@@a.j.montie1083 that must be an early run since Ridgid apparently stated a couple weeks ago that they'd been delayed until March. Who knows. I'm also hoping half size organizers will become available soon as well.
I’ve been using the ridgid system for over 10 years. Bought a set of the 2.0 and the small organizers…. This week I’ve bought 4 sets of packout drawers. Ridgid definitely for the price, but if you need variety, it’s packout. You’re impressed by the husky, but they charge too often and probably won’t be available in a couple years. Buy once, cry once. Thx for the video!
ive had my packout right around 3 years, i might have to buy another soon because it started leaking. it's always had weak drawers though which makes me want to wait until they have some sort of upgrade. the lock rings are soft worthless plastic, and the drawers really need to be stiffer. the box locking together is great and solid and the reason i buy them, but i just wish the boxes were stronger on the inside
Did you have issues with the handles that lock the boxes together? Mine wore out after a year of use. The boxes would come apart and fall off. I ended up ditching the system and went with another brand
@@mikestoolfun the rubber tore off several of the locking handles, but they all still lock/ unlock ok. I bought the packout drawers, but after a few weeks they are starting to sag… i have to push up on the lids to get the locking bar to lock. Think I’ll be returning these and try out the new stack tech by tough built, when the drawes become available.
I really appreciate your videos. Have the Ridgid 2.0 and am hoping they continue to grow the brand. Love the mom and dad score. They always no best 😂 looking forward to 3D printing my own and seeing what you con up with for the 2.0.
I bought the Husky build out 2 weeks ago, and was very happy with it initially. After ordering additional items to expand the system from Home Depot and finding out they aren’t available and HD cancelling my order. I returned the system and bought the Milwaukee packout. Yes it’s more money but I was able to get what I needed.
Like so many others, I have discovered that the tool you need is always in the bottom box. I’m getting really tired of taking apart a stack just to get that tool out. I’m trying to find a system with decent drawers (or build my own) that can travel as easily as these, and has a drawer retention mechanism that doesn’t interfere with other drawers. In other words, the drawers stay in place until you unlock them and whatever locking mechanism doesn’t just flop down over the drawer unit below. I’m thinking the Milwaukee drawers might be the answer, paired with the dolly. Durability and accessories also play a role. If you could do a review of the systems with drawers, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for doing all these videos. And your product designs are awesome! That also figures into my decision to be honest. If the system doesn’t have Weihe Design mod options, it gets a lower score. ;)
I run packout. The availability locally was a big factor, and the 4 caster roller was perfect. I do maintenatenance for automotive facilities. 2 drawer on Bottom, then 3 drawer, midsize waterproof box, midsize fastener bin. I wish they offered side mount options. Im also concerned with the sagging of the drawers after only a few months. Hot weather may take a massive impact. We'll see.
What I'd love to see (and nobody has done) is open up the case to examine the locking mechanisms. How much is plastic? How replaceable are the springs? It's great that the contents of the box are protected against moisture, but are the mechanisms? For those of us who work/live in coastal areas, having the mechanism rust and fail would be a decision point.
I use the milwaukee system. Forgot to strap it on the flat bed and the entire system full of tools (VERY heavy) was going about 35 when it left the truck. Some road rash and one box lock that locks them together broke. But all tools stayed in the boxes and the bottom cleats of the box with the broken lock are all still functioning as new. Wish the system was cheaper but ill never switch. A friend has a similar system by heart and it doesnt even come close. Broke his just by setting it down.
Great presentation on the boxes. I would have actually liked to see all the boxes on one video so thank you but also thank you. Now I actually have to check out your website too to see what other accessories you have for the Milwaukee packout the one thing you did not mention on any of the box systems under security the biggest problem that I see is theft and easy access to getting my property out of the boxes. A lot of people don't pick up on it, but it's the hinge systems itself. You can actually pop the hinges out and still retrieve anything inside of any box from the hinge side. I've spoken the Milwaukee. I've spoken reps. I've spoken to other big influencers when it comes to these videos on the packout system only, but as I've seen through your video with the other boxes they will have the same issues of theft. On the hand side, you can pop the hinge out and open it from the side of the hinge. Take it easy
Just bought the Hart one. Going into it, I knew it wasn't going to be as good as the others, but I wasn't using it for tools, and I had plans of modifying the inside of the cases. $74 for the 3 stack was perfect. The one thing that would have been nice, is if the cart was separate from the boxes.
