These are strictly padlocks with more variety as I begin to release the entire guide. Once you have successfully completed the No. 5 locks we will start moving into more unique locks that may be harder to come by but offer a significant increase in knowledge and skill progression.

It's a totally different situation when the lock is ON the door. There is no room for the turning tool and you cannot get leverage to pick because the door is taking up half of the pick-space. Try doing this while on a door and please put a video out.

Thanks sooo much for this tutorial! After I retired, I picked up a PT job working for a mini-storage, and this Chateau 870 is the lock we sell. As a rank beginner at picking, these discs frustrate me greatly - so much so, I usually use a grinder to remove them. Your insights will help me learn a less invasive way to remove these. Many thanks!
Nice work on the open! However, if you are trying to go for a more realistic pick I would have held it a 180° flipped over the other way because naturally the lock will be secured with the key way upside down
I agree. I've also seen them at 90 degrees it all depends on how it's made and where it's at on the door. That does have a better leeway than the Brinks that are mostly sold at office where you rent units out. Like the R70 that has a M1 keyway.

This was definitely one of the more challenging "cheap" locks I've done
You're the "Wish" version of the lock picking lawyer. He opens this lock in seconds.
If you want a more challenging disc lock to pick, try the Harbor Freight or Brinks 70 mm.
They have heavy spring cores that fight the tension wrench and dampen any feedback.
My 9 yr old picked it in about 5 min with a pick made from a windshield wiper. Hey may have watched your video.
I made the pics because he locked both sets of keys in my truck lol. We got them out to.
Think about buying some single long/steep hooks in .015 or .018 and modifying the hook size for your needs. Most sites have single stainless picks between 2.00-4.00 , and it's a bit cheaper than buying full sets and you can make exactly what you need . I usually order a few every time I buy a new set to save on shipping.
How come you didnt use a Rake instead?
Hi, I agree with the HLP about a realistic situation. Most people pick them opposite direction on video. They are hard to pick on a locker. I had one that would not pick unless it was upside down, it was designed that way. I can not remember what brand it was now. Too long ago. Nice picking and video. 👍👍👍👍🧡

Nice picking! I have two of those Chateau locks, and they are kind of a pain. One of mine is easy to pick, the other one is a pain in the ass. I know it has spool pins for sure I can feel them. Again nice job 👍
Thanks again for the support! Sometimes it takes a while to get into a lock you may have tried to pick previously and afraid to go back, but this time it paid off!

I lost the storage key to a similar lock C870. If I bought another similar C870 lock, will the keys open my storage lock?. Can I make a bump key for my lock C870 as the key is lost for my storage unit and I am not there in the country.
I'm having issues with mine. Not paying $40 for them to cut my lock. Bout to try a dermal and cut it or a drill bit and chew it up
Is this a hard lock because I have set up a routine so it is easy for me in my opinion
Depends on your skill level. Even then simple locks can become challenging as it depends on how the lock is pinned.

Nice picking! :D All those disc padlocks are made in two halves ... the good ones are really strong and can't easily be pried apart (but the cheap ones can).
The pins on mine just want to spring back up
A thief does not have the time, skill and convenience to hold the lock as you are. Had storage units for over 30 years. Never had this problem.

Those locks have spool pins in them. They'll give you a false set...
The c970 say now anti pick. Just saying. Yours I see says just rust free and anti cut. Do this to a c970, then you can brag. Picking a lock that doesn't say anti pick isn't as impressive as the c970.
It ain't no harder to pick then this one.
