    Man the effort, time, attention to detail, and production value of this testing has not gone unnoticed sir!!! I’ve ordered 360 rounds of the Maker Rex 200gr ammo for home defense and hunting out of a 10.5” Rosco 1/7 barrel...I’m supremely confident they’ll expand reliably in any soft target 100 yards or less without fail!!! Excellent video sir

      How’s the 300 subs work for you on deer n hogs? I shoot hogs with an 18” 300blk loaded with 147gr ballistic tip supers, and it’s a pig hammer.

      @@jpoeng didn’t realize you were being sarcastic. I know a guy who uses 210 grain ballistic tip subs with a can on hogs on his property because the neighbors complained about him eliminating the nuisance ripping up his orchards. He slays em.

    • @jpoeng
      @jpoeng ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Natedoc808 Oh, I did say hogs, too, above, didn’t I? Yeah, I meant it then, but that was 4 years ago, and thinking more about how much less energy they have than the supers, and the pretty poor terminal performance most subs seem to be showing, I’d stick with deer for the subs I think.

    😂😂😂When the table fell down...love it. Been watching your 300blk videos for years. Love your channel. You are my go-to for 300blk reload tweaks and advice. 300blk is so versatile that every time I have a question about changing a powder or changing a bullet, you've tested and answered the question. Your stepwise methods of conducting the science are excellent 👍

    Good demonstration, I liked how the table fell down. (Good comic relief) Anyway It was good to see what those Bullets do @ range out to 100 yards. Not many people on the internet do that with gel tests. It would be interesting to see what the Hennery rifle does with cast bullets shot into gel, Something you might want to so in the future. also more on that subject, One bullet that shoots extremely well at range is the Lyman #358311, It's not the most Intimating looking however it is accurate. Good video dude. I like your commentary. Dave

    We took several deer this past season with the 194gr lehigh loaded subsonic. It killed deer as well as the supersonic blackout loads, all exited except one at a quartering angle, and it was right under the skin. I saved it, it had petals bent back on one side only, so i think it may have tumbled. Anyways, deer went 30 yards and fell dead

    I like that you shot the 200gr Maker Rex ammo out of the 10.5” 300 Blackout Pistol/SBR and not just the 16” rifle, and letting that be the “speak-all”for the 300 blackout AR style platform. I like the way Maker Rex bullets expanded. What would have been the difference in penetration if you have used the FBI Gel instead? Liked the video, will be searching through your content for more. I left this comment on episode 13 it should have been on this one
    take a look at to lehigh defense bullets these will be supersonic loads.
    (1) 115 grain Controlled Chaos copper ( I got some for about $40.00 and that is 100 not 50
    next I believe it is an 87 grain 30 caliber design for the 30 carbine it looks like one of there pistol bullets and does not expand I believe it's called a cavitator I would be curious to know if one they function in the AR-15 and number two what kind of velocity can you get out of them and accuracy

    I am really grumbling that you shot the Lehigh Max Exp out of the Carbine rather than the 8.5" ... why, why, why. I am grumbling so hard right now. Here I was, sitting here waiting for the 8.5 with the Lehighs and 296 ... and you changed the game. Arrrrgggggh! So I am sitting here with a couple of hundred Lehigh 194 Max Expansion and all the 296 I'll need and ... bang, misdirection. Wait ... there we go? That's more like it? Did you just switch back to the 8.5 with the Lehighs? I am so confused. ETA: FWIW I spoke with Justin at Lehigh and he said those Max Expansions are made to be sent at around 980 fps. Absolutely no more than 1020 fps but even that is really too fast.

      What do you mean by max range? Good setups can get 500 yards, with 50% more energy than 5.56/.223. 10.5" is optimal length for 300BO. Keep a 1:7 twist rate for subs and you should do well.

    • @ghengisswanson3923
      @ghengisswanson3923 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bryanst.martin7134 you're not going to 500 with subs unless you like dropping bullets onto target like a mortar, and it'd still be a bit of a task with supers even out of a 16 inch barrel. It has been done and is possible, but I wouldn't hunt anything past 100, maybe 150 yards with either subs or supers. Even within 150 yards the subs drop is unforgiving for hunting

    so with that deformed bullet could that mean if it hits a bone before fully expanding it could be turned into a "fmj" so bullet placement in hunting could be a diffrence of a good kill n a bad wound...

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The way the plastic filled up the hollow point was interesting. I don't think bone would do exactly the same since it should shatter more, but I absolutely have concerns. I wouldn't try to put either these bullets through a shoulder. I'll be looking for shot placement just like I'm bow hunting. Behind the shoulder, double lung or heart shots. When IV8888 and MAC did their Lehigh commercials they put some of the 194's through bone and still got expansion. The pedals deformed a bit but it still did the job. th-cam.com/video/JDym4GXrPRw/w-d-xo.htmlm15s