Husky stuff , not just the box ,is actually very good for its price , i have use all brands , im not a Milwaukee fan boy , and husky hasn’t disappoint, people often overlook it for the low price .
Really nice videos. You speak well, introduce pauses, smile and narrate well. The pace of the videos are good, good angles, good camera and I liked and appreciate all the reviews, tests, feature descriptions and the test score in the end was a great idea too. You gained a subscriber. On the topic of the storage systems themselves...it always amazes me how the industrial designers/engineers miss obvious things YT reviewers spot immediately. I mean it is just incredible. Even the almighty packout system, clearly a winner in many people's hearts, does idiotic things like lid not opening whilst rear handle is extended and not being able to lock/unlock boxes with other boxes on top. It's as if they noticed these towards the end of their deadlines and had no more time to change it. But all that would be needed is to have focus groups....or even better...have youtubers get prototypes early on, with non disclosure agreement to publish the videos only once the company has finalized the product...let youtubers keep the product in return for feedback.
I wish other reviews were as complete and honest about the products as this one. It seems lately, most 'reviews' are actually just salesman's demonstrations like you used to see in the middle of the night on those shopping channels. Guys like Billy Mays going 'It slices, it dices!' is the vibe nowadays on 95% of the reviews on YT. They are not honest reviews, just a low quality sales pitch with Amazon links in the description. That's why I bought the worst mouse I've ever owned, the MX Master 3. For years, no one had an honest review of it and they led me astray. Thank you for being a good example to those sales-reviewer shills! Because Amazon links are fine, as long as you give an honest review.
I bought the Rigid over 10 years ago. Used them almost dailey, in and out of jobs . They still 👍 great. They just need the drawer units , and maybe a flip out bottom roller. I will also mention I have the first gen and second gen rolling box. I actually like the older one because I can lift it with both hands to put in truck, the handle goes down further.
I would say the most unique thing about rigid is that you can use the handle as handtruck for light items as well is having the ability to use small boxes instead of just big ones that can handle the wheels
Great vid. As a Handyman looking to expand on his current husky quick connect... this is incredibly helpful. While it does seem a whole lot like a commercial for Milwaukee as well as your gear (I get it, all good), it was INCREDIBLY informative. I may go husky (build out)... but that removable cart of the rigid REALLY draws me - as I usually leave some boxes in the truck. Although, from the sounds of it, not all of rigid's gear connects to it - sadly... nay... pathetically. A thought... pick ups... they have that 2x4 insert in front and behind the wheel well.... I LOVE that my current quick connect fits between the rear one and the tailgate. NONE of these do. Dare to dream I guess.
Probably Milwaukee because of how many things are available for it. I like that it has the fattest tires. But being an electrician i also really like Kleins thought on bender/broom storage.
I have the rigid also, use it for detailing and it's been great over the last year plus I ceramic coated the outside and added a little more rubber gasket for water leaks and it's been leaving it outside in heavy rain or leaving it on the the back of the cargo carrier
After numerous vids I finally jumped into Milwaukee… I wanted to like Husky for the colors alone, but not having the half stacking feature was a deal breaker.
I recently bought the old style Husky connect system and added the 2 drawer and cantilever boxes only to have the dolly handle break yesterday. My plan is to upgrade to either the Husky build-out or the Rigid 2.0. Thanks for doing these reviews as it will help make my decision.
Before these pack boxes came out, I used three of the Stanley fatmax 24” wide plastic tool boxes stacked on top each other and strapped to a hand dolly for mobility
For the money, I'd probably go with Ridgid. BUT, 99% of my workplace is Milwaukee, including tools, batteries, chargers, AND packouts. So I would be a fool to not keep with Milwaukee since my shift is open with each others equipment. But great video, very informative and a joy to watch. Can't wait to watch your mod videos since I have a 3d printer and always looking for things to print.
I decided on Packout some time ago, and I've managed to build out a decent collection at about 1/2 the current list price, thanks to sales and other deals. Perhaps the same discounts are available with other brands, but if you can figure out what you want and then buy it only when the prices are lower (and aren't in a hurry) Packout isn't as expensive as it seems at first. And I've never been disappointed in those boxes.
Fantastic video. Thanks for showing the variety of features. Have you looked at the Craftsman brand? I just ran across them when looking at making a solar powered portable generator at Lowe’s.
