Kamal’s story: Finding safe and inclusive employment through a sustainable enterprise

Kamal is the receptionist at the Transformation Salon in Kalyan, Mumbai, India. The salon was developed by the nonprofit Kinnar Asmita, with support from the EpiC project, to create a sustainable and diversified funding stream for the locally-led HIV response. Kamal, who is transgender, discusses her previous struggles with finding steady employment due to discrimination, how she loves working at the salon, and how the salon helps fellow members of the trans community access beauty services in a friendly and safe environment.
