To cool it, I used the parts of an old freezer (coil and compressor unit) from a fridge that was heading for the dump to cool it. Nearly got that sucker 500, but couldn't get it to be stable. Point is, you guys are MUCH more patient than I am. That was the one and only time I did an oil build....cuz ermergerd....MESSY! Hats off to your tenacity!
Since you use a fish tank as a case why not try using a saltwater cooler/chiller for cooling the oil. They are made to keep the water cool from having hot lights. Now that ELD is the way to go and not HID lighting they are cheaper.
As an option to make it even cooler, you could've hidden some radiator pipes in those stones and run some coolant through them, and thank to air pump making bubbles it would force cold oil to spread in the tank mixing with heated oil. It's all theoretical, I'm not an expert in this kind of things, but in theory it should work. The biggest disadvantage in this idea is that the radiator pipes have to be custom for the chosen tank and welded correspondingly (well, you can try finding some tank and pipes which would fit, but I doubt there's anything like that out there). So, basically it has to be a huge pipe with only two connectors outside the tank to exclude the risk of a leak. I get that I may sound not quite clear, so to better understand the idea behind such a system, take an example from Oxygen Not Included with all those wiggly pipes from there. Another, a bit smaller issue is that you'll need an additional cooler and a water pump. However, having a second cooler, you could put outer part of the radiator pipes between two cooler (one takes excessive heat, another cools the pipes).
Pure distilled water does not conduct electricity. Mineral Oil is used because it has better thermal conductivity and does not remove electrons from metals over time.
I have thought about doing something like this. We live full time on a boat and ive found corrosion to be a pretty big issue with my electronics. The downside being it would need to be done sort of sealed tank to prevent the oil from splashing out while sailing.
I believe they could bypass the aio cooler altogether. Just place a copper or aluminum heat sink on the cpu, the mineral oil would remove all the heat. This is a theory.
i just had a brilliant ideal guys , atleast i think it would work in my mind and how it works lol , if temps is the problem why not use a fan / radiator, a pump and use it to circulate the mineral oil itself? woudnt that fix all the temp problems with these mineral oil builds? just trying to think outside the box on this , hehe
I'm confused when u say the CPU temp isnt showing but the igpu is the igpu is inside the CPU so isn't it the same temp I always thought the temp was the same for both
might I suggest for next time to consider putting the PSU outside or something? it's literally not being cooled at all and all the power runs through it. also the fan on it runs smooth now, but after a while it will get worn out sooner than usual because of the strain of pushing the mineral oil instead of air.

Yo guys. I have a pc right now with an M.2 that has windows 10 home installed, but it's not activated, which id like to activate because I have an oem with an Ssd that has an activated copy of windows. Can I plug in the Ssd straight into the new pc and still keep my M.2 installed?
Don't try with a spinning hard drive lol. Otherwise I can't think of any components you couldn't use. Obviously an aio wouldn't function correctly under a liquid. That's why they're keeping their radiator up in the gasses of our atmosphere. I wonder how much this cuts down on the life cycle of thermally rich components like capacitors, especially in the psu. And things like the extra resistance on fan motors and bearings. Edit. Someone needs to do a full loop oil build and mount the radiator hidden up in the lid.
The system is still prone to permeation and corrosion damage. In addition, you need to hot glue the hose and cable gaps because if enough dusts in, the oil could become conductive.
I want to put my PC in mineral oil, could you tell me what the points against it are? Is it just that it is very difficult to remove the oil if you no longer want to keep it in the fish tank?

It actually runs quite cool! We've built over 8 of these in different configs and have never had a PSU issue!

I was considering this because i live on a coast line and its very humid and my old pc died because of rust..
We've always herd that, but in the 10 years we've been doing this we've never actually seen the oil eat away or soften anything like everyone says.
Just throw the components in a ultrasonic cleaner with 99% ipa.