Really enjoyed your video! Recently started collecting milwaukee tools. I've purchased two pieces of my packout. The bottom two pieces . Was smiling at the end when ya gave Milwaukee 83pts. Thnx for posting !! 😁👍
I want the PackOut but "settled" for Rigid. I love Packout and the products give me the fizz, however as I'm just a professional homeowner and not a contractor nor bluecollar, there is 0 justification for that price-point for just the fact that it is "nice." I'm happy with my Rigid collection though.
Are the new Ridgid 2.0 systems as durable as the 1.0 system? When I looked at them in the store it seemed like they dropped down in durability quality. That you for this excellent show you produced.
I had someone else help load some tools in the back of my pickup truck one time. Turns out the top box wasn’t latched down, so I took a turn and saw the top box go flying across the road. It ended up with a few scratches on the outside and a small gouge where the corner first hit the road. I was very impressed with the durability!
I can’t believe that ridged is the only one that has made the drawers that can be attached to the wheels with handle. I don’t want to have to unstack my boxes anytime I want to get into my bottom box.
Great video and very informative. Just ordered my packout with the black friday pricing. Already ordered the handle removal kit , to fit it in my truck cant really wait for the manufacture to release sometime in 24, and saw your work top attachment so will check that out on your site as well as some of your other things. I chose the packout because i have seen them in use and think it will work for what i do.
It would have been nice if Milwaukee would have made room for the original organizer box on the pack out system. I have bought so many and without convenience now. Owell.
I’ve been looking for a stackable system for a while now and after watching all your videos and everyone else’s reviews. I was on the fence between the Milwaukee and the Flex and I ended up buying the flex stack pack. Seems to be better quality built than Milwaukee and I really like the gas assisted struts. Plus I like that all of the attachments and accessories are made by flex instead of third party companies
At 18:00, the latch design on packout is intentional. It is there to prevent accidental unlatching while in transit. And you wouldn’t open the bottom box without taking the top box off any way.
It’s kind of unnecessarily intentional then. No other box has it and I haven’t heard of anyone’s boxes coming unlatched during transit. And I actually do open it with a box on top of I need to get something small out of the tote inside
It isn't easy to control a point total for the specific brands' entire universe of boxes and accessories. Packout is CRUSHING everyone right now and there seems to be no end in sight. There are some things I like better with the Ridgid system but they don't have enough options out. If you only need the 3-box stack then maybe you can have a legit comparison but I'm not even in the trades and I use many of the pack-out options. One of the most important pieces pack out has that allow for a majority of my uses is the mounting plates. It's too bad Ridgid did not come up with a flat (non-wall hanging) mounting plate option.
the porpuse of the handle in the mod box is so you can open a middle one without takeing everything appart this is the 3rd video ive seen of your and you havent address that yet i think is a great feature becouse you have acces to any of the boxes with out having take the whole thing appart
Dang, and I have the Gen 1 husky pack out set lol I’d rather 3D print exterior attachments for it but would’ve loved gen 2 being able to stick together with it
Just grabbed the Milwaukee Packout. They have the 3 box system for $219 right now at Home Depot. Good way to start your system. Thanks for the video. I checked out all of the ones offered at Home Depot. Kept going to the Packout. Can't beat the whole system they have going right now. Endless possibilities.
I went with DeWalt tough system 2.0 because HD had it as a kit for $178. And Tstack, versastack, Stanley fat max pro stack fit with it. Was going to go with rigid but I read a lot of complaints about the weak handle and I was concerned they would not deliver on the options of products like DeWalt. Milwaukee was first choice but couldn't justify the money.
And yet I own the DeWalt. Is it a good choice? I have no idea, but considering how many Dewalt tools I have, it seemed the thing to do. It all seems pretty similar in the end. I actually have 8 of the Milwaukee screw organizers, I just liked how the old ones were built. And I have the top two pieces of the Rigid, but I have just used them to hold junk.
Been building my Packout since it came out. I have about 15 of the older parts boxes before Packout. Can't find them anymore/ I put an adapter on a couple so they would attach to the Packout. Milwaukee makes the best. I like Klein for electrical tools and have a couple of old RIdgid multi tools before Milwaukee made theirs. I have also bought a few mods for the Packout. I'll be checking out yours Jake.
Great video! with all the aftermarket mods these days does it really matter what system you go with? Basically buy what items you like and make adapters to fit them together. that would make good video content.
