@@brailianharvey-howard1207 You keep defending them I see. Point is, it's a casual, charity, mario-kart tournament and the Spanish team had 2 professional players, min-maxed builds, and they used high level shortcuts. They took the fun out of it for the people who were playing as it was intended to be played.
As soon as I saw the clan kid matching screen names on Spain's team I knew something was fuckin sus. Actually deplorable when it was classed as casual. It took Dathi literally a simple search to instantly find they had top 100 players making up their squad, how was this not caught?
Nintendo: "This is a casual, friendly tournament. Just have a good time. :)" Spain, about to recreate the Reconquista: "I see no Gods up here. EXCEPT FOR US."
I don’t think I’ve ever been upset watching one of rt’s videos, but man, the Spanish team can just piss off. Good for France, beating rule breaking sweats.
If you want to get upset at another video of RT getting unfairly screwed over in a tournament, I recommend his Cities Skyline video with The Spiffing Brit and two other guys that was sponsored by Red Bull. He and Spiff lost because the other two players catered to the judges by building Red Bull-themed cities. For instance, one of the prompts was to build a park. One of the players, instead of building a park, built a race course that exists in real life and is owned by Red Bull, proceeded to argue that their race track counts as a park because "both are entertainment", and won. I know it's just a game, but that kinda annoyed me.
@@KingNedya you mean in the same tournament where the judges suspected RT of cheating because the goal was to get high Traffic flow and RT managed to get 100% traffic flow with an ABOMINATION of road design and road anarchy?
Nintendo: Okay, so this is a strictly casual tournament. We're just here to have fun. Spain: **Fields a team with 2 pros (100% against the rules), uses min-maxed meta cart combos, takes all the high-level shortcuts, and sweats enough to create a new ocean.** Spain is to online competitions what Russia is the Olympics.

