We're hooked! Oh wait, we already were. We especially love the "gray boats" that we find, weathered beyond most folks recognition, the ones that were waiting for a ride to the landfill. It's rewarding to restore them and return them to their natural habitat. Great video, nice job weaving the history in with the restoration. Huzzah!

Thank you very much! We're very glad people like you continue to divert these boats from destruction. We're working on a new episode - just wrapped a week in the Thousand Islands.

I had a 1930 DeeWite Model six. It's a very unique boat. People always remark about how beautiful they are. I don't have the boat anymore but I have a lot of original parts for it and the original factory catalog. Great story and I'm glad to see the DeeWites get some recognition. As with many of the boat brands of this era that were victims of the depression, many people don't know about them. Thanks for a great report and keep up the good work.

Thank you for sharing. We had never heard of Dee-Wite prior to that day of filming. We loved the story, and it is great that you have these items. The original factory catalog is probably extremely rare. Thanks for watching! More to come.

Awesome video. My dad has a 1931 Dee white 19ft split cockpit that needs to be restored at some point. My dad found it in a garage in Detroit. There definitely is not much info on these old boats luckily I found this video.

Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. We're always on the hunt for more wooden boat stories. And, we just wrapped production of a new episode shot in the Thousand Islands region of New York.

Nice Job! I have been looking for a series like this. It is worthy of the History or MotorTrend Channels. Just a small correction in the dialog - Century boats were produced in Manistee, MI, about 250 miles west of Algonac, MI.

Yes. We appreciate the feedback on this point. There wasn't a good way to edit the content to make this point after the fact. We appreciate you watching the show and contributing to the record. Thank you.

Thank you very much for watching, and for your comment! We really appreciate it. We think antique and classic boats have a broad appeal. We wish we could have filmed Deco on the water, as there is no substitute for seeing and hearing these boats under power. In fact, shortly after we filmed this episode we were trying to get some drone footage of Deco on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Unfortunately, just before that shoot, Deco struck a submerged object and lost her rudder.
Experience tells us you can't tow one of these boats anywhere without people flocking up to it and asking all about it. Some folks love to get into the ins and outs of restoration. Some folks just like to look at them. As we say, every classic boat comes with a great story. We have more episodes in the pipeline, and look forward to posting episode #2 very soon.

That's a beautiful boat and its well-presented however Century Boats were built in Manistee Michigan not Algonac.

It's interesting that for being so rare and for being so well-built as they are, they don't command a lot of money.

Thank you for watching, and for your comment. Finding a solid, well maintained, antique wooden boat can be a very affordable way to get into recreational boating. There are lots of resources available for maintaining an old, wooden boat.