Which plastics are the various brands made of? Even without destruction tests, knowing thst would allow making some assumptions about durability. For example the DeWalt Tough System are [mostly] polyethylene, which performs great in the cold, whereas TSTAK are [mostly] polypropylene, which gets more brittle in the cold. The manufacturers don't always publish this info, but they often have the recycle numbers molded in somewhere. Edit: getting conflicting info of the Dewalt box materials. Some places list them as polypropylene and ABS
WRT the Ridgid system, do any other boxes, or combo of boxes, replace a "bottom" box and latch into the wheels? Excluding the drawer box, which I've yet to see, measuring them in-store says no. Which means I have to use a deeper box than I need and dig through it just to use the removable wheels. If I'm correct, Ridgid missed an opportunity here to have the most flexible system. Perhaps some enterprising third party could come up with a spacer or two that allows stacking and latching (to the wheels) of any combo of "non-bottom" boxes!!
This is without question, the best video of this type I've ever seen. It will be come a reference for me when showing systems to other users. FANTASTIC work!

I think husky buildout is here to stay. Connect has been around for years and been obsolete almost the whole time
ive had my packout right around 3 years, i might have to buy another soon because it started leaking. it's always had weak drawers though which makes me want to wait until they have some sort of upgrade. the lock rings are soft worthless plastic, and the drawers really need to be stiffer. the box locking together is great and solid and the reason i buy them, but i just wish the boxes were stronger on the inside
Nice
Toughbuilt has similar products that would be nice to see how they compare. Liked the video.
The comparison between these systems and StackTech is in the works!
If the system doesn’t have Weihe Design mod options, it gets a lower score. ;)
Packout makes 2 and 3 drawer units. They also have a unit with a flip up door that can be accessed while in the stack.
Pack out sells a dolly, that you can put the drawers or the big door unit on the bottom, plus you always have a dolly on hand.
For me Personally, the husky set performs great at a fraction of the cost
I run packout. The availability locally was a big factor, and the 4 caster roller was perfect. I do maintenatenance for automotive facilities. 2 drawer on Bottom, then 3 drawer, midsize waterproof box, midsize fastener bin. I wish they offered side mount options.
Im also concerned with the sagging of the drawers after only a few months. Hot weather may take a massive impact. We'll see.
There’s 3rd party side mount options.
Keep us updated on the durability 👍
This video has been extremely helpful. I’ve been torn with which system to go with and this video helped me decide.
Great job Jake, best comparison video on the whole web!!!!
Thanks! 👍
Excellent point! Hopefully, we will see it on an update.
Picked up 6 rigid 2.0 drawers today, excited to see what is to come. These drawers were long overdue
I agree. I have several Husky hand tools and am not disappointed with any of my purchases.
Thank you!
The drawer unit is coming. Some people have already found some.
I bought the ridged . I’ve been. Using for 3 months and they are tough for the price
Probably Milwaukee because of how many things are available for it. I like that it has the fattest tires. But being an electrician i also really like Kleins thought on bender/broom storage.
Ive got the original ridgid system. But I do electric so I really want that new Klein modbox. For what i do its head and shoulders abover the others.
Great comparison video. Thank you for posting.
I love the mom score and dad score!
Thanks, I’ll let them know!
Great video thanks!
👍
I noticed the new craftsman tradestack and I’m impressed with design. I want to get the Milwaukee but I do like craftsman as well.
I went with rigid 2.0 system. I got all three pieces individually for $141 plus tax versus the PACKOUT for $219 plus tax
Cool!
Excellent video, very informative, balanced, thorough and most helpful
Thank you!
Fantastic video. Thanks for showing the variety of features. Have you looked at the Craftsman brand? I just ran across them when looking at making a solar powered portable generator at Lowe’s.
Thanks!
I haven't really thought about or looked into but i wouldn't be surprised if the holes on the side of the rigid box would work to attach peg board.
Those two holes you mentioned in the Rigid boxes, perhaps you could design a rail system that screws into them?
It’s in the works!
39 minutes for the one question I had, backwards compatible rigid. I don't feel like replacing a system that works already if I can still expand it.
Are the new Ridgid 2.0 systems as durable as the 1.0 system? When I looked at them in the store it seemed like they dropped down in durability quality.
That you for this excellent show you produced.
