Neeta’s story: Cofounding a sustainable enterprise to support the HIV response in India

Neeta Kene is the founder of Kinnar Asmita, an Indian community-based organization that works with more than 3,000 transgender people to protect their rights, health and livelihoods. Kinnar Asmita, with support from the EpiC project, developed the Transformation Salon in Kalyan, Mumbai to create a sustainable and diversified funding stream for the locally-led HIV response. The business also provides transgender people with greater economic opportunities within a safe and inclusive environment.
