    Stunning Austin, you've done a tremendous job on it with your usual attention to detail. You've captured this fictitious Welsh Narrow Gauge Railway perfectly.

      Thanks Bob, it's been fun to do and perhaps whetted the appetite for a bigger 009 model at some point

    Just stumbled across this video and watched it 5 times in a row! Wonderful modelling, and the sounds really add to the atmosphere. I think my next project might have to be in 009 . . .

      Thanks very much Joe, glad you enjoyed the video. 009 is certainly becoming very popular and there are quite a few new locos to come from the manufacturers

    What Radius points do you use and is the track Setrack or Flex please.

    • @acw71000
      @acw71000  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David, thanks for watching. It's Flexitrack and the points are 18'' radius, Peco SL- E495 and 496

    Austin, I really enjoy these charming visits to Pen Gwyn. As well as being a delightfully peaceful and relaxing video, this shows the enormous amount of work and attention to detail you have put into creating and developing your railway. At 06:30 is the reminder that we no longer see the front step being scrubbed... not around here anyway! Kind regards, Bob.

    • @acw71000
      @acw71000  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks Bob. As the railway is not based on any prototype it allows my imagination to run riot and hopefully create a spot that would be nice to visit! Soon as I saw the set of figures that included the lady scrubbing the steps I knew it would look right. Another viewer wondered what the relationship was between her and the window cleaner....I couldn't possibly comment.

    A very nice railway. It is amazing what you did with a piece of wood in your shed. The Bachmann Baldwins are great.

    • @acw71000
      @acw71000  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much. At school the woodwork teacher told me I'd make a very good butcher after I had made a right mess of a relatively simple project so many many years later I bear those words in mind when constructing the baseboards! The Baldwins are superb runners

    Question where did you got hold of the bug box coaches from

    • @acw71000
      @acw71000  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are just the standard unlettered four wheel coaches by Peco. I got them from Hattons but they should be available everywhere. The Ffestiniog bug boxes aren't available yet

  • @17leeward
    @17leeward 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm just starting my own 009 layout having got back into railway modelling after about 20 years. Can I ask what couplings and uncoupling method you use?

    • @acw71000
      @acw71000  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My situation was similar to yours as it had been nearly 30 years away from railway modelling! At the moment the couplings are all as supplied on the coaches etc. by Peco and I uncouple by hand when needed. I'd like to install magnetic couplings and have bought some Greenwich couplings but find them very fiddly. Possibly the Dapol N gauge ones may work quite well

    • @17leeward
      @17leeward 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Where do you get the background sounds from?

    • @acw71000

    Like in your last video of this you have done an amazing job Austin, the locomotive sounds make the layout stand out as does the Livestock sounds which I'm guessing you dubbed over?. I also think a Hattons Quarrymans coach (when available) would look nice on here. Regards James

    Really nice layout. I model in 009 too and it's more about atmosphere than any real place. One thing, paint those white rolling stock roofs matt black. They click off and it takes only a few minutes.

      @@acw71000 I really don't know why PECO don't do the roofs in a matt grey or black plastic. Those white roofs are awful.

    • @acw71000
      @acw71000  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I would like to change some of the scenic items slightly, I think some of the trees look a little too large. A run round loop at the station would have been nice but there's only so much you can fit in. At some point I'll probably build a 'mark 2 version'
