Hi Paul.
I just recently discovered your videos and was very impressed. I subscribed to you channel. I learned so much about One Pennies and had no idea that there were so many types of errors on the pennies.
I am from South Africa and also have a small collection of British One Pennies, but it is difficult to find then here for cheap. I can’t get any information on when the SA Union those days stoped circulating the British One Penny. My latest One Penny is a 1947 Penny. 1923 South Africa started to mint the same value coins than the British coins, but with the wording South Africa on them

Good attempt at filling the whole board with the usual rare dates absent. Shame this series is finished, but look forward to the next one 👍. What do you do with all the rejected pennies, do you sell them or keep them?

Something I've noticed with the coins.. They demolished the lighthouse when Edward VII came to the throne and obviously the wooden ship had sailed, but it looks like George VI rebuilt it... Hooray!! But were they simply removed from the design or did they resize Britannia to fill the space? And if they did, was that why the tides were higher?
Aha... as there is just one Saffer penny... I have decided the whole lot will have to come to me!

so pleased you picked up a couple more for the board .Getting everything from 1860 to 1866 was great going.. . that 1861 french five centimes with the A mintmark was minted in Paris

Thanks for another absorbing series of videos, Paul. George V featured the most with 41.1% of the coins being from that reign, the commonest date being 1936, closely followed by 1919 and 1917. Elizabeth II was next with 18.9%, but with the commonest date of all the dates (1962) and Victoria took the 'bronze' (!) medal with 14.4% with 1900 appearing most often.
Here's to the next penny hunt, hope it won't be too long coming!

Good stuff, that illusive 1919 kn is always troublesome. Great work, cant wait to see the next 1000!
I just love this series. I’m always just as fascinated at what shouldn’t turn up in the batch as much as what should! The South African coin for example. Amazing design.
I think it's a shame that they changed the coinage in 1860, debasing the currency is like an admission of defeat, once begun, there is no stopping it, look at modern steel coins with copper on them, (clad) as they say, now think about what happened to silver coins in the Roman Empire, which were constantly being debased, more and more up until the collapse of the Empire, it's a slippery slope I tell you!
Good conclusion but sad that it's finished (hopefully just for the time being). Good that even at the end there were spaces being filled up. Roll on the next batch!

This has been a long hunt, jealous, 1,000 pennies, I've never had 1,000 pennies!
in the second world war my grandad was a gunner on the illustrious. and he was hit with shrapnel but his leg was saved by a pre- decimal 1918 penny in his trouser pocket the coin was bent over but not quite in half [ so lucky] and i have proof of that it was left to me when he died
