Well, need to give my experience. This is an old system, the recent revival of the old Brazilian 3-2-5, but with meso-attackers rather than attackers, so as to cover more efficiently the field. If it's played properly- as Spoony shows- it can be a great weapon. The only mishap is that the wingers run a lot and get tired very easily, so the stamina is a subject here. This was the reason why all the older systems were abandoned when the English inserted the 442 in 1957-1958. Those who will play it must have in mind to open properly the players to the side, so as to create combos and exploit the full width of the field, so as to achieve local numerical superiority and reach the goal easily and also to have thw proper marks when in defence. All have nice plays, dudes, and I'll be happy to recieve your feedback. Cheers to all.
I havent had much luck with playing wingers on a 3cb formation at all this year. They seem to lack any presence in the middle. You are finding different?
Great Formation! Since some here are asking for playing styles. Here's what playing styles I use and a little extra info: 1. Use DMF/CMF instead of 2DMF First of all, two DMFs is a little too defensive for my taste. Try to set at least 1 DMF to a CMF and let him be a Box-to-Box player. This way, he will neatly connect offense and defense. Right or left doesn't matter. 1. AMFs = Hole Players. The two AMFs should definitely be Hole Players to make runs from the deep past the CF. The CF really moves a lot with these tactics activated so the AMFs will naturally swirl around him a lot. 2. CF = Goal Poacher A Target Man would be too conservative here and the Fox is too static. 3. L/RMF = B2B. Let the wingers be Box-to-Box players. This way, they will cover the most space on the wing. However, when signing players for that position be mindful of their stamina ability. They will require a lot! 4. DMF = Anchor Man AM is the best choice to keep your box secure, especially with a CMF next to him. Orchestrator will work as well if you feel the need for more impact and less safety. 5. CBs = Build Up. Since your CBs will be positioned high up the pitch they need to be good passers and initiators. Since Build Up training favors defending skills as well, it's perfect here. On Superstar or higher, be patient and wait for opportunities to open up, especially against smaller teams. Your hole players will be the top goal scorers, just let them run in position and use the holes opened up by your CF. Even your Wingers will participate a lot and give you width in attack. Only one attacker (red color) seems not enough at first glance since you usually struggle to score on Superstar difficulty, but what you will really need is control over the midfield - the rest will come eventually. And another thing: Keep in mind that those 12:0s or even higher results against Superstar are practically impossible since PES2018, as the AI is cheating heavily and relies on scripting even more. Still it is only an AI and totally beatable, especially with this 3-2-4-1. Just don't give up!
I was playing master league and for me the best formation which works is 4-2-4 where in mid I have 2 DMF and in forward I have one CF and 3 SS one behind CF and the other 2 on left and right. Keeping the tactics basically the same counter attack and advanced defensive tactics as counter target on both CF and SS behind the CF. This helps me make very fast 1-2 counter attack launched deep from the defence. Do try it too. Btw will give this formation a try too. Nice video. The best PES TH-camr I know of. I hope PES gains up the fans now fast.
Hey I have a question. What is the point of 2 compactness? Does it not make the defence a bit weaker in the middle against the hard forcing turn&shoot AI? I experiment with high compactness so far my front line pressure looks like almost the same (5-6 line is still good) and the AI does not really use the compactness against me with hug the touch line, etc. However I felt my defenders might be too stupid (and more contact with each other lol) when close to each other and the AI could still score easiy goals among 6-7 defenders. So I can not really tell which and why it is better. With high compactness it looks like more natural to pressure and hold the line... And with 4 defenders you also recommended it but with 3 defenders you switch to low compactness. Thank you! :)
I use Semin as a manager from this week. He runs the 3241 and is as close to this as ihave been able to find. I ran this all last year with my 3 and 4 star team and it was great fun. Aside from Semin that i got yesterday, finding a manager for this has been hard. They always seem to be possession or conservative defenses.
We play 4141 in coop which is kinda like 361 and it feels absolutely rock solid in defense and we have numbers in attack. I'll try to find 361 manager for my club to see how it does there. currently i'm playing 352.
I am playing this formation without the 2nd dmf, instead I play with 2 strikers and 1 dmf 2 amf its really strong in attack and defensively is almost just as good when you drop deep with a low line
Tried it for PC on legend and I have the same issues as I did with my default formation and the same formation patterns occuring (no support going forward, lack of players at the back, players not responding at crucial times etc etc). Basically the AI just periodically messing with my controls/players making them slower and less responsive - having the players wide on the wings did nothing as when I went to make those passes the AI very quickly closed down the space (and I could even see them doing this on the radar a few passes before I tried to get into position to switch it) besides this I couldn't even play pass and move football (triangles) as the player who passes doesn't even make the run into space as they normally would (something that never happens on easy/normal). It's basically the same old story where the AI just screws with everything; I'm left running in mud with no options and passes no longer consistent players don't react with inclusion of lots of little delays etc while AI are like whippets and just bumble me off the ball even when Im shielding and this is supposed to be how they increase the difficulty? It's a sham :'(

