I like the rossi over Henry because of its style. Very western. It ejects the cartridge over the top instead of the side. Even the old pump actions and the clones out there look better when they eject over the top instead of the side. The pumps also have a hammer which to me is a plus. But that's just me. Everyone has their own opinion.

Top ejection is cool for a rifle like this.

Brad is a punk. 16 inch 44 mag, 8 rounds, reliable, accurate, stainless steel. Use it for hunting, self defense. Who could ask for anything more? Get over the safety, just don't use it.

I have the Marlin 1894/336 44 Magnum, Henry Big Boy 44Mag and the Rossi 1892 44 magnum carbine. The Rossi is my favorite to shoot. Smoothest action of the 3.

@@tacNtrack I just pulled the Big Boy out of the safe, it is as smooth as the Rossi. I do like the tube feed on my Henry lever guns. I better take the Rossi and Henry out this week and do a comparison. What surprised me with the Rossi was how smooth it is with those two locking lugs compared to my 1886 from Chiappa. I would love to find a Winchester 1892 in 44 magnum for comparison.

Plot twist: Rossi made that safety as a bare minimum standard to put their middle finger up to import laws. So it's technically a safety. Just not a good one. Fair enough. They did the bare minimum on that.

You have failed to mention that it has a quarter cocked hammer safety like the Henry. I remove the switch safety and plugged the hole with a stainless steel plug available on eBay or Steves Gunz in Lampasas, TX. Brownell has a spring kit with a reduced power hammer spring, trigger spring, ejector spring and lever locking spring for less than $50 that really smoothes up the action. I've got the R92 in .357 and .44 Mag. Fun guns to shoot.

I'm going to give you an honest assessment between the Henry and Rossi, I have both of them.
First up, the Henry Big Boy.
Mine is the all brass classic with a 20 inch octagonal barrel.
The Fit and Finish on the Henry is second to none, it is absolutely gorgeous.
It's American made and comes with a life time warranty and that warranty is for the life of the rifle, not who purchased it, so giving it to you son or daughter will continue the warranty.
    Customer service is top notch.
The action is about the smoothies of any gun I ever had.
Because of the heavy barrel and the hardened brass, it is also a heavy gun, great for helping absorbing +P ammo, but is a heavy gun at 8.5 lbs.
Safety, 3 things are required to fire the gun, a round in the chamber, the hammer cocked and the trigger pulled, miss any one of them, the gun is safe, no such thing as accidentally firing this gun.
I paid almost $900 for it.
    Rossi.
Fit and finish is not as good as the Henry, but not bad, don't get me wrong, the Rossi still looks great.
Action is fairly smooth, but no Henry smooth, with time it will get smoother.
Unlike the Henry, it is made in Brazil and comes with only a one year warranty and customer service is not good at all.
It is a much lighter gun, about 6 lbs and is easier to carry around for hunting.
Unlike my Henry, this comes with a side loading gate, easier to top off, my Henry is tube loading only, not a big deal for me.
Emptying the Henry in case of a jam is simple, not so for the Rossi, with the Rossi, you have to cycle every round to clear the magazine.
The Rossi is simple and easy to care for, the Henry requires quite a bit more care because that brass finish shows every bit of dirt.
The brass on the Henry is hardened, it can handle what ever pressure rounds you want to fire.
The safety on the Rossi is easy to take care of, they actually make a button to replace the stupid switch so that it functions like the Henry.
The price on the Rossi on average is $750.
One more major point of difference is empty cartridge ejection, Henry is side ejection, Rossi is top ejection, so mounting optics on the Henry is simple, not so for the Rossi.
I don't care for buck horn sights, I use reflex red dots, this was easier and cleaner on the Henry.
Bottom line is, they are both great rifles, you get what you pay for.

