  • This incredible farm house was built in the mid 1800s and originally had many acres of land. Unfortunately the house is now demolished for new housing developments, since the land was more valuable then the house it was torn down. I sadly couldn’t find much information beside that though. It was definitely a very cool place with lots of unique and strange things! Very glad to have been able to film it before it was gone. Filmed this a while back and since then everything is gone including the house. It’s a Sad but common occurrence nowadays.

      There are houses in Florida on or near the ocean to where the living quarters are on the top floor to enjoy the view. Same is true for houses built in a mountain area. It looks like the orginal owners did have a kitchen down stairs. The bedspread my mother had one like it back in the 60's. A beautiful place. Not alot of fluff just simplistic. Video was great.

    It seemd like someone recently lived on the top floor, because the furniture didn't have much dust on them. What a waste of a beautiful old house to make room for modern cookie cutter style housing. Thank for the great video. Be safe.

    So glad you were able to document this before it was gone. Beautiful old home... So sad that people don't see any need to preserve our past... absolutely amazing. I kept expecting someone to walk in on you. The bed is made and the box of tissues on the night stand.... I surely hope someone got the valuable stuff out of there before they demolished it.

    Hey Kappy...I stumbled onto your site a couple of weeks ago! I watch a few of your vids a day to get caught up to the present. I'm not one to comment...this may actually be my first. Instead of commenting on any one vid in particular, I decided to make a general comment. Your videography/ editing is GREAT: directed, steady, and focused so the viewer can envision and have time to ponder what you are actually seeing. Your commentary adds to what you FEEL/ EXPERIENCE, and therefore what we FEEL as if we were there (a fly on the wall-lol). I appreciate your respect for the properties, owners, and those - that were - that left their imprint in time, sadly forgotten many times by family or friends...thankfully not lost because of your documentation! Watching your vids reminds me of the adventures my cousin and I had when we were in our teens, back in the mid-1970's, exploring vacant farm homesteads in rural S. Illinois...not to vandalize/ destroy, but to have first hand experience of what would become lost history to modern development. When my travels bring me back to Maryland, I would love to do an explore with you!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Again! Peace, Best Wishes, and Be Safe, Gary

    Glad you’re capturing video of these houses before they disappeared for cookie cutter housing development. A lot of them were custom built, frozen in time, and remind us of how we “used” to live in simpler days. My earliest memories stretch back to the early 90s unfortunately but seeing some of these places gives perspective on times before then.

    What an absolutely positively incredible home 🏡! I was amazed at how tidy & organized it was for being abandoned 🤔 I have to wonder how long it was sitting empty ... the neatness throughout the rooms ( a long with the well keep older items ) had me thinking an older couple who took extreme pride & cherish every piece they owned ... what state was this in?
    You did an awesome job capturing so much in such little time 👍

    What a find! Too *much* stuff, but you're obviously right about it being the home of a musician or musicians. I thought so when I saw that stack of electronic gear, probably amplifiers, 'cuz there were more later, plus stacks of speakers. I'll add my hopes that someone hauled away the good stuff and donated and/or sold it. The upstairs was really nice a bright and light. Must've been comfy---and someone obviously built or repaired something, judging by the hundreds of parts drawers (reminds me of my own workshop). Good goin', Kappy!

  • @andrewbrendan1579
    @andrewbrendan1579 6 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Remarkable how little change had been made to the house. I wouldn't be surprised if the paint on the woodwork is the original pre-Civil War paint. If that house was here in the part of Indiana where I live, the historical preservation people would be making a big effort to save the house.---I saw "Julie is her name" and a glimpse of the photo on one of the album covers. That has to be the late Julie London famous for the song "Cry Me a River". Moments afterward I saw leaning against the wall what appeared to be a charcoal drawing of a man who reminded me of the author Truman Capote. I'm not into crafts but that was one impressive bedspread on the bed; a lot of work and artistry went into making what must be very valuable. As mentioned below, I sure hope someone removed things from the house. I noticed that big cabinet in the hallway and I'm sure it's a very valuable antique.

