I had a 41 which I got rid of... (Mind you I've had hundreds of great TTs and currently have about 12 and nothing much beats a TD124).. But still regret it. Great chassis. great bearing. Great motor. Just a rather lightweight, bell ringing platter was the weak link, but easy to upgrade - With the audiophiles greatest friend - Plasticine..
I always liked the looks of the mid 70s Pioneers and Marantz TT. They really look the part. I currently have a Sony PSX-55 which I like quite a bit. Not near as beautiful though.

I've yet to come across a TD 124. Would like to get my hands on one to see what all the fuss is about.

That PS-X55 is a solid turntable, but I agree. These are furniture-grade pieces.
PS. I picked the 41D off a skip! Perfect but arm was trashed, I fitted a 70s Audio Technica tonearm which suited it perfectly.
Interesting. I would like to see how the AT tonearm was fitted.
