This is works based ideas, we are not to "evolve" merits in and of ourself , we have to live repented from willful sin and live near God and let Him mold us and shape us by the power of His Holy Spirit What seperates christianity from the worlds largest religions like Hinusim, buddhism and islam - is that Christianity is based on GRACE giftet by God , the worlds religions base things on WORKS , you re supposed to practice certain things and then the idea is that you eventually will get better merits , but God tells us "Your good deeds are like dirty rags" in the old testament , because God in the OT was longing for the time where He could take out the heart of stone and insert the heart of flesh ! the new heart is The Holy Spirit , and God says He will write the laws on our heart , and this is the time for that , we dont have to strive in our works but instead seek to be filled by The Holy Spirit freely by Gods grace , and live this new life near God , and gradually we receive the renewing of our minds , and these virtues that stems from The Holy Spirit is truly godly and something that is valuable to God , unlike the corrupted carnal human mind.
