i love how she chooses songs from her previous albums to her current album era. i think i'm a mother also feels like a is this desire? song, in my opinion.
*LOVE* Polly so much. And seeing and hearing her being interviewed by none other than David Byrne is just out of this world. Extremely hard to say which one of the two is weirder (I only mean "weird" in the best possible sense of the word and as a compliment).
"Is there a connection between humor and horror?" A clown takes a pie to the face, slips on a banana peel, falls down a flight of stairs. People are laughing at him uproariously. He falls down the next flight of stairs. People are still laughing at him. He lands at the bottom of the landing, head twisted backwards in a pool of blood...dead. If you can tell where it stops being funny and starts being horrific, you will have done something important.
Was actually very surprised to hear her say that contentment brings about creativity. I guess it's different for everyone. For me, the exact opposite is true. Contentment destroys true creativity. That's just the way my mind works tho.
He's referring to the theory that the best art comes from struggle/hardship. In that sense, finding contentment would stifle creativity, but that's obviously not the case for every artist. It's just meant to pick the mind of the interviewee.
I have disappeared down a rabbit hole of this woman's music. I can't stop listening.
What a wonderful rabbit hole it is.

What album are these songs from? I think the interviewer is from Talking Heads...
"Is this desire" is from the album of the same name (one of my fave PJ albums). "I think I'm a mother" is on "To bring you my love" a fine record too.
David Byrne

Why should anything kill creativity???-whats the sense of this question?

A question coming from an icon known as David Byrne from talking heads. The type of thought provoking question to keep the head talking
Ahhhh 240p limbo
David Byrne.. you got it wrong..haha
PJ is a man.
A woman.
I'm so torn on Polly Jean. Her dark pieces are absolutely genius. I can't get enough of them. But her uplifting fruity material is unbearable to me.
i didnt know polly had uplifting material?
Are you talking about her most recent two albums? Let England Shake has an uplifting tone but the subject matter is quite dark.
I know what you mean. I only like her stuff from the 90s. I respect her passion but it is just a personal preference I have…
PJ sounds like kate bush
