    I was born & raised in Vancouver,BC. I remember the weather prognosticators taking about the 'Pineapple Express' rain events coming to the coast ,usually after a cold snap then warm,moist air coming from direction of Hawaii.Lots of rain & melting snow. & flooding. Stay safe out there. Appreciate all your videos! Thanks!

    The Atmospheric river used to be called The Pineapple Express because it originates in the Pacific Ocean just north of Hawaii. I pay attention eh! before the climate changed to the current state is used to come ashore further south.

    I was just thinking about this channel not too long ago. Its been dry boys and girls. The earth is tilting and its reducing the magnetic field which has happened many times. Were in for a hell storm of a winter here in tjis amazing rainforest thats bone dry. The wash outs will be huge, the rivers will run hard and we probably wont see spring until July again. Now lets see what happens, Stay safe and fear nothing. Just dont plan on getting out of the lower mainland.

    I expect you will be fine. No real snow pack yet and the bush is dry as hell.

    • @dcretney
      @dcretney ปีที่แล้ว

      Both of these at not good issues, they are bad issues. The forest being dry, so dry that water cannot be quickly absorbed. And, snow pack would retain water or low freezing levels would result in snow accumulation. All these conditions at this time of make make the problem worse, NOT better as you suggest.

    Before Volvo and of course CAT, DJB articulating end dumps came in from Great Britian,
    / the UK. I'm a retired Heavy Equipment Mechanic; down here in the so to speak flat land,
    I was on a job moving masses amount of soil, lot's of rain, lots of mud: The company brought in a few of said end dumps: Didn't work out very well......... this was state soil is very
    difficult to drive through. The company laid in lime, crushed rock. put an mate drown.
    worked out very good.

  • @leemer1
    @leemer1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah shit thats the last thing we need in BC is another "atmospheric river". We just sorta recovered from the last one, lets hope this one isnt nearly as bad. Come to think of it as I type this, its unusually warm outside here in Northern BC at 10:20pm, like 12c whereas all day it hovered around +7 or 9c. What i`m getting at is when last years "river" hit the south , the same weather happened up north...chilly during the day and warmed right up in the evening.

    Let's hope for the best! I'm inclined to agree with your assessment. It is important to keep up the work of fortifying one's property. So many lessons to be learned from last year's event. The government has done a magnificent job in the highway rebuild.
