I think 3 of those judges were wrong to give ssb64kysk only a 9 on his first combo. First attempt, fast pace, combo did not reset to 1, and FALCON punch. The commentators were right to criticize those 3 judges for not giving kysk a 10. If that was Prince he would have gotten all 10s. 2020/2021 Edit: The commentators even call out about judges’ bias for Prince and even said he is more likely to get 10s since its Prince. Furthermore, Prince got 7s and 8s for not completing combos.

Prince's combos are so far the craziest things ever seen. Even when failing he shows glitches and sometimes aggressive combos that make a lot of people pop off. As far as I love the other entries, they don't have *that* crazy element in it. It's seen and seen again, so there's no surprise they give Prince's tries high scores even when unfinished. I feel like the only reason why KYSK went further this year was because he first tried the combos. They were fun to watch, but again, no crazy elements in it. This is so frustrating to watch, they need to sit every player down at the same time on their own monitors and give them 10 minutes, at the end of the 10 minutes they show the best completed combo for each player and judge, then on to the next round..... This frustrates me so much watching this
Each judge needs a specific thing they grade so these combos can be graded fairly. That way there’s no biased opinions on a player, but instead, their combo. Style/Creativity 1-10, keeping the count of a combo/number of hits 1-10, difficulty/items/setup 1-10, attempts until made 1-10, and lastly, maybe hype/excitement/pop off of crowd or something like that 1-10. This would definitely help when someone either doesn’t get close to finishing their combo, gets almost all the way through their combo, or completes it in its entirety. You might get a good grade on creativity, even though you didn’t complete it. Maybe you completed it and dropped the combo. In my opinion, there should be one person grading each of those aspects. Hopefully they get to that point some day soon. Maybe this year in 2020?
I love watching boom's reactions. hbox and esam are very over-the-top with reacting to big combos, but boom just looks very critical of everything and then he'll give a big smile. you see that smile and you know that combo was lit check 55:20 for example
KYSK showed a unique return to the fundamentals that used to define the combo contest. We've become so absorbed into increasingly complex and nearly unviable combos that every other competitor came in with something that just couldnt be replicated on stage. They expected that someone at least would be able to finish their overcomplicated combo and set the bar too high for them to win if they went for a simpler combo. The meta has shifted, you need consistent combos.

This year felt more like a popularity contest than previous events in my opinion. I mean the two favorites got extra time, and even got a 10 from one of the judges with a combo drop. At one point the commentators said they wanted the other two contestants to bomb so prince could stay in lol. Joking or not, it really made it feel overall less professional and less technical.
I kinda wish they could prepare a (possibly tool assisted) demo of what all the combos were supposed to look like after the contest is over, or compile all of the completed combo videos from the competitors' social media pages in post production and incorporate it into the final video
I think to improve the show if someone fails to do their combo, you should play a recording of when they did it successfully, though still give no credit or at least drop some points. Also I feel like contestants should do a safety combo up front so they can fall back on that if they fail the real one, but still show the video of the real combo.

This year felt more like a popularity contest than previous events in my opinion. I mean the two favorites got extra time, and even got a 10 from one of the judges with a combo drop. At one point the commentators said they wanted the other two contestants to bomb so prince could stay in lol. Joking or not, it really made it feel overall less professional and less technical.
the guy in the middle gave prince a 8 for a non completed combo but gave kysk an 8 for a completed combo.

I kinda wish they could prepare a (possibly tool assisted) demo of what all the combos were supposed to look like after the contest is over, or compile all of the completed combo videos from the competitors' social media pages in post production and incorporate it into the final video

I think to improve the show if someone fails to do their combo, you should play a recording of when they did it successfully, though still give no credit or at least drop some points. Also I feel like contestants should do a safety combo up front so they can fall back on that if they fail the real one, but still show the video of the real combo.

@@Eichro its not only whatever comes out that is Rng but sometimes also what the actual pokemon do Plus you can think of it as a cool concept but in N64 the possible pokemons wouldnt give for nice combos either way IMO maybe Charizard with juggling or like sending back and forth with a Starmie but apart from that what are you gonna do?
Theres: Charizard, Blastoise, Beedrill, Clefairy (which is even more random), Meowth, Onix, Hitmonlee, Koffing, Chansey, Goldeen (which actually does nothing), Starmie, Snorlax and Mew which also does nothing.

i think eliminating players from advancing is a bad call. it should be like a skate boarding competition where everyone can progress through the rounds in order to make a comeback. it would also allow everyone to show off the combos that they have been prepping all year for.
