilarious dialogue and one-liners (Steve Miller as XR had me dying of laughter)- way beyond the quality I expected from a straight to DVD movie / the first three episodes of the main series. There is a great documentary/breakdown of it somewhere here on youtube. First ever lesbian couple in "Finding Dory" like six years ago, first ever lesbian couple in "Toy Story 4" three years later, then another "first lesbian cop couple ever!" in Pixar's "Onward" a year after that. And now this "first lesbian couple" something-or-other in Buzz Lightyear.
There's been at least 16 separate cases of "first gay/lesbian/samesex" characters in Disney so far, virtually all of them purposely kept as minor as possible so they could be edited out for international audiences. I'm convinced the reason they always pick short-haired, unisex-looking Lesbian designs for the animated films/shows is just so that they can say one of them is actually a man if they change their mind before it hits theaters.

This is like when they announced the Monster Hunter film and how hyped some people (including myself) were. Then we found out it was by the same guy who filmed the Resident Evil films with his cardboard cutout wife. Then they butcher it further by introducing a plot line with the U.S. Army (what?) ending up in the world of Monster Hunter somehow. The only iconic monster we saw was Rathalos I think. No Gore Magala, no Valstrax, no Teostra, and no Alatreon. I don't even think a single elder dragon appeared in the film. I saw Diabolos in the trailer but let's be honest, that monster is annoying to deal with in game. So glad that film sucked, but it sucks that the final update to Iceborne was an event for the film. But in the interim he had cleaned up his act and went to school for psychology, the man had an uncanny insight into people's feelings and hardships, he was a helpful and loving sounding board when any of us were going through something. He was probably the best example of "I have the answer to everyone's problems but my own" in that way. In the end, the fact that he was gay was barely a blip next to all the other things about him really, we didn't think any differently of him for it. Really, that's how it should be overall, judge others on what they contribute to society and the quality of their person.
Anywho, sorry for the long response... 2 months after the fact. 😅

About a year before he passed, I went to a Heaven and Hell concert; which was a version of Black Sabbath that Dio fronted. You could see how much fun he was having. It was a great show. You could see he was happy to be there and put on a great show. No surprise to hear him say that the fans are what matter. I have seen Black Sabbath numerous times and a good many of them Ozzy couldn't sing. You get about two songs. He was sober for the farewell tour and sounded amazing. But Dio was somehow better. I have a shirt from the Heaven and Hell show. I rarely wear it because I don't want to mess it up. It is a bit of a treasure to me.

Dio was so great in concert. My Dio shirts are not worn either.

"They immediately trotted out there letting everyone know diversity was on their mind. If there's ever a hallmark of something being garbage they always tell you about diversity first."
Exactly this. It's not just being woke. It's being woke and then telling everyone about how woke you are, even to the point of sacrificing quality for wokeness.

They are not going bankrupt. They will be rewarded for this recent behavior with extremely generous bailouts if it gets that bad. And really, most of the people who claim to be angry about this stuff don't have the guts or basic integrity to STOP WATCHING new Marvel, Star Wars or whatever. (Pirating it doesn't count, Disney is perfectly happy with you polluting your mind with their material and making it relevant whether or not you pay for it.)

YURI bez\m3n0v said this 💩back in the 80's and G. edward griffen said it back in the 60's...woke shit doesn't work, it's was created to destroy societies, but Disney doesn't care and hired a bunch of leftists anyways.

My main problem with Lightyear was that the trailers looked generic and dull. There was a talking cat with a 360 head, some look alike humans and a lot of going ARRRRRRR whenever something dramatic happened.
    It just looked really dull.
THEN I discovered it was woke and the main voice actor hated us in advance.

    As the saying goes:
-Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!
That seems to a lesson Disney just refuses to learn.
