OMG, I went to Las Adelitas in Prague last July, and it was surprisingly good! Being a Mexican myself I didn't know what to expect and it was actually very good.
This is great to hear, I've been to Las Adelitas a couple of times and honestly it's the closest I've gotten to authentic Mexican cuisine (I've never traveled outside Europe) so hearing it's actually decent is heartwarming. 🥰

Mexican here, going to Prague in July. I can tell you the difference between tacos and burritos: tacos are Mexican, Burritos are not (mostly a tex-mex thing). A more technical answer is that tacos are made with corn tortillas (mostly), have a main filling (steak, chicken, whatever,) and only onion and coriander as toppings. Burritos are made with flour tortillas only and have meat, beans, rice and veggies as fillings, plis they are wrapped. Looking forward to visiting Prague and maybe even try the Mexican restaurant. It looks very authentic!

I agree, with you, but the burritos from Chi resemble more like a big taco with flour tortilla. No american cheese, pinto whole beans or rice in them. I love me some burritos from chi, though.
So, I grew up in California and lived in Santa Ana(the most Mexican populated city in California (when I lived there) and I lived in La Mission in Baja near Encinada for 6 months..so, I know authentic Mexican food. I lived in Praha for a little over 2 years and have been to Las Adelitas a couple times. IT'S NOT authentic Mexican food(their produce/meat options are limited so don't blame them), but IT IS pretty damn good! I highly recommend it if you're interested in seeing the Czech version of Mexican. It's an interesting spin, but still really good! One "Hispanic cuisine" I would DEFINITELY avoid would be Burrito Loco....unless you're shit faced lol it's like a burrito place "Subway"(the sandwich place) style. It's really fuckin weird, but after 15-20 beers? I'd still go to Las Adelitas. Las Adelitas is a sit down restaurant and Burrito Loco is more of a takeout or "takeaway"(as they say in CZ)place. DEFINITELY CZECH(most overused play on words) IT OUT!

Heck, in Asia, the best restaurants and food stands are the ones that both are hidden away but also looks run down. It's the ones that looks great and are out in the open that you should be weary off.

I was last in Prague when I was 10 years old on a family holiday. We used to eat most nights at the beautiful Europa Hotel on Wenceslas Square. Great food and amazing value then in what was an architectural gem. Part way through the holiday the Russians invaded and the Prague Spring was brutally crushed. It was 1968 and I shall never forget the Czech people remonstrating with the tank crews. And now Ukraine…..

I'm glad you guys are just mainstream meat/potato/beer eaters. There is a wonderful vegan restaurant just off the Plaza that can remain local for the connoisseur and wont get inundated by obnoxious tourists. Keep up the good work, very entertaining!
I've just been to stridacka... The prices are nowhere near where you mentioned. Probably because it is during the season now. But I had one of the best meals that I ever had. The carpaccio and the chicken you had.. Well I will be back for lunch.. Thank you so much for highlighting, would have missed it!
Had a great meal at Stridacha last night. Real buzz as someone was having a birthday party. We wanted to sample the local atmosphere and came here on your recommendation. Food was excellent and the beer most quaffable. It’s only a small venue but we had made a reservation so no problem getting in. Recommended!

Me and my partner went to Prague back in January and found a really nice little restaurant near powder gate tower but also tried stridacka on evening and was really good In there. Food was amazing and the staff were all really nice too. Thanks for the recommendation. Honest Guide was so helpful and also wolters world is another good one too 👍
As a Mexican, I would recommend Adelitas if you live in Europe and miss real Mexican food. Beware some items are Tex-Mex, and although I would not recommend their tacos--although authentic the tortilla is kinda stale and the meat tends to arrive cold, tacos at any restaurant for most people from Mexico is not really something good enough (the tacos end up being cold). What I do recommend is their soups, enchiladas, fried taquitos, the pibil plates, all authentic and good. The burritos, although a Tex Mex thing here, are also pretty good, and the margaritas are excellent! So although not the best Mexican place in the world, I'd say it's probably one of the bests I ve had in terms of authenticity and goodness in Europe outside of England and the Iberian Peninsula. I can get picky, but those Adelitas guys deserve a lot of praise.
The prices are crazy, so cheap. I live in England and could only dream of paying that amount for that quality food at a restaurtant in my area. Prague continues to amaze me
Depends where you live in England, the pasta prices and the Burrito prices are similar to what I would pay, cheaper but not by much. When I first visited Prague in 2004 beer was the equivalent of 49p a pint and you could get a decent 2 course meal with a drink for 4 people for less than 20 quid...