Hey guys, here's a little detail that you might not have seen in the video: If you look very carefully at Daniel during certain races, you will see that he is wearing a golden, inflatable crown on his head. It might take a couple times to see, as it is very subtle. Him wearing the crown is a small nod to the fact that some people, often refered to as "They", used to call him the "Drift King" back in college. Hope y'all enjoyed this little tidbit of lore!
There’s always that one guy that invites you over to his house and then pulls out the Xbox and asks you to play Mortal Kombat. Having never played a videogame before, you agree. That one guy then proceeds to use his meta character and spam an inescapable 50 hit combo. When you inevitably lose without ever touching the ground, he switches to another character and does it all over again. After a couple hours, you put your controller down and respectfully say “Thank you for inviting me” and leave. That one guy then proceeds to whine to his “friends” that no one will hang out with him. Don’t be that one guy.
I remember I had a friend to play Skullgirls with, and they would do an infinite combo and then wonder why I didn't want to play with them or play Skullgirls anymore.
That happened to me but it was not a friend, it was a classmate and the game smash bros ultimate. he would exclusively use joker and hero, forcely pick my character for me, and call me bad when i die.
Didn't Spain just straight up cheat by bringing pros? Also the whole Waluigi Wiggler thing could be easily avoided if the tournament didn't allow people in the same team to use the same loadouts
@@Nex_Nova Tell that to all the people they beat and didn't have a chance to compete fairly, that could've won the tourney if not for them. Nothing was taken care of, they won by upsetting people.
@@s_-cv9uq France saw their strategy on the first match and got beaten by 7 points, they weren't familiar with the game mode and went "guys it's ok, it's the first match no biggie" and proceeded to win every single one, then used the spanish team's strat against them at the end. They're actually really good, not pros at all, but they were really taking it seriously and had really good comms, while also staying joke-y, for example it was one of the french player's birthday, and they all sung him an happy birthday song while the organizer was there lmao Edit : oh also i must mention, while they did want to be against spain in the finals, they also wanted to be against RT, because they were impressed about their 3-0 score while they were 2-1 at that point.
I'm actually kinda salty about the Spain thing. Like did the organizers not do any background checks on the competitors? Admittedly, this is the only perspective I've seen so there's definitely more to the story. Feel free to reply with more info, but it feels like the Spain team took advantage of the lax regulations.
Yeah, im wondering what happened with the whole spain thing. Cause they def should have had beeen eliminated or at the very least had rules or something put in to make it more fair.
@@SilverShelbyUWU the guy that they briefly talked about joining the casual fall guys tournament is also a well known hacker. so how he got into the tournament is beyond me
I'm pretty sad about it too, especially as this was for charity. No matter where they came they were receiving some money for a charity, and to cheat like that is in terrible spirit. If one person per team used the meta build it wouldn't be so bad but a full team is too much IMHO. Prior to that when watching the stream it was so much good fun, but as soon as I saw the full meta team I just sighed. It really took away from the casual and relatable fun, seeing everyone's different karts and characters, and I found it difficult to continue watching. I'm happy Dan and everyone at least had some good fun and we're able to raise some money for a good charity :]
Honestly I'm just starting to get disappointed. The last 3 things with casual tournaments that I watched (outside of MCC) had some sketchy stuff from Spanish players and I'm starting to see a pattern, even though I know the majority are alright. Toasts tournament got completely derailed because of saltyness and just misplaced pride and false facts that were yelled loudly. The fall guys thing. And now in a casual tournament a speedrunner has an entire team of meta builds doing pro-strat shortcuts.... It's just fucking ruining the vibe of these events that some people do that shit.
24:34 honestly the best moment in the twitch rivals stream is the announcers tuning in right at this moment with nogla, the awkward silence from the announcers fucking killed me 😂
Damn, I recognize some of the names of the Spain team, used to watch those guys when I was younger, hard to believe that if this tournament was made 10 years ago I would've been cheering for them and not for the one and only Drift King
The moment I saw the Spanish team's picks (19:33), I just wanted to scream. This, right here, is why I don't choose worldwide mode anymore. I only choose regional mode now. I got so tired of dealing with *this* in every single game.
12:35 Napoleon is, in fact, Corsican, from the island of Corsica, which was under italian and roman control for millenia and hundreds of years before the French took the island because of a rebellion, just in time for the french revolution to happen and for Napoleon to side with the revolutionaries. They didnt play for fun, they played to win. and that is bullshit in a charity event
unfortunately there are people who simply have no chill, I have a personal dislike of minmaxers/optimizers its why I actively avoid online PvP games. They just suck all the fun out of playing. I used to watch muselk play fortnite before I got sick of his voice, and watching some players turn into a ten story building after being shot at just makes me wonder if they have any fun
@The Siamecast they brought pro-players to a casual tournament. That's not being good at a game, it's not following the rules set by organisers. Plus they lost to France in the finals by loads of points, so it didn't even work out for em.
@The Siamecast I mean, context is important here. If you take only what's said in the video into account, then the Spanish team 1. Has a top 100 Mariokart player participating in a casual tournament, little sketch, but for all we know he's number 100, so honestly not that damning. 2. Has someone known for entering casual tournaments as a pro-player and taking the prize. This is especially sketch because those past tournaments were for actual money, not just charity. This combined with number 1 is extra damning, but wouldn't be damning on its own. 3. The whole team entered the lobby of a casual Mariokart event using a pro-meta strategy + were using exploits throughout the races, something that other teams could have done (See RT telling Terrorizer not to do a Bullet Bill skip in the airport track). This alone would be fine if it were casual players who just knew a few tricks, but again, pro-players + past history of entering events as pros to take the prize sets this whole thing in a bad light. No one is saying they're automatically a bad person because they're good at Mariokart, but knowing you're good at a game then entering an event organized for casual players is a little bit sketchy, and extra sketchy if you have a past history of doing so with the intent to take the prize money.
Fun Fact: "Feck" is not a swear. It is an Irish expression of frustration and also a word that means "to toss". As in, "I fecked the ball across the yard" Or "Ah feck, the ball fell into the neighbor's yard" It is a socially acceptable word.
I was kinda zoning out through the video, so when RT went "ok so we just gotta go through team Rubius" I got the nastiest case of whiplash, that's what actually made me realize "oh -shit- _shoot,_ they're beating people from literally all around the world" Edit: Holy heck, did the Spain team *actually* cheat?! Like honestly I'm not even surprised, I'm just in awe! What the actual frick?!
i really hate poeple that genuinely use the waluigi wiggle quad combo. sweaty tryhards, they need to remove secret stats and add a higher cost for all that speed and acceleration. otherways they just need to BAN that combo form competitions. still you guys got very far in this, good job.
Well, it was supposed to be a strictly casual tournament, so they probably didn't think they needed to worry about banning meta stuff like that. They probably also didn't expect Spain to cheat and bring in two professional players. Spain honestly should have been disqualified. At least they lost to France in the finals.
Yeah when I got into Mario Kart 7 and discovered secret stats I was amazed that they were hidden, because they are SO important. So important, in fact, that I spent hours making a spreadsheet that automatically calculated every stat (including secret stats) for every character and vehicle combo and compared them against each other, and I paid just as much if not more attention to the secret stats than the ones that are shown in-game. By the way, although the spreadsheet was probably pretty sweaty, I should note that I intentionally avoided looking into metas, because I wanted to base my build purely off of experimentation and my own analysis of the stats, and I hate metas just as much as everyone else.
I never knew that was a meta thing. I would usually go with it because I thought it looked funny! Granted, I'm not very good at mario kart so maybe that's how I was able to not ALWAYS lose. But yeah, sucks when things aren't balanced correctly so people HAVE to go with one option.
Tbf, if they banned it, people would just use the second meta, and third, etc. Its not like a Magik tournament where a single card can be the goal of a deck. Theres only so many combos of racer/kart/wheels, and they all are trying to do the same thing
It's hilarious to see people getting mad at the spanish team because this anger was also shared by the french team which tryharded like nobody during the finals. hi from France and sorry if my english isn't correct
It's because Spanish teams have been sweaty greasy tryhards that ruin the fun for the rest in multiple tournaments before this one. God bless the French for beating their asses. The French language might be an abomination but at least they know how to out-sweat the sweats
Daithi and Terroriser screaming swears at each other followed by Dan just murmuring "heck" cracks me up every single time. I also watched it live and was pretty sad to see spain getting away with bringing a competitive team to twitch rivals again and again
Your team did great on the tournament ! I wished the finale would have been Ponce team versus RTGame team, I would have loved to see my two favorite streamers fight on mario kart
Same, it would have been a lengendary moment, and they probably would have had more fun than against Team Spain. But who knows that could happen someday.
Every time I see Dan with facecam I get happy :) Also it was so surreal seeing the Irish crew racing against a Dutch streamer/youtuber I watched when I was 10. Made me very happy.
My favourite moment in this video is Brian's sheer shock and joy that his race was picked during the randomised race select. It sounds so real and he's so excited that he has, indeed, "won".
I know it's supposed to be a casual tournament and I'm sure the lads had a great time but it does feel kind of unfair that spanish players always seem to cheat when there's a twitch rival's event and twitch doesn't do anything about it.
The team Spain controversy was hilarious, only Mario Kart can create so much hatred towards a nation (in a video game sense). Glad to hear they lost tho!
@@Jezzibolt don't forget the Fall Guys one as well :) 3 tournies in a row. If I was an organiser for a casual tournament, I'd have banned all spaniards from joining any type of tournament based solely off this fact alone
@@RepstarVixenI'm hesitant to ban entire groups based on uncontrolled affiliations like nationality since you catch so many innocents with that kind of policy, but definitely the specific people involved should all be unwelcome and new teams should be made aware they're under additional scrutiny due to those actions. Combined with, and I wish this didn't have to be said, *actually applying* additional scrutiny and being prepared to enact sanctions or DQs. Being logistically and emotionally prepared to ban people mid-event is unfortunately one of the most important parts of being a tournament organizer, and sadly most people only learn that the hard way. To be fair to them, Napoleon was Corsican, and if he had been born a couple weeks earlier he actually would have been an Italian citizen.

