I would recommend something on Setubal region, that you'd probably love, and that is Sesimbra. It's basically a former fisherman village that turned into a tourist city, it has both a great beach and environment, and also some of the greatest fish on the country, mostly really fresh grilled fish but it's amazing.

Portugal is an extremely underrated country. I can only imagine that the main reason is that Spain is right next to it on the Iberian Peninsula and everyone knows Spain, not Portugal.

I would sugest Mafra also... Monestary and nature walks at the Tapada de Mafra. Near you have Ericeira.

Rute Sacramento I have a very old one with some basic stuff. some of my very first videos. not sure if it is even on this channel :) I most likely will be back in Porto next summer and will do a top 10 and 5 love and hates. I really enjoy the city. I wanted to do my PhD in Porto, but ended up doing my PhD in Lisbon for 5 years

Hey Mark! Hope you get to see this comment. My professor lived in Lisboa over ten years ago and was assaulted 3 times. Does he have awful luck or do you really have to watch yourself in Lisboa. I've been to Brasília and São Paulo and didn't have any security issues whatsoever and my professor found it ironic how he's never had any security issues in Brazil either. What are your thoughts of safety these days? Thanks.
+Cristian Diaz Your Professor is really, really, really unlucky... Portugal is the 11º most secure country in the World, Brazil is the 11º most violent.... You can`t even compare them. Myself, 20 years in Lisbon, never got assaulted and even had people return me my cell phone and wallet once that i had left in a restaurant.
I once met a Portuguese man in Austria and he told me that in Portugal tourists must be careful because his countrymen are bad people. He repeated this many times. Maybe Mark was just lucky?
***** Portugal is one of the safest and peaceful countries in the World... and portuguese people are also very welcoming, unlike people form Austria who tend to be rude and arrogant.
Ze Manel I wrote we met in Austria. No Austrians were rude towards Portuguese. In fact that man was actually a guest at an Austrian family. I don't know why he talked so negatively about his people.

All the American media we see here is trashy, ostentatious, tacky, contrived and blatantly unintellectual. Seeing you, my opinion on Americans is starting to change, lol.
Not to sound pretentious, but do Americans even have 'highbrow' newspapers, television channels or magazines? :P
