    Bah, I replaced one of those regulators on an 86 ltd my friend owned. I did it in a college parking lot at night, it was terrible. I did not have enough tools with but did have some allen wrenches, did it without taking off the intake due to lack of tools and gaskets. Finally got it off one tiny turn at a time on the worst one. Watching this is like reliving bad memories, but glad I did. hah

    Great video, very informative. I had to take the manifold off to get to that third screw, not as talented as you guys, even with a tool that i made. New regulator went right in then my fuel pump died completely so this wasn't my problem either.

      JJ Perry what kind of issues we’re having with it? I have a 90 and I’m pretty sure it needs a new fuel pressure regulator as well.

    I’m trying to get my dads 88 Ltd back on the road, I just finished swapping the heater core (hated that), but the car won’t start so I can test it… it’s cranks over but won’t start up. Was that the issue you had before doing this repair? I’m trying to narrow down what it could be, any advice would be greatly appreciated💪🏼

    Honestly taking the upper intake off is not that bad. If you've done it enough it's literally a 15-minute job or less. I know because I'm having problems with fuel injectors and I've had mine off like four or five times in the last few days lol

    For reliability, comfort and just generally being an above average car and IMHO, FAR superior to the crap marketed today, the old Crown Victorias are a good choice. BUT - and there is always a "But", who ever designed these should have been put to sleep right after they were born. There is just nothing easy to fix on them. We have two CV's - our trusty old '89 and a '91 and we love them. How I'd like to find a low mileage one as a summer driver ( as in no road salt ) but man, I hate working on them. Waayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too many electronics for my liking - and these are old school - almost antiques by today's standards. I wonder what the IQ was of the mutant that mounted thiose fuel pressure regulators like that was? Screws from the bottom up on an already wire and vacuum line infested engine bay... unbelievable. Three fuel filters - the final one on each injector that is not serviceable if it gets anything in it.. go figure.

      One usually does not. "guessing" / throwing parts at the problem.

    To change the FPR on chevy v6 4.3 Vortec you have to take the intake off which sucks.

    There's a J-shaped tool, I think by OTC to unscrew those screws.

      you have any issues with it since? been having that problem with my '90. Replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor... only an issue when it sits in rain overnight.@@solojones1767

    300 Six, EFI, the upper intake has to come off to change the regulator.

      It might be in the engine compartment near the fender wells at the back. Look on Google. Get a Actron CP9690 code tester. It checks live, record, graphing, emissions readiness test, oxygen sensor test, transmission code test, ABS, SRS, and MORE! It has code- connect to diagnose codes. Snap on scanner works from '80-2000. Get the primary cartridge and troubleshooter cartridge and manuals and Ford EEC-IV adaptor or OBDII adaptor. Also get the cigarette lighter cable or battery cable for the adaptor.
