In this video I'm discussing my thoughts on what products are best for cleaning leather car seats. Some say all purpose cleaners but I discuss why I don't believe those are the safest or most effective cleaners for your cars interior. Instead I discuss my three favorite leather cleaners and why I choose them. Comment below with your thoughts or what leather cleaners you prefer!

Chelsea you did a fantastic job of sharing some great product recommendations for leather cleaning! I am super impressed with your presentation in this video! I have several APC cleaners and one in particular that Brian Spitler of "Apex Detail" recommended that is very gentle on all interior surfaces (plastic, leather, vinyl and cloth covered seats) is the CarPro Multi-X! It is specifically designed to be used on car interiors as well as the exterior but when diluted properly it is very gentle on the cheap plastics, cloth seats and vinyls used in car interiors and very safe on leather! The Optimum "Power-Clean" when diluted properly is very effective interior cleaner and not harsh on vinyl, plastics and leather as well! These two products are quite cost effective and kind of fall into the mid-price category like the Mckee's 37 - 70/30 leather cleaner and conditioner that you like and use! I have a few of the Mckee's products and I really like them and I'm going to get a 16 or 32 ounce bottle of the 70/30 Leather cleaner to try since I saw your demo of the small portion on the leather seats in the Toyota FourRunner! It did a great job and with minimal agitation! :-) I like your way of thinking on how you like being able to use the McKee's 70/30 cleaner and have a two step product instead of using a straight up cleaner and then having to top it off with some protectant or coating!

Thanks! Yes there are some APC's that are safer for leather than others but they're not the typical ones people grab when they think of a APC or what I see recommended in forums. And even McKees 37 has a Total Interior cleaner that they say is safe for leather. I might compare the two and see how they perform at cleaning. Love the feedback! Thanks!

i been using a apc for years on leather. i haven't notice no harm. I enjoy the meguiars apc.... it just gets the job done faster.... thats on dirty leather. but leather thats been taken care of.... u can use the dedicated leather cleaners.... or jus dilute the apc to a weaker concentration

You can try a spray wax to put UV protection down

It's a tie honestly between McKees 37 70/30 leather shampoo and Angelwax Heaven for Leather but due to cost efficiency I gravitate to the McKees product more. It smells better too imo. HFL sometimes kicks a little punch to the back of your throat. I tend to use products that are more lung friendly. So McKees 37 70 30 leather is my winner.

@@attention2detailswchelsea McKees leather shampoo I liked a lot also. I went through a gallon, I just wish it was a little cheaper LOL. I was always curious about HFL. The Megs leather cleaner has such a nice clean smell!

@@madwax1360 if you get it during their BOGO sales it's super cheap! Megs leather cleaner does have a nice clean smell but can be a little pungent. I prefer ones that smell like leather. Thanks for the comments!

Would 8:1 Super Clean suffice? It worked great on our 2017 highlander (first clean since initial purchase), but what are your thoughts?

I wouldn't recommend it being used on a maintenance routine as it could potentially damage the plastic coating exposing the leather. That's great it worked for you but on a more routine basis I would recommend a more pH neutral cleaner. Safer and leaves a nice finish on the leather vs stripping all the oils out of it or damaging the coating. But that's just my opinion! 😁