      I wonder if they did the same with it as they do where I live? They just dig a huge hole in the ground and push the house into it and cover it back up. It would have been a shame if they did and all of those things were lost.

    • @winnieskees9622
      @winnieskees9622 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @thinksoft9 - I just noticed that you posted your request 3 years ago, so I might as well not continue, because by now I imagine he has already read them all! I guess I’m way behind on his videos!
      But since Ive started, let me say that I think Kappy is one of the best American explorers ( there are 3 European groups that are truly awesome) however as good as Kappy is, I do truly agree, I’d like to know the dates and sometimes the brand names. I had to laugh as earlier today I was watching one and he says something about finding the date - there were a lot of papers laying strung all out on a shelf I guess, it was not a table. he must have been in a hurry that day because right in plane sight was like an old Examiner paper,the date was right in plain sight, now it was upside down, he didn’t notice it, I’m raising my voice saying “Kappy look it says , “ and he moved on saying well don’t see any date! Same thing with the brands of fridges etc. He is such a sweet guy and so respectful to the houses, I in no way want to complain but……

    I talked to somebody today who told me that when it's too hard to clear out a hoarder's house and to bulldoze it is too expensive, the house is often just torched, then whatever didn't burned is buried in a big hole. They said it is the most economical way to "get rid of" an old broken down house.
    This is "The Tale of Two Houses!" Downstairs is for storage while upstairs is where the person lived. This is so strange! The upstairs is so pristine that you'd almost expect the owner to return any minute. This person either played or just loved music, with all those records downstairs and I even saw a glockenspiel on a wall! Strange house indeed!
    Thanks for giving us a mystery to ponder, Kappy! Lots of cool things to see in this one!
    Now that's enough to give us all nightmares!

    at first I seen that handicap toilet I didn't know if it was a old man or woman but started thinking all them old electronics that is a guy's thing. That second kitchen upstairs Kappy what I think is maybe it started off as a wet bar and when he got to old to get up and down the stairs he added a frig and turned it into a tiny kitchen. 1850 just think of how many may have grew older in the house and died sense then. Thank you for the video Kappy it was a interesting house.

    So sad ! that they had to torn down this house . Yet, there wasn’t anything wrong with it at all. At least, to my knowledge. Lol! How could they have left all of those beautiful furnitures, pianos and organs behind? Among all of my recollection and throughout all of the chain explorers that i’ve known, on the TH-cam channel, this is the cleanest and the most tidy abandoned house, i’ve seen so far. Almost a time capsule, despite the fact that it was abandoned quite recently. Thank you for this lovely video masterpiece. Have yourself a great summer 2020, Mister Kappy. Stay safe! OMG!! This house and it's contents are so very awesome and old!! I just love that you got footage of the place, and I hate that they tore this down for new developements!!! Still just can't believe the antiques and stuff in there. Wow, vintage records of Scott Joplin music! I bet those are worth something now a days!! It looks to me like maybe who ever was living there was trying to restore some, or a elderly person went into a nursing home and the relatives were trying to save the house and just gave up on it, such a shame! That could have been just as awesome of a house as the day it was built, had somebody taken the time and money to do that! Once again, thanks for sharing!!

    That house is gone??? I'd have taken it in a heartbeat. I'd sleep in that bedroom on the top floor. What an awesome house. I hope at least that the contents were sold before it was taken down. Those wood stoves were beautiful, and everything was in such good condition. It looked like a beautiful area too.

    Not being a musician whatsoever, putting that aside. This one actually got to me and tugged on my emotions because I can so identify with the life this guy led otherwise. He had his stuff and likes, he wasn't a hoarder and it all had purpose. So familiar and so comfortable to me. RIP familiar stranger.

    My favorite one by far. Love the furnishings, and that shade of blue and green paint on the mantle, doors, and woodwork. I love it. ‘Look at the stairs,there’s gotta be another way’ lol Thank you Kappy

    Much of that house appears it could still be lived in. The bathroom is immaculate from all the other houses we have seen. Those huge rustic period fireplaces and that one stove is wonderful to look at. I really like this house. I think a female musician lived there. I was wondering where the kitchen would be.