@The Siamecast they brought pro-players to a casual tournament. That's not being good at a game, it's not following the rules set by organisers.
Plus they lost to France in the finals by loads of points, so it didn't even work out for em.
@The Siamecast it’s not the fact that they are “good”, it’s that they sucked the fun out of the whole thing.
@The Siamecast because Pro Players and Speedrunners are banned for the tournament.
Guess which team has both.

I think there's something wrong with me, because when I read "to toss", I did not think about throwing things.

i really hate poeple that genuinely use the waluigi wiggle quad combo. sweaty tryhards, they need to remove secret stats and add a higher cost for all that speed and acceleration. otherways they just need to BAN that combo form competitions. still you guys got very far in this, good job.

What happen in this tournament?
Spain could barely win their own civil war they gotta win some things
Spanish Paralympic basketball team has entered the chat
I need to see an ace attorney animation where phoenix is cross examining Dan's testimony about the drift king tournament
"Yes, for you see, it was I who hired the pro Mario Kart players to destroy RT and his team!"
"Von Karma, no!"
Always good to get more MK content from The Drift King
*M*anfred *K*arma
I read that as Mortal Kombat and now I'm imagining RT doing sick drifts as Sub Zero.
@@KingNedya amazing lol
It’s honestly impressive that they were able to hold their own against professional players, and they even made it to the Semi-Finals
I love how RT is always in a suit
Seeing Sabaku and Cydonia on the screen was so jarring, it's hilarious. What an incredible crossover episode, and poor Cydo. To think that I follow them both but an irish drift king is how I find out about this tournament.
Edit: teaches me to comment before finishing the video. Wtf Spain?
spain lost to france btw. it was absolutely beautiful
I like the character arc of RT actually becoming good at mario kart again across his videos
I am angry that the team with the professional speed runners wasn't disqualified.
i love the instant fear at seeing the opposing team is entirely dutch
