It was very busy and sometimes crowded but what a beautiful place. It was fantastic meeting you and your Mom. Who would have thought the person who inspired us to go to Thailand would stay in the room next door. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻👍🏻😁

Yes, was on Phi Phi back in 1998. Different world back then before the movie The Beach came out. Glad I experienced back then. Way too many people for me now. We went to Maya Bay, think there only 4 long-tail boats in the bay. That was paradise.

I stayed there in early ‘99. So different and over crowded now. Glad I had the chance to go back then.

I was in phi phi during rain season last year, i remember mud everywhere and lot of mosquitos
Looks so nice there as always. shame about the restrictions at Maya bay but they had to do something. Funny to see MacDonald's and burger king on phi phi - that used to be such a budget backpacker island and now the big corporations made it in there.
Krabi is so beautiful. Its nice to see it so alive again. Great video, very enticing.

When I went there in Dec 2021, Maya Bay was still closed and there were about 5 boats in Pileh Lagoon. It was so nice so clean so private but I felt for the locals. Coming out of Covid, you could see how thankful they felt seeing tourists coming back.

So cool you took your mom! Great video, magical experience. I was there during lockdowns, I didn't stop traveling and that was fun. I was worried when the tourists were back it would be too crowded but it doesn't look like it at all. The private boat was such a great move. Great video.

I went wo Phuket for the whole of October in 2011 and I also went on a day trip to Phi Phi island while I was there and it was spectacular and as beautiful as it looks in this video. When I visited in 2011 they still allowed the tourist boats to pull into Maya Bay but I think the new system is much better - it was overrun with tourists and I contributed to that so I completely understand why you now have to reach the island around the back of Maya Bay. This place really is paradise so I understand why so many tourists want to visit, I was a tourist too and I would recommend it to everyone but there's a balance to strike between the much needed tourism which Thailand relies on so heavily and the delicate ecosystem and biodiversity of the islands - I think with the new system they have got that balance right. Thanks for posting this video, it bought back a lot of happy memories for me.

Wow! I went to Phi Phi island in 1999 I think and it was so peaceful. I stayed in a little bungalow room right on Phi Phi Don. There were a few rustic places to eat and a few resorts. I snorkeld in the bays with a few other boats. I'm glad to watch the video but now honestly I never want to go back. I'll hang on to my memories. But I would return to Krabi and Phuket as I did in 2009. I love Thailand ❤

Hey there ! Nice to see you still in Thailand . Just got back last month , was there in March . I stayed in Koh Jump mainly and krabi city . I like Krabi the most of all places in Thailand . For those whom likes to relax and get away from tourist . There is a minibus from Mueang Krabi to Lamkrod pier . The long tail boat will take you to Koh Jump at Mutu pier . The songtiew will be park by the river in front of river view hotel at Krabi town .
koh Phi Phi has developed a lot over the years. Ive only been once back in 1991 and even then it was pretty busy I remember catching a small ship over from Phukhet and it was totally full of tourists. I'm pretty sure there was no accommodation on the island in those days and only local Thai shops and restaurants - very cool though. Not sure if you looked at the back beach? But it is completely different to the main beach. I snorkeled at both beaches and the back beach was full of big sea slugs at least 10 inches long! Scary! I look forward to checking out your next video trip Chok Dee khup

It’s just too bad that the first thing you see when you get off the boat is a McDonald’s and a Burger King 🍔 Aside from that, it’s beautiful!
Had the privilege of being in Krabi Phi Phi island in the late 1980s it was incredible. Very very different now.

I visited back in 2015. It wasn't too crowded but I stayed at a hotel on the opposite side from the village and it could only be reached by boat provided by the hotel. You could hike over the mountain to the village which I did, but the trail through the jungle was poorly marked and that made it quite an adventure. The hotel boat also provided transport back and forth to the village for free. The hotel featured bamboo huts built on stilts over the beach. You could hear the tide coming in beneath the bamboo floors. It was US$45 per night for peace, quiet, privacy and delicious food prepared by the family who owned and operated the hotel. The hotel also took us to Maya Bay in their own Thai longboat.
I've been to Thailand many times but have never been to Phi Phi, always avoided it but it looks beautiful man I wish this place would exist without the mass tourism. I might consider a daytrip next time

I was in phi phi last year and there weren't many tourists, I don't think I'd enjoy it as crowded as it seems to be now, but it's great for tourism and Thailand!

I had the best times of my life in Kho Phi Phi in the eighties. Funnily life took me far away after that. I started going back South Thailand last year and I visited first the island indeed. It's not the same for sure 🙂

My one and only visit to Phi Phi Island was back in 1998, it has sure changed a lot since then, obviously with the rebuilding of the Island after the tsunami, but most noticeably for me was the amount of people there and the type of shops..... (Burger King...wtf!)

One thing that is constant in Thai tourist areas is change. I haven't been to Phi Phi since '92 the main town was just a few market stalls and Maya bay was completely empty. It's still possible to find small coves with bungalows but it used to cost us About $10 per day including meals.