Possibly a slight downgrade like a couple % points but 1.0 had its own set of problems. 2.0 overall is higher quality
Excellent video, looking forward to more
Thanks!
I had someone else help load some tools in the back of my pickup truck one time. Turns out the top box wasn’t latched down, so I took a turn and saw the top box go flying across the road. It ended up with a few scratches on the outside and a small gouge where the corner first hit the road. I was very impressed with the durability!
Which system?
I can’t believe that ridged is the only one that has made the drawers that can be attached to the wheels with handle. I don’t want to have to unstack my boxes anytime I want to get into my bottom box.
Great video and very informative. Just ordered my packout with the black friday pricing. Already ordered the handle removal kit , to fit it in my truck cant really wait for the manufacture to release sometime in 24, and saw your work top attachment so will check that out on your site as well as some of your other things. I chose the packout because i have seen them in use and think it will work for what i do.
The fact that you have to mod the Packout to take the handle off is a killer for me.
Valid. The aftermarket mods have gotten better but it’s still an additional cost when it shouldn’t be
It would have been nice if Milwaukee would have made room for the original organizer box on the pack out system.
@@JakeWeihe im totally with you on this. I wish they would have added just a bit more space between or just not have it at all.
As someone with a 3D Printer that also does 3D design; I feel like the Packout system would be the one I would enjoy using/customizing the most.
I just want to purchase some toolbox, this video helped a lot!
👍
Bottom box Ridgid drawers will be game changing.
Yeah if they come out and can keep them in stock
Patiently waiting
the porpuse of the handle in the mod box is so you can open a middle one without takeing everything appart this is the 3rd video ive seen of your and you havent address that yet i think is a great feature becouse you have acces to any of the boxes with out having take the whole thing appart
Dang, and I have the Gen 1 husky pack out set lol I’d rather 3D print exterior attachments for it but would’ve loved gen 2 being able to stick together with it
EXCELLENT review; thoughtful and obvious time invested in this video. “Keep on Keeping on!” Tim in northern TN
Very true
I went with DeWalt tough system 2.0 because HD had it as a kit for $178. And Tstack, versastack, Stanley fat max pro stack fit with it. Was going to go with rigid but I read a lot of complaints about the weak handle and I was concerned they would not deliver on the options of products like DeWalt. Milwaukee was first choice but couldn't justify the money.
Can’t argue with that deal for dewalt
I also did the same DeWalt deal a few months back. It's worked well so far.
I"m the fool that bought to full systems at full price. Didn't think to wait for a sale!
I'll be checking out yours Jake.
these are like mature legos sets, looks fun for art supplies even
Definitely a great use case
The connection mech on packout wins me over.
Probably going to put those roller dolly wheels on a buildout and maybe mount some rails on the front
I just got the husky plus crate and deep organizer with 2 hooks. Would love to see you come out with a husky line of accessories for us.
Dude I have a fastback everywhere too! They’re the best!!!
Great video! with all the aftermarket mods these days does it really matter what system you go with? Basically buy what items you like and make adapters to fit them together. that would make good video content.
Definitely an option
Which plastics are the various brands made of? Even without destruction tests, knowing thst would allow making some assumptions about durability. For example the DeWalt Tough System are [mostly] polyethylene, which performs great in the cold, whereas TSTAK are [mostly] polypropylene, which gets more brittle in the cold. The manufacturers don't always publish this info, but they often have the recycle numbers molded in somewhere.
Edit: getting conflicting info of the Dewalt box materials. Some places list them as polypropylene and ABS
Flex just released a bunch of new boxes and accessories that work with existing boxes
Yeah it’s about time.
its only been out a year and a half😅 Packout has had since 17'...love to think where flex will be in 5 years! @@JakeWeihe
Milwaukee!!!
Fair enough
The husky organizers fit snug in the MODBOX I have a small size with 4 of them in it
The clear organizers?
@@JakeWeihe yes they'll stack up to 2 in the small box on either side
Nice!
Amazing video
I really just wish the ridgid connection between boxes was better. I'm currently tied between mod box and packout
Have the Ridgid and pretty happy with it
Loves my Ridgid 2.0
I'm just a DIY'er but use the Milwaukee packout system. It seems to be a lot better made than the other systems I looked at.
I’m more on the diy side too. Investing in quality just makes everything go a little smoother
Electricians will buy Klein regardless
The only thing they won't buy and use with Klein on it is a broom and dustpan
