If you had opted for tv jones thunderblades, string spacing wouldn't have been an issue... though putting 2 $150 pickups in a $299 bass is honestly not a wise financial move...I went through 3 junior jets to find one that was truely worthy of upgrades and it turned out to be the earlier single pickup g2202 model, so I guess I got off cheap, or at least cheaper
Thanks for being here and contributing! The financials were definitely a consideration. I love the way the bass plays but, the music I perform with it screams (pun intended) for humbuckers. I’ll most likely keep tinkering with it until I get it where I want it. I’m curious to what the 2202 cost you in total and if it plays similarly to the other jets.
@@cheapguitarchannel518 My first was a g2022 2 pickup model like yours, I pumped money into it but just couldn't warm up to it...2nd one was an early korean-made g2202 single pickup, that one had a nice sound but the neck was bowed and the truss rod nut was damaged...the keeper I have now is a 2010 chinese-made g2202, paid $250 for it with a hipshot kickass bridge and gotoh tuners already on it, I put in a tv jones thunderblade with a push/pull volume pot for series/parallel switching, a graphite nut, proper gretsch arrowhead knobs and a metal input jack plate...of the 3, it's the heaviest by far, gotta be right around 10 pounds, but it has the feel of a solid professional instrument