Spoony, it's better to use natural LWF/RWF on LMF/RMF position or LBs? Trying to build some killer team in ML, but don't know if wingers like richarlison, rodrygo, malcom or david neres would do the job here
Has to be LMF/RMF. Some of those players can play those positions mate. LWF/RWF would be too high and LB/RB too deep. The 6 across midfield is so important for this to work.
@@SpoonyPizzas yup, I planned placing those players on RMF/LMF, just were asking if it would be better to choose from Malcom/Rodygo/Neres/Richarlison (wingers) or likes of Aarons/Gaya/Walker/Hakimi (fullbacks). ITS ACTUALLY EASY!!! you just switch to ultra attacking playing style when you are given a set piece late in the match.i f you don't know how to do that, you put on the analog/mode button on your controller then you hit the ''up'' digital button twice very quick. do it once, then twice to set it to ultra attacking. so your goalkeepeer should be out during a set piece.ALL THIS WILL BE POSSIBLE ONLY IF YOU INSTRUCT YOUR GOALKEEPER TO JOIN ATTACK IN THE ''PLAYER SETTINGS'' ON THE GAME PLAN MENU. it could be risky though if you still have a long way to go in the match, but ithink it's best with goalkeepers such as manuel neuer and jan oblak in the game 'cause they are have awesome attacking potential.CHEERS!!!
I tried this tactic against a friend a couple of times. I actually like it a lot. We are equal in lvl so its not like i only win but it defently is a strong tactic. Lot of passing options, solid defence and good attack. I do notice sometimes my lmf and rmf are 2 far back when iam already around the 16 yard box in attack. But what coach in myclub has this formation? Nobody right?

Spoony Pizzas come on spoony. It’s so obvious that it works on lwf/rwf. Without wingback they never go back when possession is lost With wingback the act like rmf/lmf (they go back when possession is lost)
This is great! Can't wait to try it out. Quick question: I tend to struggle playing against 4-4-2 formations. Maybe it's the two CFs but it is also difficult getting in between the two lines of 4. What formation do you recommend to combat a 4-4-2?
I did this before but it's affected massively by the attack/defence strategy...as the AI constantly changes, it can differ from game to game so it's difficult to say. 361, 451, 4141 formations work best i.e. teams that stack the midfield
Wow, great tactic, thanks. My attack rate has gone up, especially shots on goal and not just from wide, very mixed plays. I push the FWD further up tho and pull back by 1 or 2 in the defensive line which allows me more comfort when the opposition play thru balls. This means I can manually increase Attack more often and play down the wing. Wing Back really helps when defending. Occasionally I play one of the AM as SS and push him further up just outside the box, which helps when chasing a late goal. Tho it can leave you a bit open to the other teams DMs getting more space to find thru passes. Started using manual cross which is far better when you get used to it. Tried the RT/RB cancel too and once even got my forward a better, more direct heading opportunity thru it... will need more practice to get the timing right when to use it effectively.

Training for a offline tournament Just played some matches with a slightly adjusted formation (one more CF ibstead of one AMF) This tactics did really play into my playing style... 3 wins right away against higher rated players... Not sure if 3-5-2 is as bad as believed. Tried this as a 3-5-2 and went 7/7 on ML. Scoring 3 on average. Increased the compactness and made it much Better in defense too
I have repeating big issue with ultimate formation tactics that even with defensive strategy (blue bar) they defend very high - yes it is due to front line pressure and high def line. The problem is that even on superstar I lose all my key matches (ok opponent is 5-10 OVR rate higher + superstar difficulty lol) that they just ping-pong 4-5 passes and through ball between 2 defenders and hello goal. So with respect of the tactics there are AI cases (ping-pong godlike, etc) it is just not working properly even with attack/def strategy. 75-80% of the cases it works and force long ball, etc. But especially against stronger opponents it is struggling. But I can imagine with different strategy it would be much worse. But I do not really experiment yet as I search the issue in myself as I am not as good as you. I rematched vs. Barca with 2 back line setting: it was a bit better (but yes in that case there is too big gap between defence and midfield so not good in general - maybe deeper backline without frontline pressure) but I got the same goal as with high backline just 5 meter deeper LOL. I just probably have to admit that 10-15 OVR rating difference is too much. Maybe with 100 rematch I can get a draw or something. But I definitely feel uncomfortable against 4-3-3 and 4-2-2 especially against stronger teams. Maybe it is just the ML and need better team (74-79).
I re-matched 3rd time with 2 defence line 8 compactness and defensive-neutral then attacking strategy. It was the best from tactical point of view as I could defend properly the AI bullshit exploit was not really there. I also lost by 1-2 with Messi's 25 meter turn and shoot and after I scored the equalizer my defender clearance hit my other defender's back and of course the opponent scored an amazing goal from the edge of the box hitting the top corner bar. Maybe I just suck but at least that was an acceptable loss against a much better team (my 74-75 players against mostly 85-90). And it is still only SUPERSTAR! Probably on Legend that strategy would have been much worse as I can not even defend or AI just possess the ball 90% without frontline pressure. Especially Barca tiki-taka. After the match the news said: "upphill struggle" LOL
Defending with 3 CBs can be more difficult than the flat back 4. I noticed that and for this formation to work it does require good player switching and dragging midfielders back into position. Try 4-1-4-1. That's a good alternative with a solid base. If you play AOD/CONS you're inviting the AI to play long passes into their strikers and depending on your defensive line... could result into easy chances for the AI. 4-1-4-1 is probably the safest formation I would say
4-1-4-1 with the same formation and tactics (2 AMF) but put 1 DMF into the defender line (I have only 4 wingers/full backs at the moment, 4 DMF and 5 CB :D)? I tried AOD/agreessive/2 backline/8 compactness with ultimate - it was more stable and could win against Athletico Madrid (previous season they played the same ping-pong game against my high backline). Yes they played more long ball but that's my wish as my 3 tall CBs are waiting for them. I will re-watch your games to see your defence. As I remember the main difference was in your games that your players had the good pace to cover the gaps in the same situations. Not mentioning the hardcore pressure with fast players at the front (you switch and pressure well). But as you tested it with bad team vs. good team of course I believe in you that my play needs to be better to have better results (that's not a question as I have less experience and playtime and talent(?) :) ). Until that maybe I need to alter the strategy to the one I am comfortable and successful with. I think I am bad with frontline pressure as I do not really like that fast switching stuff. But the defence issue is not related to that - but probably with better front line pressure it would be better. Maybe I can not do it by heart well.

