I tried this over the weekend, using the Valve Driver for the edge of breakup amp tone. Upstream I added the Scream 808 and the results with a stratocaster are not bad. I still need to do a little refining in terms of equalisation and compression, but it looks like gain stacking will be workable.
Nice video, thanks for posting this. I see that you have a Trio+ along your HX effects. Could you explain how you wired them? I’m getting crazy finding the way to wire them while still using the send/return 4 cable methods with my amp. Is it even doable? Many thanks for your advice!!!
Unfortunately I was not using the 4 cable method. I was using a very clean amp with everything going into the front. You might have to split and combine your signal or use an FRFR speaker just for the Trio. Good luck.

I'm sure it must have sounded great in the room.

excellent video, nice trick to get more of an "amp-in-a-box" tone on the HX
Thanks 🙂. It works even better on an amp more designed for rock sounds.
