      Ditto. Been playing nascar games on my PC for 10 years. Keyboard all the way, but since I can't get NT2004 to work on my PC, I've had to adjust to NR2003 and man is it different. You need a wheel for this game
      That being said, anybody know how to run NT2003&2004 on Windows 10? I know it has something to do with the DRM but haven't figured out how to make it work

    For the PS4 controller, keep the pedals held down at first, and then release to assign them to the axis. That'll get the axis control working as normal! I've never played against anyone with a wheel, but I don't think controller is that far behind.

    If ur using a keyboard just ease off the turns I personally love it and if u are braking with a keyboard I recommend putting it on the B key cause S key is on use and put ur shift up and down to Period key Shift up Comma key Shift down and if ur turning use A and D and throttle W u were also pretty rough with the steering just ease it especially in the esses,chicane, and the carousel

      for me i do:
      y for gas
      i for brake
      a for left
      d for right
      j for shifting up
      k for shifting down
      only had issues with those settings once, and it was because my i key broke during a martinsville race

    I played at first with an Xbox 360 gamepad. It is useable, but way too twitchy to be enjoyable for longer sessions. Then i switched to my old super-cheap (20 euros) wheel, and the experience was instantly so much better .
    What i am trying to say, if anyone is starting with NR2003, use even the cheapest possible wheel, and your experience will be a LOT better, than if you used even the best gamepad available.
    Then two weeks ago i bought a Logitech G29 with an H-patter snifter for 260 euros, and the experience is on a whole nother level ! Totally worth it.

    I have used keyboard and mouse for a while because I have a laptop but I m thinking of upgrading to a controller. The only bad thing I have noticed with keyboard and mouse is that you can either be 100% on the throttle/brake or not at all.

The Thunderdome here in Australia is just rotting away after a single official NASCAR race and a kind of underrated Australian racing series called AUSCAR that featured Australian only cars. An international NASCAR circuit would be cool.

    This was a great video. I user a Logitech Driving Force GT and it works great. Maybe you can answer or help me with one thing. I notice on plate tracks I never seem to get up to speed. I tested with an XBOX controller and am much faster down the front and back stretches by like 3 or 4 mph. Maybe when calibrating the pedals should I not press the gas pedal down completely to see if that would make any difference? I dont really run those races much as I like tracks with breaking and throttle control a lot more. Just curious as to why I am slower with the wheel and pedals though.

    • @simracingmiscellaneous6287
      @simracingmiscellaneous6287  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is bizarre. If you go a replay you should be able to see your gas and brake input so you can tell if you are pushing the pedals all the way. Otherwise it could have something to do with assists if you have any on? Also any changes in the weather (temperature, cloudy, etc.) will affect your speed.

LOL that would be heart breaking. IRL the draft is the great equalizer in my world its the sad stinkualizer. I know its not the weather as I lock the weather to actual conditions in the tracks area. Thanks for the reply and idea on things to try. Cant wait for the next vids and kinda excited for Talladega now.

    For the T300 vs T180, I think if you swapped the order, you would have gotten similar results with the second test being faster than the first.
    For the controller, I assume you tried to get the pressure-sensitive triggers as the gas and brakes. On the XInput controller that I have, the triggers are a combined axis when pulling the controller without the XInput API. So I'd be able to assign one trigger for the gas and the other trigger for the brakes and it would work fine. I doubt that NR2003 uses XInput though. I think you could still improve your lap time with this over the keyboard. You just need to pulse the brakes more often, just like the keyboard.
    For the joystick, you basically used the exact same assignments that I used. Pull back for brakes, twist for steering, and throttle for throttle. And the top buttons for shifting up and down. That's exactly the same setup that I used when I was racing with a joystick. And I got quite good at it to the point where I won races in iRacing (granted, it was in Rookie Street Stock). But if I got knocked out of line on the superspeedways, I was pretty much doomed to take out half the field trying to save it and *not* over-correct (happened frequently on NR2003 online races, but rarely on iRacing).
    For the keyboard, that is not allowed to be faster than the controller. I want a rematch!

    • @simracingmiscellaneous6287
      @simracingmiscellaneous6287  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the controller was giving me some issues when I was trying to set it up, the brake wouldn't stay calibrated as an axis. And I figured that was the best way to set up the joystick. The most difficult part for me was definitely the pulling back to brake, it felt very unnatural!

    • @TChapman500Gaming
      @TChapman500Gaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simracingmiscellaneous6287 Let's hope you never have to use a joystick then. For me, it seemed *only* natural to pull back to brake.
