(No spoilers😊) Zoro’s demon-aura Asura attack is one of my favorite things to discuss about in one piece. I remember when this fight was first animated back in 2008 and everybody was shocked. If you’ve noticed, Oda has made quite a few Buddhist references in OP, even early on in the series. One of them is demon aura 9-swordstyle Asura. Asura is known as the demi-god in the Buddhism and Buddhist cosmology points out that there’s 6 realms of rebirth one of them being the Demi-god realm Asura (3rd realm). It’s realm is notable for the anger and sometimes supernatural powers, and if you notice, a lot of Zoro’s attacks are named after Buddhist and demon references: - Santoryuu Ogi ichidai sanzen daisen sekai “3 swordstyle secret technique 3000 worlds” (in Buddhism there are 3000 realms in a single moment of life) also the technique he used i the fight vs Mihawk - 36, 72, 108 pound hō or pound phoenix (where pound is a Buddhist term that means “worldly desires with evil thoughts) - Enmbima yonezu oni giri (“charm demon sleepless night”) - Oni giri (“ogre/demon cutter”) in this case it can also be a pun for food lol These are all the attacks Zoro used so far (ep 300) that have Buddhist/demon references in it. And last but not least one of the most interesting things Zoro said early on is that he never prayed to God🤨 (Skypiea). Anyways, i could talk about Zoro and Oda’s Buddhist/demon references he implanted into his character all day. It’s so interesting

when oda kill a character, he will make sure it will impact on the storyline...otherwise, the character surely has some useful plot in later episode. oda has been careful about this too.
Hell yeah, Asura. 🙂 BTW, something interesting to note is that around the time this arc was running in the manga, a character popularity poll had Kaku ranked in the top ten (I forgot his exact rank, though). But yeah, he was the most popular villain among Japanese fans at the time, far above Lucci, even (who as I recall didn't even make it to the top 20, lol). I think Oda included that little post-match moment between him and Zoro as a response to that poll, personally....
I mean, it's not just Pell though. Starting from Syrup village- Merry (Kaya's assistant, the sheephead that got slashed by Kuro but survived), the ma-ma-ma guy getting blown up in the ship but then alive, the giant in little garden, Frigging Pell in Alabasta, the entire fighters of skypiea (I mean, Enel going around ending people but no one died?), Laki and Kamakiri in skypiea (direct lighting hit of higher volt, but survived), the dad of the angel girl in skypiea (how?), frigging Wyper (after using reject dial around 4 times and getting electrocuted). The list goes on an on. But I'll stop here since I don't want to spoil anything. So yeah, one piece doesn't really kill characters.
Bell-mère, Olvia and all people of Ohara, Dr Hiriluk, Tom, and other people I don’t remember the name (if they had one). One Piece has already showed deaths.
@@youtpfpm6097 all of those characters are in flashbacks. I think most people who make the comment of OP not killing off characters are referring to deaths of characters in the current timeline.
@@JTNWinslow A flashback takes place before in the timeline of the world of One Piece. But it happens in our present when we watch anime and the deaths that occur there have as much impact as if they happened in the present. They are causes and motors of the plot. So a death in a flashback is a death in One Piece. But you and others may feel differently, of course.🙂

Man all the straw hats got powered up this arc. It's so hype.
One of my favorite things about this arc is that all Straw Hat used new powers to defeat Cp9, when they said bad things about Robin.
