Dude... I love this format!! A mix of photos so that I can pause the video and it's a clear image and the action video for getting into spaces is PERFECT! Too many times, I've had to pause other instructional videos and look at a fuzzy still image due to motion blur or it maybe just my old eyes. Great video, to the point and concise.
I found that removing the bottom bolt first from under the car worked better for myself. Removed the two fluid lines and bottom bolt. Then as soon as you crack the top bolt, you can swing the pump towards the back of the engine and get full access to the top bolt
Great video... FYI.... May also want to check the reservoir to pump hose, too. Even if the O rings are changed. If hose is hard it can start to leak around the hose clamp at the black connector.. Hose should be spongey like a radiator hose. Heat can cause hose to hardened and become brittle. 2nd..Unless you have to return old pump for a core charge... Go to NAPA or ADVANCE and get a full pump re-seal kit and rebuild the old pump yourself. Have as a backup. Only reason not to rebuild if pump fanes inside are worn and loose from running w no or very low fluid.
This video is amazing, my son's power steering fluid is depleting it's going in the shop next week but wanted to see complexity if indeed it is the p/s pump. Praying it's a hose or something easy but nothing is easy for me in 2022. :-)
Super helpful, wish you had more video but I understand you were in the middle of the job so no need to really go back and re-do it all lol still, very informative and helpful. 👍
you probably dont care but if you're stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all the new series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my gf for the last couple of days =)
well done. I was just under my car, which has a massive leak. looks like it is the pressure line, so i probably wont need to replace the pump after all. Although, I'm guessing the pump may be easier. 🤣
Thanks for the video! My civic has 130k miles and power steering pump is covered in engine oil. Can it be leaking oil there and will replacing the pump fix the issue? Thanks 😊
I think my pump is ceasing up and my serpentine belt came off while driving. should the pulley spin freely or should it have resistance when i spin it by hand??
Hope you’re gonna answer because I’m in the middle of the job XD. how do you take out the pump of the engine bay once it’s unmounted ? You don’t cover that part in your tutorial. Seems like there’s is not enough place to wiggle it through the opening I have.
Guillaume Caron I stated in the video, once everything is disconnected, wiggle the pump out through the wheel well, there should be enough room that way.
Sit n Clutch sorry I miss that part, had to remove the pulley before, after that I had enough space to take it out by the wheel well. Thanks a lot for that tutorial. Helped me a lot. Tomorrow I change my steering rack. Anything advice as to what to do after all of this, like refill with oil, but do I need to purge the system ? What do I need to do ? Don’t want to mess up my newly parts
Quality will vary since it is aftermarket. The one used here is an A1 Cardone (more info in the description), it is a bit louder than OEM but nothing extreme. Multiple factors may play out as to why certain ones are louder than others, including air trapped in the system.
Make sure your socket has a firm grip on the bolt before you begin to loosen. If you need more room to gain access you will most likely need to look into removing the side motor mount.
Sit n Clutch thanks for the fast reply. I notice you used the 3/8 long flex heat ratchet and 17mm x 19 mm long box wrench at the same time. Do i need the buy both or just one in removing the belt tensioner?
Folgoso Aso as long as you have something long for leverage to relieve the tension on the serpentine belt tensioner you will be ok. It could be a long ratchet, long wrench, or even serpentine belt tool. The 3/8 long flex head ratchet was used so I did not have to remove the side motor mount to gain access to the upper bolt on the p/s pump.
Sit n Clutch i bought the 19mm box wrench but it cannot unscrew the serpentine belt tensioner. How many pounds is the bolt tension? My box wrench is short.
I know my gf’s car is leaking fluid. There’s oil all over the back side of the engine. It seems to be too clean, to be her motor oil. I keep having to add oil. Do these pumps usually leak this bad, when they start going out? Or do I just maybe have a bad o ring? I just finished fixing her AC, so don’t feel like tearing into another project 😂
REEF X mr you can clean it and run the car for a bit to try and find where the leak may be coming from. The O-Ring TSB may be a probable cause. If it is motor oil and you can trace it near the top part of the valve cover around the VTEC solenoid, it may be the solenoid gasket that needs to be replaced.
@@SitnClutch I was about to start replacing my power steering pump before I read your reply. Now I'm 95% sure its the solenoid gasket that needs to be replaced. Thanks so much! you saved me lots of time and headache
Nvm the repair manual says: 5. Fill the reservoir to the upper level line (C). 6. Start the engine and run it at fast idle, then turn the steering from lock-to-lock several times to bleed air from the system.
I already put 3 o rings and still has a leak I don’t know if I’m missing something while installing it 😫 just the o ring and a tightening Still can see where it leaks! It’s the Orange O ring Any tips? TÍA
When replacing the o-ring make sure, if you haven't already done so, that both surfaces are clean. When putting the new o-ring be sure to put oil on it so it won't tear when you install it. Failure to do so can result in a torn o-ring which will leak. When you install it be sure the two surfaces are flat on each other and connected before tightening it.
Sit n Clutch thanks for the response. Dealership wants to charger me $900 for the power steering pump replacement. I am planning to do it myself instead.

Are all aftermarket power steering pumps equal in quality? I’ve read reviews of some being noisy. I do not want noise. What brand would you recommend?

Will this fit an 07 Honda Civic coupe? 1.8L? I’m looking to buy this ASAP
Pump should fit, they're both 1.8.
Good video
I want to know what size is the over ring for the this honda
Pardon, what do you mean by over ring?
Thanks for the video, very informative.
Question: Has the pump continue to work without issues to date ? Thanks in advance !!
So far it’s been working well!
@@SitnClutch thanks sir
Did you replace the pump due to component failure or because there was a leak in the pump by the high and low pressure lines?
There was a general leak. Prior to replacing the pump I had done the TSB pertaining to the seal on the hose, but it did not resolve the issue.
2:52 .... my long ratchet 😂😂😂
Probably a good idea to flush the lines too.
How did u get at that top bolt so easy? My ratchet just slides on the pulley every time I try to loosen 😐