Hey guys, you missed the point of the additional safety feature - one of the downsides of a traditional lever gun is that you have to jack each round out of the magazine to empty it, a potentially dangerous activity. With these new Rossi lever guns you can make it safe and jack 'em all out without the risk of an accidental discharge. So maybe ease-of-use might be 5 not 4 :-)

I own two Rossi's 16" 44mag and a 20" 357mag with the octagon barrel. I love walking in the woods with the 44mag. It's balanced very nicely, and you don't feel like you're lugging around a heavy rifle. The sights though.. the 44mag has Buckhorn sights that are so wide, I find it challenging to make decent groups at 50 yrds. The 357 on the other hand is not balanced well because of its heavy barrel but the sights are very good, small, but if you line it up you'll hit your target, no problem

The safety can be replaced by a plug. Unfortunately, US firearm import laws require manual safeties for any firearm manufactured outside of the country. Safeties are unfortunately a factor when people sell firearms in the U.S. due to our litigious legal system. If you don’t like it, don’t use it; I believe this rifle does have a very effective “half-cock” safe position. The safety position is similar to the location on my ancient Swedish Mauser. Lever guns are no harder to use than any other type of long gun, the side gate loading is no more difficult than loading a magazine on bolt-action or semi-auto rifles. My Rossi has a 24 inch octagon barrel which greatly elevates the fun factor. Is the Rossi the same quality as the Henry? Absolutely not! But, the cost of my Rossi was considerably less. Just FYI, I have fired both the Henry small calibers and their.45-70, the smoothness of their action is still the best of any lever gun. Basically, I found your criticisms of this Rossi insignificant when compared to the pluses of this firearm.

I had the 357 version. It was okay, but honestly too many sharp edges. The loading gate was a thumb grater, the hammer had sharp edges, and to be honest, the Henry Golden Boy is so much nicer (but a little pricier) and the Winchester '92 is flawless (but again, pricier). You have to realize though that a lever gun is not a bolt action nor a semi-auto and is generally not built for range, and are in general, not going to be the most accurate. As to the optics, you can put a skinner peep sight, or you can put a pic rail on the barrel and put a scout scope on it.

Just remove the safety and put a plug in there. I realize you can't recommend that but really, there is no need for the add-on safety when the design has the half cock safety already present. Online Outpost has the buttons and other stuff like replacement magazine followers. I love my Rossi R92 45 Colt blued 20" - and the Henry is ... fine but for some reason, other than their .22 levergun, I just don't like their guns... The Rossi is very close to an original 92 - with some minor differences and the quality of the new ones is superb. I actually just ordered a blued .357 Mag Rossi rifle. So that's my vote.

Over all nice weapon period, no it's not a Henry it's a Rossi and there should be some differences,,150$ extra gets you more,, on the old Henry 150$ less gets you a Rossi 💪

Buy a Henry used for the price of the Rossi and you still have a lifetime more warranty and a gun to be proud of; instead of feeling like a hobo. Not to insult the hobos out there.

    I have many lever guns
3 Model 94s various ages - 3030, 357, 44 Mag - Safe queens and the worst accuracy of all.
    3 Marlins - 3030, 357, 44 mag - They just are so cool!
1 Mossberg 464 - 2021 edition (important for quality) 3030 - by far the most accurate of them all. (Yup) Not even close. Action is the worst. It's a 94 copy is why that is.
    3 Rossi Stainless R92s - 357, 44 Mag, ---- 454 Casull - What a gun!
The Rossi's are by far the most smoothest actions. They fit like a glove, They are accurate as hell out of the box. And are by far (imho) the most beautiful. Jeez they look great.
I hunt with my Mossberg - cause it was cheap, stupid accurate, and I can beat the crap out of it as I Stalk with no regrets.

The Rossi guns are very accurate out of the box, I was surprised! Exceeds expectations in many ways!

You can’t throw practical parameters into fun factor. That’s blasphemy. Also, .44 mag, as well as .357 mag, are completely different beasts out of a rifle/carbine length barrel.

guys I've killed more deer with this gun than most people have with a 270 win it's a deer killer. you don't have to be 300 yards to kill a deer! Rossi I would pick it over a henny!

      @tacNtrack  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I allways find it funny when you see guys with these crazy high caliber deer rifles deer hunting and you look at there stands and there isn't more than 75 yards line of sight in any direction.

We both have different taste in small arms so we end up with guns we both like and some neither one of us like and some are one sided.

A $850 Rossi makes no sense in any situation. Certainly when for not a lot more you can get a quality firearm like a Henry new, or any number of used quality pieces for the same or.less and literally get twice the rifle in quality. Definitely a rifle to only pick up if you can get a good deal on it.