I conceded this goal in the 2nd minute of the game: what did I wrong from playing point of view? I could switch off the controller too I guess. From tactics point of view probably attacking strategy would have been better but 2nd minute of the game! And see how my 8 High defensive backline (and in formation it is high too as yours) works and wtf did my defender do to GIVE the striker space? Is it my fault? With center attacking the 2 full back joins the attack in the middle and I have 3 "midfielders" to pass at back. Defense is more stable too. I do not know if the compactness should be more or less. Compact looks good for deeper defending while less compact could be better for frontline pressure. Front line pressure was not that effective as with 3-6-1. But the stamina is an issue for all 4 wingers or just need bonuses and better stamina. :D
When game is building up, i pass to a player and then a through ball to another player ...that player suddenly stops running and wont get the through ball, finally opponent defender get the ball... Happens frequently..So annoying..
Are you continuously using dynamic one twos? You can only set ONE player run at a time. If you do another dynamic one two (hold player select OR special controls) and press pass it will stop the previous dynamic one two runner.
@@SpoonyPizzas hey spoony, Its not about 1-2 pass, its about 3 players here.. Say we have, Player 1 player 2 and player 3 Player 1 have the ball and saw player 3 ahead of him asking for ball.. But due to bad positioning, i had to pass it to player 2 quickly, now player 2 can pass to player 3 but this time player 3 stops running or just not ready to receive the ball. Thats the situation.
I played FIFA most of the time...And I can say that through ball in FIFA is much easier, effective and little overpowered compared to PES..In FIFA, once they get good through ball, they usually are in a huge advantage, In PES even if I do get the ball, its so hard to outrun the defenders ..even if they are way behind me, they always manage to catch up somehow and disturb my player by pulling or pushing, and in the end, I'd lose the ball or lose a goal.. its really frustrating sometimes playing PES. Maybe Im expecting too much of FIFA in PES..
I've made a video showing the issues Im facing (I'll upload it later). Also, another thing I've noticed is that my player stamina drops unnaturally quick, like we're talking their bar being nearly empty BEFORE half time then being black shortly after half time and this isnt just one player but most of my midfield and forwards. I've got the team rating on high so it can't be a form issue, is it a bug or just the AI messing things up for me? I noticed it in McClub too in PES20 so its not a one off, player stamina would run out far too quick - like unfairly quick while AI levels are still high. Such a scam this game.
I don't know why but this formation is working nothing on my ML with Schalke 04, I know this formation was great on pes2020 (with small sides like Betis and big sides like Barca and Lazio) like but in 2021 after data pack 2.0 my players (especially my CBs) are going nuts. Just don't get it.
My man ... i play ofline against friends on superstar level with all condition on top level not random :) and to ridiculus we put 4 teams mixed player option mostly liverpool citi real and psg can i relay on this formation and tactis and i love short quick passes
I will try it against a friend tonight. We are both the same lvl so interesting. I have 2 questions about this tactic. 1 - Should i use mark settings? For example my lmf and rmf wingbacks on his lwf and rwf? 2 - would it be good 2 use counter on advanced instructions(for example on 1 amf?)
Hi mate, you can use mark settings if you feel that your opponent is strong in the wide areas but I prefer not to...reason being...creating that line across midfield in conjunction with the attack/defence strategy video forcing your opponent to play a long ball (easily intercepted). If you're RM/LM drop too deep it will allow easy triangles in the wide area to bypass your midfield. Counter target is best used on players with low stamina and definitely not on an ACM... as their purpose is to link midfield and attack. Otherwise he could close the lines between his defence and midfield and you'd be pushed back (formation dependent). I very rarely use counter target unless I want to create a 433 cheese fest lol. With LWF/RWF. Let me know how it goes.... Will be interested. New comment though as YT doesn't notify me of replies.
Spoony i admire your help but can you make a video of how to set teams for 2nd division playing at star level? I see many video but always using powerfull teams they never make videos with crap team. depends which players u have and what style of play ur used to the best, best is 4-4-2 imo but if u have 3 strong forwards with messi also 4-3-3 good. I got ronaldinho, lucas moura and adriano so im gonna play 4-3-3
This formation mauls 433, because of the heavy first touch... Playing through a 6 in midfield is very difficult for those who have a possession based play style. It's a truly unreal formation which gave me my highest win percentage over Legend difficulty level. Makes it easy to stop the AI, hence it's the best imo
What do u think about 4-4-2 formation? I like balanced but more attacking style of play with trolling passing, to pass to fast winger on side then he advances fast, lifts/passes into the box to CF and kaboom. If you don't struggle your frist season then it's on the wrong difficulty , I'm an average to good player, I play on top player with Schalke 04 in Bundesliga, I finished 5th my first season , I made us hard to beat but struggled to get score ,but that set me up nicely for the second season, build a solid defense frist
Is fluid formation shit I take it? True Brits seems to swear by it offline but I've tried several times and never really taken to it. I feel the players are too deep defensively
No, it depends what you're trying to achieve. One of my fluid formations for Sheffield United is one of the best and you can't do that with a static formation. It just depends what you're trying to do mate
Yup, the gameplay is on Legend mate. Makes it much easier, wait until the attack/defence strategy video drops. That'll help with the use of this formation
Yes definitely and obviously legend in master league is frustrating and unrealistic. Too much handicap. I am Liverpool with 95 team spirit, still impossible to defeat even relegation teams. All the opponent CPU AI become superhuman. Complete handicap
@@prashanth8969 To me so far Superstar is the okayish handicap in Master League (and 20 minutes). I can win against equal strong teams (but when the game favors the opposition team it is very difficult and can easily lose even for 2-6) but against strong teams (like Barca-Madrids in Spanish league) the AI just smashes me (it was really really arcade how the top teams played against me - I am curious how arcade my team will be after 5-6 seasons). So superstar means a great balance between frustration and fun. I did not try below superstar (only in BAL the top player) but according to the BAL experience the handicap would be much much less on top player which would be too easy to me. To be honest superstar is not difficult either from play point of view the opponent can not outplay me - most of its goal are just joke force goals - so I try to not be furious just accept it. But the Legend was not much better either. Just my players could not keep the pace with them even with the ultimate formation. :D I will switch to legend when I absolutely smashes my league (except Barca-Madrid) but not this season.
@@prashanth8969 I do not know what team spirit manages because even with 92 team spirit if I am handicapped I feel my players can not do anything. But I assume with high team spirit the defenders can hold a line more precisely and players do the right moves on attack better... But need good players (good attack/defense awareness?) to make it better and during handicap that stat might be pulled down/up too. I have moderate ML team so far but my best player (Arcas 80 OVR, 86 ball control, pass, good agility) can play really good - and I can imagine what happens if my other players reach that level). I did not play with Barca-Madrid at all in PES just jumped into the ML basic team lol.
@@Horpetii I have started playing master league at legend level with pass assist 1. Superstar is bit easy for me, I win all matches in ML at superstar. So I ditched superstar, it's not a challenge for me. So I have shifted to legend level in Master league recently. Legend level is frustrating at times but rewarding sometimes
I've tried this so many times. It doesn't work for me I'm afraid. I'm playing super star. Too easy to get countered. Teams like Naples or Lazio would keep the ball in their half entire game doing the awful ping pong thing which I thought was one of the most criticised over the years on PES and it's still there. Tried this formation on Juventus, I regret I did so. Your fluid formation works much better.
which fluid formation? That formation works for me (especially after attack/defence tutorial) but a little bit boring and sometimes requires too much patience as direct play is not really possible. However when I tried 3-3-1-3 or 4-3-3, 3-5-2 (I will stick to 3 CB I think it is just good against AI) and more direct play - it was more fun but I felt just less stable. I always liked 4-3-3 and other form of good counter strategies - but against Superstar and with my current skill I just can't make it work. Defence is always on point, can't really outrun the opponent (just for few meters). I even when changed DMFs to CMF it was a bit mess. But I will try to change it.
Yes, go into the match settings mate. You can turn on/off in the game. Plenty of other options too in there. I will try to reply to everyone...just sometimes lately it's been chaotic

