Hank Jr played. For curb records at the time .And been around a lot of Year's at the time. He wrote many of his own songs. .And he would play a ballad and a rocker and a country rocker and maybe even a jazz song and even a spiritual song on most cds. And he pretty much did not have any trouble putting his picks on a CD. .He knew it was something for everyone of his fans and he would have no problem .He even did wild thing on the hog wild CD .Even Waylon said sure I will put out a different kind of song now and then. But I never know what your. Next release will uncover .kind of getting a cracker jacks popcorn box. Lol That was a quote from ole Waylon.
@Yankee Rebel Welcome aboard the channel!! I got my first speeding ticket in Colts Neck on Route 18 forty years ago, had my boat on the Manasquan River ten years ago, see a couple shows a year at PNC, so I know and love your neck of the woods (aside from my ticket). Glad to have you here. :-)
My Favorite hank Williams jr song is “gulf shore road” just really finds peace in my mind, between that, Travis Meadows “riser” and “better boat” it all hit the nerves
Thank you, Amanda, and Happy New Year to you and your family, too!! I love seeing your comments when you make them, and no pressure at all to do them anymore than you can or than you want to. I appreciate you no matter what!
New subscriber...just lovin' your content! I'm a 50-something Texas boy that just retired over the Red in Oklahoma (much cheaper property taxes). Really appreciate the Red Dirt/Texas/Outlaw/Americana/Hillbilly music you've been reacting to! Grew up with the original Outlaw artists (The Highwaymen and other greats) but do appreciate the wave of new outlaws as well. Cody Jinks is my current favorite but also like Whitey Morgan, Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, and alot of others now that I think about it! Your current subscribers are doing with picking out songs to request but I do have one that is my wife's current favorite. Its called "Head Case" by Cody Jinks. A very deep and beautiful song...no chorus, just lyrics and a story.
Welcome to the club, David!! And I agree with everything you said in your post, and will put your wife's favorite song on my list. Cody is so good, and if it helps you out on the home front I'm all about it---ha!!
You were lookin so chuffed there my friend -a great song about Yankees- loved the band and loved the song - makes one want to dance !! Aye you sure are a Yankee with that proud look on your face all the way through!!!!! by the way -Happy New Year -I am one of the few who wont be blootered tonight with drink but glad to be alive !! Lots of hilarity here tonight as you can imagine ! xx
C-Mac, you crack me up with your comments about me, my dear!! And I am also one of the ones who won't be drunk tonight, as those days are long behind me now. I like a glass of wine every night, but I also like being able to drive---ha!! Happy New Year to you!!
Just look at that face, you Yankee Boy. Fun song, good rating. Been up in your neck of the woods, met some great people. Happy New year Don, may you find success in all your endeavors this coming year.
Rita, you are so funny it borders on bottle-worthy!! Thank you for your sweet comments, and I'm glad you've ventured up here, and we will welcome you anytime you want to visit--I know I will!!
Loved it! I hadn't heard it before, but immediately fell in love with it. Also loved your reaction. Do you have a video where you tell about your rating system? I'd really be interested in seeing that! :-D
Good question, and I talk about it sometimes a little bit on random videos when the mood strikes me---ha! I'll think about doing a video on how I rate songs, but much of it is by feel and includes how well the lyrics tell the story, what the story is, how well the vocalist(s) and musicians work together, and if the song seems believable, as well as how the song is mixed, which instruments are used and when, and if I can put myself in the shoes of the person about whom the song is written. I want to FEEL something when I hear a song, whether it's joy or sadness, confusion or heartbreak, or some deep message I hadn't thought about before. And sometimes all it takes is one brilliant turn of a phrase to boost a song to at least an 8.5. But a 9.0 and higher is for spectacular songs, songs that just hit home in so many ways.
@@RockN2Country OK, good! I like what you've said here. It's very similar to what I feel about music in general (and music is part of my lifeblood). Which brings me (not meant to be a pun) to one of Home Free's cover songs from their Timeless album, "In the Blood" ( th-cam.com/video/a1TqpH6PZBo/w-d-xo.html ), originally by John Mayer ( th-cam.com/video/ob-jS7bqYgIl/w-d-xo.html ). I'm not submitting it, per se as a possibility for a reaction (though I would love to see such a reaction). I'm thinking, though, that you will really enjoy it. Personally, before I listened to Home Free's version, I went and found John Mayer's version, simply because, if I can, I always like to do that, which is why I supplied that link, as well. :-)
From the stormy CD. I believe he was fairly new with curb at the time. He left curb after a few more cds. He got mad when Garth Brooks outsold him in concert ticket sales in 93. .Stating this is the first time anyone outsold him in concerts for a year.in 33 years of being on the road . All them years if anyone was close to his sales he would fit an extra day in his concert listing .He would do over 200 shows a year if need be .So he quit the music industry. But his manager told him you have 70 employees who work for your fan club and your band and your road crew .And myself. Your manager. And you leave us hanging. Your selfish .So 5 months later he went back and curb said we only have 16 spots for country music and we replaced you. With your son Hank 3 .So they took him back on their Warner bros label .But not anymore on curb.
I was born in Jersey too but my heart is in the South. Was in WV once and I fell in love with the place. I don't particularly like the term "Yankee". I also don't like any sort of bad talk about southerners either. Just get along and listen to these great songs. North or South.
Don- I saw where you did a review of Luke Bryant. Have you ever heard the song he recorded called BLOOD BROTHERS? If not give it a try I thank you would really like it
Hey Clay, I haven't heard that song, though I do like some of Luke's songs. I'll have to check it out at home point, though not sure when. No matter what, I hope you and your family have a Happy New Year and that wonderful things happen for you all this year!
Love Hank
Great song, great fun.
