this is beautiful! I can feel the feelings that Tarja transmits when she sings. She is always doing new and different things. Each album of hers is different from the other. Her voice is beautiful, she currently uses a lower register as well.

If Tarja looks tall it's because she's wearing VERY high heels on stage :D she's,about 165 cm :)
If you'd be interested to hear less operatic and more of her chest voice I'd warmly recommend "House of Wax - live at Genelec Artist Room". Very different than what you're used from her and I'd be interested to hear your thoughts! :)

What an amazing performance, I hadn't heard that one before. Her voice is so unique and her singing exquisite. She is one of a kind. I recall one interview where she explained that she went to a music school as high school and was so good on the piano that she could had become a concert pianist but instead branched into vocal arts and has lost a lot of skill over the years because she doesn't practice or not much. Still, her instrument of choice when composing her songs. She is a much more accomplished artist and musician than most people give her credit for. In fact, very few give her the credit she truly deserves for everything she does now that she is a solo artist.

Thanks a lot for this reaction. Tarja plays the piano. It is her main instrument for composing music. When she composes songs, she first improvises the music on the piano. She writes the lyrics only afterwards. Her first piano teacher at the age of 6 was Tuomas's mother.
Tarja also plays the piano at her concerts (I reccomend the song Shadow Play from her Circus Life concert, 2020 th-cam.com/video/dZwkRRunp1A/w-d-xo.html. It is her very personal song) and played during covid in her Instagram live streams for fans. Those videos are also on her channel.
And she is not tall. She is 5′ 5″ (1.65 m). But she loves high heels. She wrote that she has a fetish for it. But she said that she had to stop wearing them a few years ago because she ruined her feet.

My oh my but that was beautiful. When wonder musicians unite. This would qualify for the ‘ music for those pretending to sleep’ list. Not music style I prefer but that can’t stop from being entranced by it. Very nice.
    Take care

Love the silliness and shenanigans The Poets can write songs. Keep cracking yourselves up! The flavor will remain a mystery 🤷🏻‍♂️

I totally agree with you. I love the song Innocence. All the versions are wonderful but the one from Circus Life is the best and extra special with the extended instrumental section. Love it ❤😊

I agree, the Poets signature in this one is clearly noticeable although both lyrics and melody are kept simple compared to Poets’ own songs, obviously to match her other solo songs, and not scream ”written by someone else” right in the listener’s face. It’d be definitely interesting to hear it from Marko, especially since he’s classically trained, so it’d be interested to hear his approach, just like it was nice to hear his version of the song Poets wrote for Johanna Kurkela. But that was probably an exception he made wanting to treat people to a Finnish song written by Poets. Still, lovely to hear it even though I’m not a huge fan if her voice either. I do not mind the operatic style, but her voice just doesn’t ”speak to me” in the same way as for ex. Floor’s does. Btw, Tarja’s not tall, about 165cm or 5 ft 5 in.

Here we go again, I feel a bit sad for those who cant connect to TARJA and repeat this operatic nonsense . By the way TARJA was a cowriter for this and of course producer

5'41/2" without the heels. Tuomas' mother was the piano teacher in Kites who taught Tarja. As for opera, no but close its German Lied singing technique.
She composes on piano and then gives it to the band for them to write around it .
Now her classical technique is something to warm up to but once you do, there is no going back. Others sound so 2 dimensional.

For me it's the opposite. I've liked many singers, usually because I liked their music, but only for one singer I've fallen in love with the voice before I'd even heard one full song or knew anything about her as a person, and that's Tarja. After 20+ years I love her for many other reasons as well, but the voice is what captured me first. That has never happened in the same way with any other singer for me.

No TARJA is not big or tall 5'5". Plus this continual operatic nonsense is rather irksome however gotten use to it

"continual operatic nonsense"...care to explain? I know you are huge Tarja fan, so this felt pretty weird comment. Or did you mean reactor comments...I didn't take that it was too bad. I just love when Tarja sings like this. I don't care her (deepest) chest voice that much, and she often goes bit too far when exaggerating vibrato etc, but when she sings like this, it is just perfect. Goosebumps all over the place...even my soul has them...and I'm not even sure if I have a soul 🙃

@@NightwishArenaI think this was meant for a specific commenter. By “operatic nonsense”, I think they’re talking about the people who say she’s a one trick pony and stuff like that.