SS 🔴 🔴SS SS🔴 🔴SS RMF🔵 🔵LMF CM🔵 🔵CM CB⚫ ⚫CB I dont believe that this is the best formation, you have the right Idea more or less...you need to use the edit position function for players, firstly you will play TWO CB one as a sweeper one as a ball player, then in front the defenders goes TWO CM with each having a RMF and a LMF just diagonally ahead of them, then use FOUR SS....two on the edge of the box and one each diagonally ahead on the sides of the box....the players on the side of the box can be placed as far out wide as the edit position allows an SS to go but these two players must line up with the LMF and RMF, the same goes for the CBs CMs and two SS infront of the box they must be lined up directly behind one another and make sure that each CM man marks the opposition wide players that way your CBs wont get stretched as much with being only two at the back....and the formation must be flexible, compactness at zero
Can't play a sweeper in this game, player position doesn't do anything defensively (tested extensively). With this formation I smashed out 36W-2-0 in a ML season
@@Kerwinnn on Legend, I'll get destroyed. Only 2 CBs. Need 3 minimum mate...otherwise it'll be a crossing nightmare. Least with 3, 1 CB can close down winger and leave 2CBs back
Not tried it since demo (I used something similar with Juve when playing online) and had great success but it's perhaps not for everyone. I like to keep the ball for long periods at a time...so it suits me
Thanks dude, the wing backs are so important but actually they didn't lose much stamina though....full backs and wing backs always tire the quickest this year
Should be even easier as they'll come out attacking. If you can't dominate teams with 6 across the middle you're not altering your attack/defence levels
@@SpoonyPizzas Have been enjoy using 343 diamond (with cmf and ss rather than LRmf or LWF) with Tiki Taka only. This is much better to maintain possession, enjoy a lot against Legend.
Not on my console, his no where. Sometimes other players like B. Williams (man utd) are also not in the game. I then turn off my wifi and williams comes again but still no fati..... Weird
I don't know if they patched anything regarding this tactic but it's definitely not a good one against teams that just park the bus, or I'm just getting too frustrated with how robotic playing against defensive teams is.. Playing with Man United so it could also just be the terrible team that is to blame partially
Play on Legend difficulty but it's good Vs park the bus teams because any clearances from crosses will fall perfect for either your ACMs early build up or if you've pinned them back it'll be your DMs.
Spoony Pizzas I’m looking for a middle of the road team (not Liverpool or City) to start a ML with but every team plays so different that I’m torn between playing the way they do in real life versus what works best in pes to beat the CPU. Any advice?

