The qd midnight pumpkin was my first hobby grade RC so I’ve got a deep history with these. I’m looking forward to seeing the difference between the stock one and this one
Very interesting viewing Thad, great little project..... will enjoy following along with this. Although they were quite common back in the day, the QD monster trucks are now quite hard to find.... especially the trusty blackfoot. I would love Tamiya to start re releasing some of these awesome little models! I recently picked up an 86 Nikko turbo panther in view of restoring it,im not sure wether I want to leave it stock, or do similar by replacing it's electronics with modern gear. Looking forward to part 2 fella! 👍 👍 👍
My first RC was a Turbo Panther, and my first Tamiya was a Blackfoot. I’ve been searching for a QD Blackfoot to run alongside my pristine Turbo Panther! Love love love this project.
@@moobutt Ah the trusty little Turbo Panther! 👌 Fond memories from happy days gone by fella! Not started restoring mine yet, still trying to source an antenna for the remote..... they always seem to be missing! Good luck with your quest for the QD blackfoot man, they will make a great pair. 👍 👍 👍
Great to see you help another hobbyst get a RC up and running. My Porche 959 had it motherboard fried years ago. So lsst year I had to replace a the electronic (modern) . So as far as the servo i had to modify that as well. Great video Thad thanks for sharing. 💯💯💯💯👍
Cool resto project to take on Thad. That servo has got to be a lot smoother and quicker than the original. I’m sure this guy is going to be a happy dude when it’s finished!🤗
It’ll be a fun runable truck. And if he ever wants to go back to lipos he’s got that option as well. Can’t wait to see how this performs compared to the original
I threw all my RC stuff away 13 years ago when we cleaned out my dads house. I’ve slowly been accumulating some of those back but it’s not quite the same as having the original stuff. This guy’s had this one since it was new
I’m looking forward to the running portion comparing the stock one and this one. I did one before with my pumpkin vs my Blackfoot but that wasn’t fair because the pumpkin was on a 2s lipo
One of these days I’ll get to my qd Jeep Wrangler project.. when I first got back into these your video on your radio shack truck you cloned a qd pumpkin was one of the first I watched
I have been looking for one of these but they are getting harder and harder to find in decent shape for a reasonable price! It should be a fun one once it is all converted!
I’ve been on the hunt for the qd clod and the qd monster beetle but they want rediculous prices so they’ll probably never get added to the collection lol ..
Pull out the printed circuit board, replace the servo, HOBBYWING 1060, and a dumbo receiver. I’ve done my pumpkin, and 3 of the radio shack versions. Now I’m doing this one for our viewer. I’ve actually got another rare qd truck I’m gonna do for myself soon. It’s a easy conversion
Hello I have the regular ford Blackfoot that I saved all my birthday money back in the day. What would it cost to upgrade it? I can’t find the remote just the truck.
@@IowaBudgetRCBashers Do you have any links to the items? I would like to try to get it running again. Wife almost threw it out. Also what battery would you recommend.
The steering is very easy to convert to normal servo. It's interesting to see this done 🙂
They designed them right. Almost as if they thought 30 years into the future 😁
@@IowaBudgetRCBashers So True.
cool project brother...😎👍

Thanks Al. I love bringing old RC’s back to life again. It’s fun
Thad is the Conversion/restoration king!!!!😊 great job 👏
Maybe the qd conversion king lol

Thanks buddy. The only thing I’d do differently if it were mine I’d put a 380 sport tuned in it
Nice Thad this is going to be awesome

Awesome job Thad. Nice to see you wrenching away.
It feels good to be doing it too buddy 😁
Blackfoot is a classic!
Truly. And these 1/14 versions are rare as hen’s teeth
Awesome truck! Very cool, wish I would here kept some of the old stuff from back then!🤜🤛

@@IowaBudgetRCBashers wow! Yea to bad you don’t have those! Awesome he’s had that since new! It’s a cool build Brother!👍
Looking good. It is funny I seen them and first though was mini clods!
I’d still love to have the qd clod and the qd monster beetle but they want big bucks for em nowadays
Blackfoot looks tight!
Thanks buddy
Interesting conversion Thad, nice work!👍😊
Thanks buddy. It makes these trucks drivable again after the old circuit boards quit working. And it’s fun to do 😁
Can't wait for the finished product

Great build so far Thad. I'm curious about the comparison later
Thanks Dirk, as am I my friend. I think it’ll be fun to see if there’s any difference at all

Thanks buddy, you too
Very cool video 😎 got to love the old school stuff 💪🏼

You can buy a dumbo RC radio for about 35 bucks and a hobbywing 1060 electronic speed control for about 25 bucks. That’s the route I’d go
