I am so thankful that a unexpected opportunity opened up for me to purchase a 24 TRD off-road premium for 4000.00 under MSRP, I was not looking for a vehicle at the time, but I did some research and realized this will be the last simple, durable & reliable vehicle that's gonna be made, possibly in my life time, I snagged it up & absolutely no regrets, if no accidents, I will be driving it for the rest of my life.
It’s hard on fuel and it’s not exactly strong on the low end. I’d rather have a 6th Gen in a couple years. The 3rd Gen Taco feels cheap compared to the 5th Gen 4R. The 4R is bit upmarket and has better materials.
I don’t know how old you are, but I doubt you’ll be driving it for 30-40 years. It’s a nice notion, but it’s like people buying their “forever home”-things change
56, I have a 97 f350 & a 98 Tacoma, I don't like all the new electronic bullshit, I can just about guarantee I'll be driving this 4 runner till I die, unless I crash n burn with it
@@JoeMNPT I don’t know where you’ve been but if prices keep going up for the next 30 and 40 years, that decision changes quite quickly. Lets not act like people got money to throw away lately because everything has compounded along with inflation lately. Next vehicle bought is gonna be already 50k plus Btw.😂
Seeing this coming last spring, I traded my older 5th Gen 4Runner for a '24 TRD ORP. Didn't really need to, but now I have one of the last of the good ones, and it should last longer than me. Resale on the 5th Gen should stay outstanding.
A lot of people are going to switch to the 2025 Passport. Looks great, their vtm4 is fantastic on most off road situations and insane in snow and the vehicle is way way roomier.
For fun, I configured a 25’ TRD ORP just like my 24’ TRD ORP. It was $12,000 more than I paid. (I wasn’t lucky/savvy enough to get under MSRP, but did get MSRP). 🤯
@@CrippleCreekStudios Wow, that's wild! Again, the value just isn't there in these new Toyotas. Glad you were able to get into a 5th gen! Even at MSRP, you got your ORP at a bargain compared to what the 6th gens are going for. Thanks for watching!
I've got a '19 SR5 premium, that's paid for with 84k miles on it. I feel like I'll be just fine sticking with that for a good long while. These 6th gens have sold me though, on getting some aftermarket tail and headlights though! 😅
Toyota is charging so much, its as if they just included the savings on repairs you would *maybe* have to do if you purchased a competitor. That savings is more and more theoretical though as toyota’s quality slips. May as well gamble on a competitor then.
They did make a 2wd 5th gen Limited, although they didn't make many of them. I don't think they sold any where I live in Minnesota. Glad I got my 2024 Limited 4wd. I drove my 4Runner back to back with a 4th gen Tacoma and just thought the Runner felt so much better built I took it home.
My 1997 LTD listed at 35k and my 2015 LTD listed at 42k, Thats a 20% increase over 18 years. now it looks like a 2025 will list around 60k. That's almost a 50 percent increase over 10 years.

why would you not say what you got your ORP for? they are what they are. I got my 2024 ORP with blackout and TRD rims / sunroof for 51K. It was 4k off sticker so I got lucky. Mine is white, which was not my 1st choice but I jumped at the package. This is what these things cost.....
I have a 2023 ORP. White wasn't my first choice either, but it was the RIGHT choice. With the ceramic tints it doesn't even get hot. I've never liked red or blue cars, black never again, their magnetic grey looked purple to me... white was it. And I love it with the tints and black wheels. This 6th gen sucks.
@stevenm6301 White was my second choice. It looks super clean with tint and black wheels. And yes, the 6th gen has no character, just like the 4th gen Tacoma.
Yeah pricing too high, expecting discounts on the higher trims to be eventually $7k off msrp just like the new tacomas. Best "value" would go to the SR5.... 🤷♀️🤦
You got burned selling your Tundra and you are butt hurt from that. You could have a new engine for free. 6gen is light years advance to the 5gen. Gas saving, towing capacity and off roading is world apart from the 5gen.
Hard to justify even the same price much less more in the price when they took 2 cylinders and downgraded the interior and installed a new unproven powertrain. People would be more receptive if it was priced quite lower as it should be. Inflation or not, it just doesn’t have the rep to stand on.
I believe that you will see somewhat more better quality in the new 4 Runner then you will in the new Tacoma only because of where they are built, & materials being used in those respective plants, hence why the new land cruiser seems a lot better built and more quality because they’re built in Japan the 4Runner as well will be built out of Japan that all being said I won’t consider for one second trading in my fifth GEN4Runner for a newly designed six GEN anytime soon ,they will need to be proven without a shadow of a doubt as capable of a machine as a fifth GEN before I would ever consider it