Great to hear dude. I played as a 1 star team Vs Barca and whilst I lost 1-0 I had the better chances. Just couldn't score (poor finishing). Pinned

Well, need to give my experience. This is an old system, the recent revival of the old Brazilian 3-2-5, but with meso-attackers rather than attackers, so as to cover more efficiently the field. If it's played properly- as Spoony shows- it can be a great weapon. The only mishap is that the wingers run a lot and get tired very easily, so the stamina is a subject here. This was the reason why all the older systems were abandoned when the English inserted the 442 in 1957-1958. Those who will play it must have in mind to open properly the players to the side, so as to create combos and exploit the full width of the field, so as to achieve local numerical superiority and reach the goal easily and also to have thw proper marks when in defence. All have nice plays, dudes, and I'll be happy to recieve your feedback. Cheers to all.

I havent had much luck with playing wingers on a 3cb formation at all this year. They seem to lack any presence in the middle. You are finding different?

Great Formation!
Since some here are asking for playing styles. Here's what playing styles I use and a little extra info:
1. Use DMF/CMF instead of 2DMF
First of all, two DMFs is a little too defensive for my taste. Try to set at least 1 DMF to a CMF and let him be a Box-to-Box player. This way, he will neatly connect offense and defense. Right or left doesn't matter.
1. AMFs = Hole Players.
The two AMFs should definitely be Hole Players to make runs from the deep past the CF. The CF really moves a lot with these tactics activated so the AMFs will naturally swirl around him a lot.
2. CF = Goal Poacher
A Target Man would be too conservative here and the Fox is too static.
3. L/RMF = B2B.
Let the wingers be Box-to-Box players. This way, they will cover the most space on the wing. However, when signing players for that position be mindful of their stamina ability. They will require a lot!
4. DMF = Anchor Man
AM is the best choice to keep your box secure, especially with a CMF next to him. Orchestrator will work as well if you feel the need for more impact and less safety.
5. CBs = Build Up.
Since your CBs will be positioned high up the pitch they need to be good passers and initiators. Since Build Up training favors defending skills as well, it's perfect here.
On Superstar or higher, be patient and wait for opportunities to open up, especially against smaller teams. Your hole players will be the top goal scorers, just let them run in position and use the holes opened up by your CF. Even your Wingers will participate a lot and give you width in attack. Only one attacker (red color) seems not enough at first glance since you usually struggle to score on Superstar difficulty, but what you will really need is control over the midfield - the rest will come eventually. And another thing: Keep in mind that those 12:0s or even higher results against Superstar are practically impossible since PES2018, as the AI is cheating heavily and relies on scripting even more. Still it is only an AI and totally beatable, especially with this 3-2-4-1. Just don't give up!

I was playing master league and for me the best formation which works is 4-2-4 where in mid I have 2 DMF and in forward I have one CF and 3 SS one behind CF and the other 2 on left and right. Keeping the tactics basically the same counter attack and advanced defensive tactics as counter target on both CF and SS behind the CF. This helps me make very fast 1-2 counter attack launched deep from the defence. Do try it too.
Btw will give this formation a try too. Nice video. The best PES TH-camr I know of. I hope PES gains up the fans now fast.
Hey I have a question. What is the point of 2 compactness? Does it not make the defence a bit weaker in the middle against the hard forcing turn&shoot AI?
I experiment with high compactness so far my front line pressure looks like almost the same (5-6 line is still good) and the AI does not really use the compactness against me with hug the touch line, etc.
However I felt my defenders might be too stupid (and more contact with each other lol) when close to each other and the AI could still score easiy goals among 6-7 defenders. So I can not really tell which and why it is better.
With high compactness it looks like more natural to pressure and hold the line... And with 4 defenders you also recommended it but with 3 defenders you switch to low compactness.

I use Semin as a manager from this week. He runs the 3241 and is as close to this as ihave been able to find. I ran this all last year with my 3 and 4 star team and it was great fun. Aside from Semin that i got yesterday, finding a manager for this has been hard. They always seem to be possession or conservative defenses.
We play 4141 in coop which is kinda like 361 and it feels absolutely rock solid in defense and we have numbers in attack. I'll try to find 361 manager for my club to see how it does there. currently i'm playing 352.
I used this on pes 2021 couldn’t win against top player difficulty but I just beat it 2-0 so thanks for this man 👍🏻

I am playing this formation without the 2nd dmf, instead I play with 2 strikers and 1 dmf 2 amf its really strong in attack and defensively is almost just as good when you drop deep with a low line
speedy against good players also? 3 defenders and 1 dmf is a pretty weak defense against experienced players.

