Seeing all the work the vic is getting lately can't help but wonder what your plans are for it. Be awesome to see you start driving it. Seems like she's a good car overall.
Check the fuel pressure for leakdown and replace parts to correct it. You might want to install inserts for the bolt holes in the plastic filter holder. EBAY has it. It's CTA brand. They are 32nd's and 16th's. They have kits. The filter only goes one way.
Replacing OEM fuel filters that have been in the car/truck has to be the biggest pain in the butt. especially when they are in states like NY and the owners wait 10-15 years to change them... More often then not I just cut the lines and install a fuel filter with the barbed ends with four hose clamps on either side of the filter with rubber hose...
Cool. . Are you going to drive the vic? Looks to be clean not rusty. . Would be a good summer car. .probably wouldn't take much to get the a/c working. .
The red part on the filter the screw holes can strip out. Maybe get an insert kit from Amazon and install inserts to prevent future stripping. Replace the pump while you're there to prevent trouble. Make sure the clips are in good by tugging on them.
Have to replace entire fuel line system on 98 GMC Sierra pickup. Return line is leaking. Already replaced (all) brake lines last spring and the way it works is once you replace one line, may as well replace them all; brake, fuel and emissions lines. Because if one has failed they're all bound to fail soon enough....
I bet rust, I had a 80something Mustang once that needed a new fuel filter about once a week for a month or so. they would fill up with rust and the engine would die out, after about the 4th or 5th one it was fine. it had sat for several years before I got it.
If you see this what was the car doing before you changed the fuel fliter? Like would almost start an die off or did you just wanna put a new one in cause i have like the exact same car im doing the same in

slide a small screw driver under pointed point of clips and they won't break. just pull them outward.

You should cut that old filter open,and see whats in it!
