I've talked to a couple audio engineers about Pink Floyd. I've said the same thing. Their music sounds so timeless. It doesn't have your typical 70s or 80s production standards stamped all over it, at least best I can tell.
My mom used to play it at guitar... it reminds me childhood... without my father... My mom was alone to raise us... and she played guitar a lot... It is a nice souvenir anyway
Alejandro Guerra agreed strongly. If you’re looking for good modern music, I wouldn’t go on the radio. There are plenty of great artists nowadays that don’t have the spotlight unfortunately.
@@koltukdegnegi2952 technically it's neither. Roger came up with the song, but a session classical guitarist is responsible for writing the fingerpicked guitar section of the song.
I am 69 and not hardly does a day go by I don't listen to Pink Floyd and Frequently Requested by my Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren. No Generation Gap when it comes to Pink Floyd. There music is timeless and ageless
I'm so sorry, please take my sympathy. Whe my Dad died in 2002 we played "shine on you crazy diamond" at his adoption. And nearly everyone was touched.
Wow, Martin. As poignant as it gets. RIP to your Mom. Great tribute that I wish I could’ve heard. I’m a fingerstylist myself (HD-35) and have been working on it for a few days. As it’s now taking good form, it is choking me up as I play it. Special period in my life - Frosh year in college.
This has always been my favorite piece of acoustic. Out of all the typical songs like "stairway to heaven" that all players have learned at some point, I'm amazed to find that no one has thought to learn this one. It is very moving. Absolutely amazing. Maybe I can be someone who will be able to play it : )
Do it, Brenda! It’ll not the most difficult to get the arpeggios down especially if you have some fingerstyle background. But playing it with the right dynamics and emotion is what makes so special. Gilmore didn’t like how he was playing it during recording so they brought in Joe DiBlasi (LA session legend) to nail in on a classical guitar. Sounds great on any (steel) 6-string imo. JerrysGuitarBar has a note-for-note tab. He’s great, btw.
Absolutely. I started playing this at a backyard campfire thingy. Buddy says “oh this one! I know tons of people who do this…” When i finished, he went “Whoaaa, dooood!!!” I said “i thought you knew tons who did this?” He said, “ohh yaaah, but never like this, never with such feeling and emotion!!!” A very honourable yet proud moment for me… 🤗 🎸 🔥 (Sorry no acoustic guitar emojee 😤🤷🏻♂️ )

This is the song that got me into Pink Floyd and still is my favourite My father used to play this on guitar a lot and I would always listen to this song when he played
The best part about this is that David didn’t play this on the album- he could never get it right but here he is playing it live and did a damn fine job at it. Shows his determination
He is picking it all out with a pick unlike the original which was finger picked, he doesn't play the same exact version as the album he couldn't he doesn't finger pick. If you listen to the album version and compare you can hear he plays it completely different at one tiny segment 1:44

Hello, I saw the film "the Wall", I was may be 13-14 years old.. That was a revelation for me and I started to play guitar 6 month later.. Thank you so much Pink Floyd.. Ma-téo I have 51 now 😢
Pink floyd must of been my 20th or so concert i have ever been to and it is the ONLY one I went to sober.....(well maybe a valume or 2) but NOT drunk and I went to the concert called pulse and I was on the floor 4th row back...I swear I had died and gone to heaven...they are the only band I have ever heard live that sounds like they do on cd...exactly....I wanted to be in a lounge chair and just kick back...the best concert in the world...would pay a shitload of money to see them again!

Wow, I was 1 year 25 days old when they gave this concert. This album is the only music album I don't listen because I am scared of losing my mind. Absolute greatness..
You know, since Pink Floyd isn't going to be releasing anymore new music and they keep on re-releasing The Wall movie, you figure they could release a concert blu-ray of the original Floyd performing it live.
pause at exactly 1:30 when the big camera flash happens...just keep clicking pause and play in short quick "pulses", and you will be able to see the whole wall light up before your eyes!
I remember reading somewhere that who actually performed it on the album is unknown, as Gilmour was unsatisfied with his take on it, cool to see that he eventually performed it live!
i had this wholeee album on my ipod from my aunts BF, (he had the live version of it :):)) then i had to sync my ipod with a new computer and o how i miss that album.. wonderful piece of work that makes you think and think..