Tried it for PC on legend and I have the same issues as I did with my default formation and the same formation patterns occuring (no support going forward, lack of players at the back, players not responding at crucial times etc etc). Basically the AI just periodically messing with my controls/players making them slower and less responsive - having the players wide on the wings did nothing as when I went to make those passes the AI very quickly closed down the space (and I could even see them doing this on the radar a few passes before I tried to get into position to switch it) besides this I couldn't even play pass and move football (triangles) as the player who passes doesn't even make the run into space as they normally would (something that never happens on easy/normal). It's basically the same old story where the AI just screws with everything; I'm left running in mud with no options and passes no longer consistent players don't react with inclusion of lots of little delays etc while AI are like whippets and just bumble me off the ball even when Im shielding and this is supposed to be how they increase the difficulty? It's a sham :'(

Spoony, it's better to use natural LWF/RWF on LMF/RMF position or LBs? Trying to build some killer team in ML, but don't know if wingers like richarlison, rodrygo, malcom or david neres would do the job here
Has to be LMF/RMF. Some of those players can play those positions mate. LWF/RWF would be too high and LB/RB too deep. The 6 across midfield is so important for this to work.
@@SpoonyPizzas yup, I planned placing those players on RMF/LMF, just were asking if it would be better to choose from Malcom/Rodygo/Neres/Richarlison (wingers) or likes of Aarons/Gaya/Walker/Hakimi (fullbacks).

ITS ACTUALLY EASY!!! you just switch to ultra attacking playing style when you are given a set piece late in the match.i f you don't know how to do that, you put on the analog/mode button on your controller then you hit the ''up'' digital button twice very quick. do it once, then twice to set it to ultra attacking. so your goalkeepeer should be out during a set piece.ALL THIS WILL BE POSSIBLE ONLY IF YOU INSTRUCT YOUR GOALKEEPER TO JOIN ATTACK IN THE ''PLAYER SETTINGS'' ON THE GAME PLAN MENU. it could be risky though if you still have a long way to go in the match, but ithink it's best with goalkeepers such as manuel neuer and jan oblak in the game 'cause they are have awesome attacking potential.CHEERS!!!
I tried this tactic against a friend a couple of times. I actually like it a lot. We are equal in lvl so its not like i only win but it defently is a strong tactic.
Lot of passing options, solid defence and good attack.
I do notice sometimes my lmf and rmf are 2 far back when iam already around the 16 yard box in attack.

3-5-2 mate but you can also use an SS for nice link up play with your attacking/centre mids

I did this before but it's affected massively by the attack/defence strategy...as the AI constantly changes, it can differ from game to game so it's difficult to say. 361, 451, 4141 formations work best i.e. teams that stack the midfield

Wow, great tactic, thanks. My attack rate has gone up, especially shots on goal and not just from wide, very mixed plays. I push the FWD further up tho and pull back by 1 or 2 in the defensive line which allows me more comfort when the opposition play thru balls. This means I can manually increase Attack more often and play down the wing. Wing Back really helps when defending. Occasionally I play one of the AM as SS and push him further up just outside the box, which helps when chasing a late goal. Tho it can leave you a bit open to the other teams DMs getting more space to find thru passes.
Started using manual cross which is far better when you get used to it. Tried the RT/RB cancel too and once even got my forward a better, more direct heading opportunity thru it... will need more practice to get the timing right when to use it effectively.

Not sure if 3-5-2 is as bad as believed. Tried this as a 3-5-2 and went 7/7 on ML. Scoring 3 on average. Increased the compactness and made it much Better in defense too
Can't get 352 to work
I have repeating big issue with ultimate formation tactics that even with defensive strategy (blue bar) they defend very high - yes it is due to front line pressure and high def line.
The problem is that even on superstar I lose all my key matches (ok opponent is 5-10 OVR rate higher + superstar difficulty lol) that they just ping-pong 4-5 passes and through ball between 2 defenders and hello goal.
So with respect of the tactics there are AI cases (ping-pong godlike, etc) it is just not working properly even with attack/def strategy.
75-80% of the cases it works and force long ball, etc. But especially against stronger opponents it is struggling.
But I can imagine with different strategy it would be much worse. But I do not really experiment yet as I search the issue in myself as I am not as good as you.
I rematched vs. Barca with 2 back line setting: it was a bit better (but yes in that case there is too big gap between defence and midfield so not good in general - maybe deeper backline without frontline pressure) but I got the same goal as with high backline just 5 meter deeper LOL. I just probably have to admit that 10-15 OVR rating difference is too much. Maybe with 100 rematch I can get a draw or something.
But I definitely feel uncomfortable against 4-3-3 and 4-2-2 especially against stronger teams. Maybe it is just the ML and need better team (74-79).
I re-matched 3rd time with 2 defence line 8 compactness and defensive-neutral then attacking strategy. It was the best from tactical point of view as I could defend properly the AI bullshit exploit was not really there. I also lost by 1-2 with Messi's 25 meter turn and shoot and after I scored the equalizer my defender clearance hit my other defender's back and of course the opponent scored an amazing goal from the edge of the box hitting the top corner bar.
Maybe I just suck but at least that was an acceptable loss against a much better team (my 74-75 players against mostly 85-90).
And it is still only SUPERSTAR! Probably on Legend that strategy would have been much worse as I can not even defend or AI just possess the ball 90% without frontline pressure. Especially Barca tiki-taka.
After the match the news said: "upphill struggle" LOL
Defending with 3 CBs can be more difficult than the flat back 4. I noticed that and for this formation to work it does require good player switching and dragging midfielders back into position. Try 4-1-4-1. That's a good alternative with a solid base. If you play AOD/CONS you're inviting the AI to play long passes into their strikers and depending on your defensive line... could result into easy chances for the AI. 4-1-4-1 is probably the safest formation I would say
4-1-4-1 with the same formation and tactics (2 AMF) but put 1 DMF into the defender line (I have only 4 wingers/full backs at the moment, 4 DMF and 5 CB :D)?
I tried AOD/agreessive/2 backline/8 compactness with ultimate - it was more stable and could win against Athletico Madrid (previous season they played the same ping-pong game against my high backline). Yes they played more long ball but that's my wish as my 3 tall CBs are waiting for them.
I will re-watch your games to see your defence. As I remember the main difference was in your games that your players had the good pace to cover the gaps in the same situations. Not mentioning the hardcore pressure with fast players at the front (you switch and pressure well).
But as you tested it with bad team vs. good team of course I believe in you that my play needs to be better to have better results (that's not a question as I have less experience and playtime and talent(?) :) ).
Until that maybe I need to alter the strategy to the one I am comfortable and successful with.
I think I am bad with frontline pressure as I do not really like that fast switching stuff. But the defence issue is not related to that - but probably with better front line pressure it would be better. Maybe I can not do it by heart well.

