When i was 12y ( around 36y ago ) our handmade crafts teacher at school told us how to can build a tiny dril using a Peach seed;) when i come home , for more than 2 hours i was busy with drilling a wood board using that seed ( make a hole at seed, inserting a nail than wrapping the cord around the nail to can rotating it fast ) than suddenly the drilling points begins smoking, than it catch the fire :) this one the only time in my life how I successfully made a fire by drilling.. all other tries was a failure..
The hardest part about bamboo fire saw for me is, getting my hands on some bamboo.. tried it a few times and it worked good, so I can agree that it is not that hard, especially if you can practice a lot more. Great demonstration and some nice tips.
I learned a very similar method with bamboo in Jungle Environment Survival School. That is when I learned about the 1001 uses for bamboo. Great videos!
I saw a video of someone in Ohio growing it. Cold hardy versions are available unless you're way up North. Growing bamboo is a good business to get into if you live in areas where not many people are growing it.

Fascinating. I didn’t know you could drill with a Peach pit.
Good to see punk.
You mentioned a fire thong at some point so I looked it up and watched it, then this one popped up. 👍🏼
My videos are finally being recommended by the algorithm after 12 years

Thanks BSS... Bamboo is plentiful around here, Upstate South Carolina.
I have read about fire saws, but I have never seen it in practice. I am going to have to find some bamboo somewhere to give it a go.
You'll like it.
You rubbed around a minute to get the fire. It is fast enough. Thank you for sharing.
LOL! It's easier than I make it look.
I'm gonna say.....South Carolina? And watching you take your wrath out on that pine was amusing.
Wow I've never seen that before you never cease to amaze me!You obviously must be a descendant of Prometheus the greek god of fire.
Almost... I am a descendant of Baklava the Greek god of "phyllo pastry filled with chopped nuts and soaked in honey."
Muy bueno desde Argentina lo veo
Nice technique, thanks for showing us.
The fire master!

nice job, it's an easy way to make fire ,thanks Mr west
I have tried it with wood. I got lots of smoke, but no ember. Have you tried it with wood with any success?
No, but it does work.
Hey David after watching one of your videos on the bamboo fire saw I was able to catch a ember the first time thanks for all you do.
Thanks Tod!
i have found out if you use a backing board ( 2" x 6" piece of bamboo , radius to radius (X( ,, it retains the heat to light the tinder bundle faster
I've pretty much got most fire starting methods down but not having bamboo available locally this is one i haven't mastered
A Resource hard to find in Colorado Thank You
Thank-you!!!
that looked like a lot of work!
Lot of work for you... a lot of fun for me.
Great job!!!!
Show essa técnica💥👏👏
Can you demo the fire plow?
No, too difficult without the right materials found out West.
@@DavidWestBgood2ppl what materials would you require David?
David, so far I couldn’t get my hands on a big enough diameter... in your opinion, what’s the minimum diameter the bamboo should have?
1 1/2" is as small as you should go and it's still going to be harder than the 3 and 4"... for me anyways.
David West
Thank you so much for your reply David, appreciate it!
Would river cane work to do this
idk
Great question
The smaller the diameter the harder it is.
The smaller the diameter the harder it is.
@@survivortechharold6575 smaller diameter bottom board will just flex unless you nail it down, just nope
That technic originate from Aetas a native tribe from the Philippines is it right Dave?
IDK... Lots of Polynesians and peoples from the tropics BFS.
No bamboo grows here that I know of.
