      Wow you were quick off the mark ! Yes it was all jolly good fun apart from having to clean all the mud off the car and me when I got in ! Thanks for your feedback :-)

    Another great video Pete and that saves at 1:53 and 4:12 were better than any I've seen on Monster Jam. I also really liked the wheelie across the screen with the setting sun in the background. Great stuff!

      Hey thanks Rob. It is a nice feature of the GF-01 that you can usually get it back the right way up by spinning the wheels back and forth. The ESC I'm using lets you go from reverse to forwards with no delay. It is harder to do with this shell because it is pretty heavy compared to the Lexan ones. Cheers for your feedback :-)

    Somehow I missed this! Gonna ring that bell. Good run, Pete! Congrats with your new channel name. Enjoyed watching just as much as that horse! You must spend a lot of time drying and cleaning your Tamiyas :-)

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mikael. Yeah I have changed the channel name so that it's more obvious what it's all about. I'm not sure if the horse was that impressed actually, it walked off soon after :-) Tell you what the Wild Willy is a good kit to get if you want something with a body shell that's a bit more of a challenge. There are loads of bits to paint. Took me ages to do. Cleaning wise the cars just get a shower from the hose in the garden when they get home and then an overnight stay in the garage to dry off. They might even get a bit of WD40 on the rusty bits if they're lucky ! Thanks for watching mate :-)

      Pete Wylie RC Videos Well maybe it was just checking out if it was something interesting and when it concluded it was a middle aged guy with his toy car it lost interest ;-) Yeah hosing them down is good. But can’t seem to get them dry fast enough so some screw heads and axles always end up with some rust. Not too happy with that so I only keep a few selected cars waterproof. Would love a Wild Willy some day. Took me forever to make my Monster Beetle body so it will probably take me forever x 2 to do a WW. My first RC was a Taiyo Auto Wheelie Challenger back in the days (a mini WW). So it will be a nostalgic moment to build my own real WW one day :-)

      Yeah he was rather unimpressed with my Willy :-) You could do what I did which was to get a GF-01 chassis car or truck and then convert it to a Wild Willy at a later date. It's more expensive but you do end up with a 4WD one and 2 bodies :-)

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pete Wylie RC Videos Ahh Yeah now I remember our talk about Willies last year :-) Think I’m gonna go with the 2WD, since my first little Willy had 2WD. Actually it was a RWD skid steer. So you could run it in a wheelie position and still steer it. Great piece of toy.

    HaHa Pete - I think you just about got away with your Willy bashing in the woods - I didn't see anyone catching you in mid-bash! Loving the video mate, you put a lot of fun into it - as RCing should be! Great on-board shots too - I feel sorry for your little GoPro though - it sure is a hero :-)

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha ha, yes it was just one of the horses that saw me bashing away at 1:56 ! The onboard shots are at the golf course and I was really just testing it out but the little bracket broke during a jump so I decided to just use the footage I had even though it's quite obviously a different location the the main video. I had wanted to get some onboard shots at the New Forest on a nicer day but never got round to mending the mount. Could do with a smaller lighter camera to put on the cars as the GoPro is a bit chunky and heavy but like you say it can take a beating. Thanks for your feedback mate :-)

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just clocked the horse by clicking your time-stamp :-) I must admit I didn't notice the different locations of the on-board footage - all seems to flow nicely as it's all in a green location! I just got a GoPro for Xmas and can't wait to give it a proper test - but weather to crappy at the moment!
      BTW I left a comment as a reply to yours on my Thunder Dragon vid about your channel name - I only mention it here 'cause you always reply - I didn't get a notification about this new vid of yours either - very strange!

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's cool that you got a GoPro. Which one is it ? The quality of the footage is really good and you can take it at a high frame rate so you can do smooth slomos. Mine is a 3+ Silver and it can do 1080p at 60fps or 720p at 120fps. Be nice to get a newer one with better spec but they aren't cheap as you know. The main disadvantage is that it's quite a wide angle lens which is good when the cars are close but not so good when you are trying to use it like a camcorder. There are different settings for the view but it's nothing like having a zoom lens. Will keep an eye out for your new videos using it. I didn't see that comment from you before but looking at the notifications it is there so will head over and reply. Might have come in with a load of others and got lost ? Oh I did have one for you at the pub last night and far too many for myself :-)

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the drink Pete! Yeah my GoPro is the Hereo5 Black - looking at the specs it should be really good but only played with it inside to get used to the settings so far - there are lots of them when you start digging down - even manual settings for ISO, white balance, shutter speeds etc so I've got a lot to learn. Will just use it on auto at first I think! Even has voice control that seems to work really well and you can pair it with a phone and set it up and control it from there - I'm looking forward to some much sharper videos and smooth slo-mo as you mentioned. Alfie's really keen to get to grips with it - he's a much better cameraman than me so watch this space! Many thanks for the info mate :-)

    Very great video, thank you very much! I plan to do the same conversion and would like to know before you whether the body with the original body brackets fits on the GF-01 chassis!?! Do you have to make changes to the chassis, body or brackets so that everything fits?
    Have a look at my channel if you are interested in RC car videos. Thank you!

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. If you have a Wild Willy 2 body and body posts then that is a direct fit into the GF-01. If you want to have the side bars then you need to make alterations to the bars and the chassis. If you have an original Wild Willy body from the 80's then you need to make extra holes for the body posts. Good luck 😁

    Very cool video! I’ve done the same thing with a Wild Willy body and a GF01 chassis. Did you do anything special with the differentials? I noticed when the car was in the mud all the wheels were still spinning. They acted like they had locked differentials. I’ve been wanting to find a way to quasi lock the diffs for better distribution of torque to all the wheels.

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks for your positive feedback. I can't remember what I did on the diffs with this as it was originally built a while ago. One thing I have found that makes diffs a bit more sticky is Tamiya AW grease. If you put a load of that in the diff then it still works as a diff but you still get some power to the wheel on the ground if the other is in the air. As I remember I got it from eBay from Japan although they do include it in some kits. Hope this helps 😀

    Hi Pete
    I've come across your videos, as a massive Tamiya fan I think they're amazing! What batteries are you running and how do you water proof them?

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Many thanks for your kind comments. I'm running 2S lipo batteries in all of my cars. They are mainly the Turnigy shorty packs as they will fit in older Tamiyas like the Sand Scorcher. Most of the cars are using brushless motors and ESC's which are waterproof already so I don't need to do anything else to them. To waterproof the receiver I generally put it inside a party balloon and seal it shut with a cable tie. On this car I did another method of waterproofing the receiver which is to coat the circuit board with epoxy glue. Bit more fiddly but works well. There are videos on TH-cam for that method. Thanks again for your feedback :-)

    • @MrVictorvolvo
      @MrVictorvolvo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pete Wylie RC Videos. Thanks Pete. How do you keep the lipo water tight (wrap it in a big balloon? 😁) I shared your videos to a group called iconicrc on Facebook. Loads of people into Tamiya on there...

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi again. No I don't do anything with the batteries. They seem to be just fine as they are. I suppose because they are low voltage. Thanks for sharing the video. I've watched a load of Iconic RC videos on here but haven't looked at the Facebook group. I will check it out :-)
