Eine wunderschöne Ballade, von Eric Bogle, die ich erst kürzlich entdeckt habe. Ja, wenn Wünsche Fische wären... wir würden doch täglich die Netze auswerfen! Aber was, wenn keine Fische (= Wünsche) mehr da wären? Für mich ist es eine Art kurze philosophische Betrachtung des "Älter-Werdens"...
I came across this beautiful ballad by accident - and fell in love with it. To me, "If Wishes were Fishes" is a kind of a "philosophical contemplation of life", which gets more interesting, the older I get...

Eine sehr schöne Eigeninterpretation, obwohl ich sie ganz anders intonieren würde. Ich habe dazu auch eine deutsche Interpretation geschrieben. Ich bin halt einfach ein Eric Bogle-Fan, wohl einer der wenigen in Deutschland.