There is a really good eatery across, and just down the street from the Smichov metro station. It ain't fancy, there is no seating. They serve the best meatloaf, with a salted bun, and mustard. There are other meat options as well.
i just went to random czech restaurants with good google rating and got local cheap food with massive amounts of meat (meals where around 14€) so dont stress about it and obviously dont eat in the middle of the square or in the castle.
I'm traveling to Prague in the next few months and will definitely try Las Adelitas. While I love trying the traditional local cuisine when I travel, I also like to see other countries/regions takes on international cuisine. The best Chinese food I've ever had was in Ireland, the best Italian was in Canada(with Poland as a close second), my favorite meal in Paris was a traditional English breakfast fry up, and the best German meal I've had was in Mesa, Arizona.

I just found your page, I'm so happy to see that our delicious cuisine can be found in Prague! (I'm of Mexican descent and live in Texas 🤠) We have a very famous (to us Texans) Czech Stop bakery in West, TX that we always stop on our way down to Mexico on I35.😊 😊😊
1:25 Frozen pizza might not be everything, but then again, if you're spending 3 euros more on every meal that you have (plus whatever you'd potentially have to pay for public transport to get to those restaurants, the drinks you'll have over there won't come for free either...), it tends to add up at the end of the month. Apparently Janek makes the kind of money that he can spend around 25 euros per day (or around 750 euros per month) on 3 restaurant meals, but not everybody is in that fortunate position. ;)
I would like to recommend restaurant St. Martin near Mala Strana, have been 4 days in Prague but twice there for dinner because it was so good. Super fresh ingredients, great cusine and very reasonable prices. The staff was also super nice. But we were just tourists, look it up for yourselves, the reviews are very good :)
We came today for the first time to Brno CZ. Loved the city. Amazing. But got " robbed " crossing between Slovakia and CZ.. 19€ for the vignette when we crossed the border (afraid that it wouldn't be another place further to buy and we would receive a ticket) just to find 200mts later the automatic machine to buy it... sad how a country allow those cashiers to sell so much more expensive something that should have a price tag fixed.
I'm Mexican American, but I can get pletnty of Mexican food at home, so I want to try that Stridacka place. I had a great soup yesterday at this Czech place.

Had the worst case of food poisoning ever from a restaurant on the square. Had the duck only to find the bile duct was still in it , which i found when biting into it. Although some years ago i can still taste it.
Just one thing that was not properly specified: the exemplified dishes are "cheap" because they belong to the daily menu. So limited offer only at lunch on working days. The rest of the menu has higher prices.
Couple years ago, guess 5? i found the las adelitas in the city center, they had 1+1 free on margaritas at that moment, I thought they were no alcoholic, omg i was sooo wrong i was so drunk hahah i ate all the food in 1 evening, it was SO good Later i knew to stop after a couple of drinks lol

Yeah, comparing these prices to Finland where I live, they´re very affordable. Here everything is at least double or triple the price.

but your average pay is not 1000 euros

Hey, we went to Střídačka today. What a gem. Our dog got a bowl of water before I could order anything.
Las adelitas is unbelievably good, i went there twice for evening meals..... the margaritas are great too
There are good quality frozen pizzas and sometimes it's a backup dish

We came today for the first time to Brno CZ. Loved the city. Amazing. But got " robbed " crossing between Slovakia and CZ.. 19€ for the vignette when we crossed the border (afraid that it wouldn't be another place further to buy and we would receive a ticket) just to find 200mts later the automatic machine to buy it... sad how a country allow those cashiers to sell so much more expensive something that should have a price tag fixed.
you had to buy it in advance ONLINE like verey normal human being - rules agiven, the fine is correct, shut up!!!!
I'm Mexican American, but I can get pletnty of Mexican food at home, so I want to try that Stridacka place. I had a great soup yesterday at this Czech place.

Whenever I visit Prague I go to 2kk near namesti miru station, nice food and if its summer night can sit outside with a view of the church and square
Had the worst case of food poisoning ever from a restaurant on the square. Had the duck only to find the bile duct was still in it , which i found when biting into it. Although some years ago i can still taste it.
Just one thing that was not properly specified: the exemplified dishes are "cheap" because they belong to the daily menu. So limited offer only at lunch on working days. The rest of the menu has higher prices.

Couple years ago, guess 5? i found the las adelitas in the city center, they had 1+1 free on margaritas at that moment, I thought they were no alcoholic, omg i was sooo wrong i was so drunk hahah i ate all the food in 1 evening, it was SO good
Later i knew to stop after a couple of drinks lol