I conceded this goal in the 2nd minute of the game: what did I wrong from playing point of view? I could switch off the controller too I guess.
From tactics point of view probably attacking strategy would have been better but 2nd minute of the game!
And see how my 8 High defensive backline (and in formation it is high too as yours) works and wtf did my defender do to GIVE the striker space? Is it my fault? Or just need uninstall if not me the noob? :)

Btw I like this formation. With center attacking the 2 full back joins the attack in the middle and I have 3 "midfielders" to pass at back.
Defense is more stable too. I do not know if the compactness should be more or less. Compact looks good for deeper defending while less compact could be better for frontline pressure. Front line pressure was not that effective as with 3-6-1.
But the stamina is an issue for all 4 wingers or just need bonuses and better stamina. :D

When game is building up, i pass to a player and then a through ball to another player ...that player suddenly stops running and wont get the through ball, finally opponent defender get the ball... Happens frequently..So annoying..
Are you continuously using dynamic one twos? You can only set ONE player run at a time. If you do another dynamic one two (hold player select OR special controls) and press pass it will stop the previous dynamic one two runner.

Player 1 player 2 and player 3
Player 1 have the ball and saw player 3 ahead of him asking for ball..
But due to bad positioning, i had to pass it to player 2 quickly, now player 2 can pass to player 3 but this time player 3 stops running or just not ready to receive the ball.
Thats the situation.
I played FIFA most of the time...And I can say that through ball in FIFA is much easier, effective and little overpowered compared to PES..In FIFA, once they get good through ball, they usually are in a huge advantage, In PES even if I do get the ball, its so hard to outrun the defenders ..even if they are way behind me, they always manage to catch up somehow and disturb my player by pulling or pushing, and in the end, I'd lose the ball or lose a goal.. its really frustrating sometimes playing PES.
Maybe Im expecting too much of FIFA in PES..
I've made a video showing the issues Im facing (I'll upload it later). Also, another thing I've noticed is that my player stamina drops unnaturally quick, like we're talking their bar being nearly empty BEFORE half time then being black shortly after half time and this isnt just one player but most of my midfield and forwards. I've got the team rating on high so it can't be a form issue, is it a bug or just the AI messing things up for me? I noticed it in McClub too in PES20 so its not a one off, player stamina would run out far too quick - like unfairly quick while AI levels are still high. Such a scam this game.

I don't know why but this formation is working nothing on my ML with Schalke 04, I know this formation was great on pes2020 (with small sides like Betis and big sides like Barca and Lazio) like but in 2021 after data pack 2.0 my players (especially my CBs) are going nuts. Just don't get it.

Hi mate, you can use mark settings if you feel that your opponent is strong in the wide areas but I prefer not to...reason being...creating that line across midfield in conjunction with the attack/defence strategy video forcing your opponent to play a long ball (easily intercepted). If you're RM/LM drop too deep it will allow easy triangles in the wide area to bypass your midfield.
Counter target is best used on players with low stamina and definitely not on an ACM... as their purpose is to link midfield and attack. Otherwise he could close the lines between his defence and midfield and you'd be pushed back (formation dependent). I very rarely use counter target unless I want to create a 433 cheese fest lol. With LWF/RWF. Let me know how it goes.... Will be interested. New comment though as YT doesn't notify me of replies.

This formation mauls 433, because of the heavy first touch... Playing through a 6 in midfield is very difficult for those who have a possession based play style. It's a truly unreal formation which gave me my highest win percentage over Legend difficulty level. Makes it easy to stop the AI, hence it's the best imo

I like balanced but more attacking style of play with trolling passing, to pass to fast winger on side then he advances fast, lifts/passes into the box to CF and kaboom. If you don't struggle your frist season then it's on the wrong difficulty , I'm an average to good player, I play on top player with Schalke 04 in Bundesliga, I finished 5th my first season , I made us hard to beat but struggled to get score ,but that set me up nicely for the second season, build a solid defense frist

No, it depends what you're trying to achieve. One of my fluid formations for Sheffield United is one of the best and you can't do that with a static formation. It just depends what you're trying to do mate

