When I first watched this episode and haki wasn't a thing, it was instead translated as "willpower".
Nah in Japanese haki is the word for willpower so it’s just a matter of translation
And Blackbeard is the first mention haki back in Jaya
@@topramen5344 It was probably translated as willpower back then, too, when I saw it (don't remember). I don't think translators started using haki as a standalone term (in my memory, watching fansubs) until the Kuja arc...
I definitely remember though, that in this scene, they said haki but had a footnote that haki=willpower. Similar to how, before one of the Arlong arc episodes, the fansubber added a big long pre-episode paragraph about why he'd no longer translate nakama, and a better explanation of its meaning beyond just "friends."

In english haki is officialy translated as willpower I think. Here in italy it's translated as ambition, which should be closer to the original japanese meaning. But it' something like that anyway

the world govt is afraid of what might come after Shanks and Whitebeard met..either they team-up or one loses and tilt the balance of the 3 world powers (WG, Emperors and Warlords)..either way may bring trouble for the govt..
about the Warlords, the warlords are hired by the Govt to protect the World Govt if needed..and as a return, the lands owned by the Warlords and their crew are free from the govts oversight..but if someone challenges the Warlords, the govt doesnt have any responsibility to protect or fight for them..so even if Whitebeard attack BB when he become Warlord, it doesnt mean he is also attacking the WG..you'll see the benefits of being Warlords throughout the next arcs..
the warning of Shanks about ace and BB will bring big complications in the future arcs..

There are three ”super powers” in the world of One Piece: Marines, the Seven Warlords and the Four Emperors. Marines have allied with the Warlords to keep the Emperors in check. But, like the Warlords, the Emperors are constantly fighting each other for power, territory, recourses etc.

Nice analysis about dragon. But now here is the question to you both: if all crew were present, why didn't they even tried to save their captain??? Shouldn't it be logical? Like how Zoro and sanji tried to save Luffy in loguetown?

The Warlord position is like signing a nonagression treaty with mutual benefits. The more powerful the warlord, the more the govt. needs to treat them with caution so giving them free passes to do their pirate work while having them comply with govt. regulation gives one less powerful person to contend with. As a person of that caliber, it would be better if they can work together. Legal piracy so to speak, govt. turns a blind eye if their crimes are on a smaller scale like taking over a town as long as their pay tribute.
Emperors are completely different. Just as the name implies, they rule their respective regions as the undisputed lord/dictator so they do not cooperate with the govt. They rule without regulations. Hence their empires are a threat to the govt. as well as the warlords. Emperors can act however they please, even aggressively take over their lands.😂
The govt. fear could stem from alliances as you said, and collateral damages. If you think about them more akin to Mafia, the citizens are just innocent people be swept around in the emperors unofficial power. Govt. fears any of these outcomes will reduce their power and rule over the citizens at the "legitimate" govt in power.
Simply put they are too strong for the navy to fight without serious serious resources. Just like zoro and sanji are close to luffys power, Roger's crew was close to his power
I think I can explain the warlord and government dynamic without spoilers.
A warlord is allowed to loot and plunder as they please on the condition that they follow government orders when requested. The people chosen to be warlords are interesting in that, yes theyre super strong, but having each warlord's specific influence under government control is way more beneficial.
In a way, the government benefits because they suppress pirates with wide influence and power, and the warlords benefit because they don't have to be on the run.

war lords don't help WG by catching pirates, they just help WG when they are summoned and ask for their men power for battle and stuff. basically war lords bounty is frozen and aren't chased by WG and in return they help WG by help them in in wars. WG don't lend them marines when they fight other pirates because its war lords and other pirates personal fight.
