You are right😁 I miss it so much ! Life can be so easy and convenient in China! I can walk on the street in a random city or town and ask gor help or ask people if I can join them for a meal if I happen to need that, it’s like you have the whole country as your family, feels great!
@@peacefulworldh9902 but most Chinese seemingly love money more which entices them to leave to try and find their fortune… only to realise they were already rich.
Hi, Yan- You should never ride a bike that you can't lay on its side, and then stand back up, because it will be too heavy for you. The scooter is a great choice due to its low center of gravity. The closer to the ground the engine/gear box is, the lighter the top end will be. Also, you should always assume that people in cars haven't noticed, or can't see you. Never ride right beside a car- always follow or pass. If you're in their blind spot, they may merge into your lane forcing you off of the road, or worse. When you get really comfortable, that's when you're MOST likely to have your first accident. Never forget how exposed you are on a bike. I wish you all the luck in the world, and to have lots of fun. Take short trips to begin with, because your body needs to adjust, and you'll get tired quickly at first. Daily exercise helps big time. I hope you find this helpful, and have a great day!
What a fantastic country. Such a culture of helpfulness...You had no hesitation asking people for help even to borrow a ramp from a construction site and they instantly said yes with no hassle. I can tell you with absolute certainty that would not have happened so easily in the US. We hesitate and think twice and more before even asking for help from strangers and absolutely no construction site would let you just borrow something."That's a lawsuit waiting to happen". What a culture!
I've been riding for twenty years now and the best advice I can give for long, all day rides is to always use ear plugs. You can still hear everything around you, but they eliminate high frequency wind whistle. You'll be able to ride longer and feel less tired at the end of the day.
@@pteh2958 You can still hear everything important, ear plugs don't make you completely deaf (not that there is anything wrong with deaf riders). Better ear plugs than to develop hearing loss, or worse, tinnitus.
I am so grateful to have found your channel Yan! I have been studying Chinese for 3 years and kept saying how it would be nice to visit China but because I have no one to travel with, I had resigned myself to never going. But after finding your channel, and watching how confident and capable you are in traveling alone, I’ve decided that I can do it too! It will be a few years before I’ve saved up the money (flights are so expensive!) but I’m definitely going to come and spend 3 weeks visiting your beautiful country! Thank you for all of the wonderful content you create and for inspiring me!
Dear Yan, I´ve been following you for a year now but never got the courage to leave a comment😅Thank you for taking and sharing with us all your adventures throughout China! Wishing you all the best on this new chapter, take care❤
Congratulations! I used to share Flo’s opinion that scooters aren’t motorbikes, but I changed my tune when I moved to China. I’ve been riding for 35 years, in many countries and on dozens of different bikes. I’m glad to see you wearing gloves. Too many Chinese riders I see don’t. Remember, while gloves can keep your hands clean and warm, that’s not their real purpose. Their purpose is to protect your hands when you fall onto the road. “Dress for the slide, not the ride” as we say 😊
I love you Yan! You are so talented and I have learned so much from you. Thank you for all of your hard work. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Teri in Saline, Michigan!
There's no wrong way to do it, Yan. Adventure bike, scooter, doesn't matter as long as you're going forward. You can start with a scooter, go to an adventure bike, and go back to a scooter.
Little Yan, my advice to you is to take it slowly. I noticed roads in China, some of them at least, being scooter and motorcycle friendly. Like separate lines and so. On a big road, heavy traffic, trucks and high speed, riding a motorcycle can be very challenging. Good idea to start on roads away from heavy traffic and trucks. From experience, I can tell you roads in AU are not motorcycle friendly. Always keep in mind 4 wheels are far more stable, and in a collision the person in the car would all the time get out unharmed, meanwhile your tiny collision bars won't do much. I recommended it before, eventually go for a car, these new EVs are very safe and easy to drive, and you'll never get wet or hot/cold. Keep safe.
I'm glad you wrote this, I'm equally as sure her Mom and Dad have mentioned this and much much more. Her friend Flo in Europe has probably sent her a dozen messages a day. We worry with reason. 从 m
Yan will eventually realise it from personal experience. Also riding solo is not recommended, for obvious reasons. Especially going off the beaten path. But it is very handy for short distances, especially in most cities and towns in China, where they have dedicated lines. EV scooters are everywhere.
I think she chose a motorcycle more because she wanted to go to some remote places that cars can't reach, and it's really troublesome for cars to park randomly, A motorcycle is much simpler, which makes it easier for her to shoot more videos. I agreed with the long trip and suggested she transport the motorcycle by car.
@@eugenpreda-yz5flNot to worry. China is not a Western country. It is ultra safe. Actually there are quite a lot of individual touring on motorbikes and even bicycles in China. Not many upload to TH-cam but you find loads of them on China's social media.

Thank you so much for sharing your videos with the whole world! By watching them, I am visiting authentic China in my armchair. What a beautiful country, how welcoming the inhabitants, and what a terrific guide! 👋👍👏🙏
I live in an area like yours, in Guilin, I have my electrical scooter, I got my Chinese driving licence and my dream is that all war shall end, so I can go by scooter all the way back to Sweden. While waiting I follow your excellent way to show the China that interests me.
You had a tricycle license not long ago, having two motor bikes one tricycle, how about a car for camping staying overnight thereby saving hotel cost. God bless you.
What a lovely new adventure! Please let me say how much I enjoyed your vlogs of your trip home through my hometown in SE Asia. Very low keyed and informative. All the best!
I was going to ask you what advise did Flo give on the choice of motorbike as he knows you better than anyone, but I’m glad you went with the scooter. Just my opinion, but those ‘crash bars’ are just to minimize damage to the scooter if you should have a small fall. .. they add weight to the scooter and wont protect you at all. Enjoy your new adventure. I will look forward to your coming episodes👍🏼🙂🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi Yan. Keep practicing with the bigger bike, you will get used to it. It's built for long distances The scooter is really only good for around town. Learn how to look after them, then they won't let you down. Be safe.
A scooter has empty space between your legs. Much easier to get on and off. Motorcycles have a frame between your legs. Make sure you wear the best helmet and protective garments.Be aware of everything around you. Bad drivers will not see you.
I like how everyone is referred to by their job, I’m reminded of that movie Half Baked when Dave’s character responds to being called janitor by answering back “hello scientist”.
At 09:17, I couldn't help but find it adorable when you asked the driver to wait until you found someone to help. You're sweet and funny - like the CEO of cute problem-solving! 😂
As a long distance motorcycle rider in the USA, I’m proud of you. Although travel on two wheels can be challenging at times in bad weather etc the good times make the adventure worth it. Eventually, I can see you riding around the world 🌍. ❤ 👊🏽
Comfortable is a good gauge for the choice of bike and speed is not everything. i think you make the correct choice . So exciting to see your bike tour .
A scooter will do just fine, especially in China with so many other scooter users, the infrastructure allows it. Go at your own pace and enjoy the trip!

Great advice, Glen. Wonder why she didn't opt for a 4WD vehicle? It's safer, drier, and probably more reliable. Just saying.

Amazing when you have a monoculture that respects the social contract.
Westerners who can still remember 30 years ago it was the same.
I was thinking the same thing. It's charming!
Here in the UK, many would also help. It's more down to how you ask, and, being polite and friendly will get you to where you want to be!! 🙂