Yes definitely and obviously legend in master league is frustrating and unrealistic. Too much handicap. I am Liverpool with 95 team spirit, still impossible to defeat even relegation teams. All the opponent CPU AI become superhuman. Complete handicap
@@prashanth8969 To me so far Superstar is the okayish handicap in Master League (and 20 minutes). I can win against equal strong teams (but when the game favors the opposition team it is very difficult and can easily lose even for 2-6) but against strong teams (like Barca-Madrids in Spanish league) the AI just smashes me (it was really really arcade how the top teams played against me - I am curious how arcade my team will be after 5-6 seasons).
So superstar means a great balance between frustration and fun. I did not try below superstar (only in BAL the top player) but according to the BAL experience the handicap would be much much less on top player which would be too easy to me.
To be honest superstar is not difficult either from play point of view the opponent can not outplay me - most of its goal are just joke force goals - so I try to not be furious just accept it. But the Legend was not much better either. Just my players could not keep the pace with them even with the ultimate formation. :D
I will switch to legend when I absolutely smashes my league (except Barca-Madrid) but not this season.
@@prashanth8969 I do not know what team spirit manages because even with 92 team spirit if I am handicapped I feel my players can not do anything.
But I assume with high team spirit the defenders can hold a line more precisely and players do the right moves on attack better... But need good players (good attack/defense awareness?) to make it better and during handicap that stat might be pulled down/up too.
I have moderate ML team so far but my best player (Arcas 80 OVR, 86 ball control, pass, good agility) can play really good - and I can imagine what happens if my other players reach that level). I did not play with Barca-Madrid at all in PES just jumped into the ML basic team lol.
@@Horpetii I have started playing master league at legend level with pass assist 1. Superstar is bit easy for me, I win all matches in ML at superstar. So I ditched superstar, it's not a challenge for me. So I have shifted to legend level in Master league recently. Legend level is frustrating at times but rewarding sometimes

I've tried this so many times. It doesn't work for me I'm afraid. I'm playing super star. Too easy to get countered. Teams like Naples or Lazio would keep the ball in their half entire game doing the awful ping pong thing which I thought was one of the most criticised over the years on PES and it's still there. Tried this formation on Juventus, I regret I did so. Your fluid formation works much better.

That formation works for me (especially after attack/defence tutorial) but a little bit boring and sometimes requires too much patience as direct play is not really possible.
However when I tried 3-3-1-3 or 4-3-3, 3-5-2 (I will stick to 3 CB I think it is just good against AI) and more direct play - it was more fun but I felt just less stable. I always liked 4-3-3 and other form of good counter strategies - but against Superstar and with my current skill I just can't make it work. Defence is always on point, can't really outrun the opponent (just for few meters).
I even when changed DMFs to CMF it was a bit mess. But I will try to change it.

Yes, go into the match settings mate. You can turn on/off in the game. Plenty of other options too in there. I will try to reply to everyone...just sometimes lately it's been chaotic

The LM/RM act as both fullbacks and they get forward quickly as it's set to counter attack

I dont believe that this is the best formation, you have the right Idea more or less...you need to use the edit position function for players, firstly you will play TWO CB one as a sweeper one as a ball player, then in front the defenders goes TWO CM with each having a RMF and a LMF just diagonally ahead of them, then use FOUR SS....two on the edge of the box and one each diagonally ahead on the sides of the box....the players on the side of the box can be placed as far out wide as the edit position allows an SS to go but these two players must line up with the LMF and RMF, the same goes for the CBs CMs and two SS infront of the box they must be lined up directly behind one another and make sure that each CM man marks the opposition wide players that way your CBs wont get stretched as much with being only two at the back....and the formation must be flexible, compactness at zero
Can't play a sweeper in this game, player position doesn't do anything defensively (tested extensively). With this formation I smashed out 36W-2-0 in a ML season
Try it out, its basically your tactics in attack mode
@@Kerwinnn on Legend, I'll get destroyed. Only 2 CBs. Need 3 minimum mate...otherwise it'll be a crossing nightmare. Least with 3, 1 CB can close down winger and leave 2CBs back

Not tried it since demo (I used something similar with Juve when playing online) and had great success but it's perhaps not for everyone. I like to keep the ball for long periods at a time...so it suits me

does not work well on pesuniverse V3 with teams having Klashman69`s tactics
Should be even easier as they'll come out attacking. If you can't dominate teams with 6 across the middle you're not altering your attack/defence levels

Hope you can make this tactic with fluid formation. Above everything else, I feel fluid formation is crucial at legend and superstar levels.

This is much better to maintain possession, enjoy a lot against Legend.

Not on my console, his no where. Sometimes other players like B. Williams (man utd) are also not in the game. I then turn off my wifi and williams comes again but still no fati..... Weird
I don't know if they patched anything regarding this tactic but it's definitely not a good one against teams that just park the bus, or I'm just getting too frustrated with how robotic playing against defensive teams is.. Playing with Man United so it could also just be the terrible team that is to blame partially
Play on Legend difficulty but it's good Vs park the bus teams because any clearances from crosses will fall perfect for either your ACMs early build up or if you've pinned them back it'll be your DMs.

The more I play the more I realize that the only thing that matters in this game is the attack / defense level using the d-pad.
It's not the only thing that matters. It's a combination of things tbh but that is very important (as per attack/defence strategy tutorial)
Spoony Pizzas I’m looking for a middle of the road team (not Liverpool or City) to start a ML with but every team plays so different that I’m torn between playing the way they do in real life versus what works best in pes to beat the CPU. Any advice?
