Sumptuous, gorgeous, delicious. Michelle AND the movie. Yes, the "Makin' Whoopee" scene smolders, but Michelle singing "More Than You Know" so vulnerably is just breathtaking. Career made right at that moment.
@@anishgb and then whipped the heads off those manikins in the first take on the set of Batman returns... she is a professional...seems to be good at everything she does on film
My father told me this: if you know their name, if they are even the tiniest bite famous, then it is because they can do everything: sing, dance and act.
'ten cents a dance' was written in 1930. ten cents in 1930 are equivalent to two dollars today. two dollars for a dance with Michelle Pfeiffer is definitely worth it. : )
This is one of my all time favourite movies and Michelle steals it bit why hasn't someone cut a full album with her. I even emailed Dave Grusin about it guess what? No answer!
On April 29, 2024 she celebrated her 66th birthday. Michelle Pfeiffer is an American actress. One of the most bankable stars in Hollywood during the 1980s and 1990s, her performances have earned her numerous accolades including a Golden Globe Award and a British Academy Film Award, as well as nominations for three Academy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award.
I would love to hear her sing the Debbie Harry song "Send love through." It takes a voice like hers to make it shine. It's the song performed by the female lead in the animated US/Canadian film "Rock 'n' Rule."
One of my all time favorite movies .. hard not to identify with the Jack character ... when feeling a bit disaffected and wishing to not be in the routine rat race.
Frank having something important to lose. Jack? Maybe just the same for the most part. He didn't really care that much at that point. Hence the death stare. Suzie? Nothing to lose at that point. Forgot about any possible humiliation. She goes all in.
Point of order--might want to mention the songwriters. Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. They did not write any of the songs for this movie (which I have seen like twenty times). They had to do a whole lot of editing to get it this right. Pfeiffer had a nice voice, but wasn't a really experienced singer. She was so delighted over how she sounded when she saw the rushes, she tried to perform live--it did not go well. Because Life is not a Movie. You don't have nearly so much backup. My favorite rendition is Anita O'Day's, on an album of Rodgers & Hart standards--the arrangement here is much better, but here's the thing--O'Day was a marathon dancer as a teenager, during the Depression. If there was a tougher job than being a taxi dancer, that was it. You just kept dancing until you dropped. She came close to winning a few times. Once she was so tired, in a state of delirium, she had a vision of Jesus, asking her what she wanted to do in life. She said "I want to be a singer. Make people happy." Jesus said "Then that's how it will be." Obviously if they do a biopic now, they should cast Jonathan Roumie, but that's not the point of anything. Ella Fitzgerald's version is the most complete. Another album of R&H standards. But Anita's is the most lived in--except maybe Ruth Etting's. The point here in the film is, Suzie was an escort--so she's singing about more than just bad dancers. She was relying on the cards, but she loves this song, which speaks to her, so she knows it by heart. Or really--by Hart. ;)
For me.. The Best arrangement of this song! Michelle Pfeiffer's sings this with such passion & her voice gives me chills 🖤
Gets to the ground, stands up like a pro, straightens her crown, sings like a queen! 👌🏼
The Suzy Diamond songs in this movie are a testimony to the timelessness of good songs sung well.
Indeed
Stunning like no other actress

The audition scene gives me chills every time
apparently Michelle performed all the songs herself :O :O
@@anishgb she clearly did. She’s a very good singer.

Beautiful girl 😍
Michelle Pfeiffer is not only a good actor but also a good singer!
*actress.
@@DE5TROYER99 *the term actor has come to mean either a male or female person who acts.

@@faithinverity8523 “bite”?
Not that good. Honestly
This is my favorite movie. It's difficult to watch sometimes, but there it is.
love this movie, every cent of it....
Thanks for this; love every song in the movie.
She sure can sing and looks good doing it... has anyone ever looked better
Rita Hayworth in "Gilda". But I know what you mean.
I really love michelle pfeiffer!!
Pissed myself laughing the first time I saw this "What #$%%ing switch"
And look, Pfeiffer didn't need a stunt double to sing. A lot of talent from this girl.
Jeff Bridges' face at 00:49 when Beau starts singing to create a diversion...LOL, I'm dead.
Awesome performer Mrs.Pfeiffer
Should have won Best Actress that year. "Driving Miss Daisy" was one of those films that the Academy embraced, but it's largely been forgotten since.

Two bucks for Michelle Pfieiffer, I doubt it.
favorite scene in a fantastic flick!!

Damn, i wish i was born in the 90s 😍😍😍
I was, real nineties girl right here... as several of my t-shirts show! 😂

Ah, Michelle Pfeiffer, the last "movie star". They're all "actors" today.
one of the great modern films

Amo esta película. Perfecta Michelle Pfeiffer y extraordinarios los hermanos bridges
MORE love this movie and all in it
You said it sister
Body in motion really tends to stay that way. Love your song Feelings, BAK
I have never understood why this was not on the soundtrack.
Too depressing maybe
I love this movie
One of my all time favorite movies .. hard not to identify with the Jack character ... when feeling a bit disaffected and wishing to not be in the routine rat race.
DocDLH I AM Jack the Jack character -not for much longer though.
I think Jack is most Americans
Jeff really communicates a huge amount in this scene.
Also emotionally unavailable ?
Michelle Pfeiffer’s rendition of ‘Ten Cents a Dance’ compares most favorably with Ruth Etting’s from 1930.
If your a hetro man then you smiled through this entire scene. You can't help it
I had a couple bad days... came back and watched this. Still one of the best
Have covid. so do all my kids. I watched this, again, for "healing"
Ok, so it's always bothered me that Frank starts singing the main part of the song, but you only hear Suzie's voice.
Michelle won every single porre-0Oscaraward, but *J. Tandy at 80 won the Best actress Oscar over Susie Diamond insteasd
Best thing about this movie was Michelle Pfeiffer?

She goes all in.
Watch and listen to Doris Day in “Love Me or Leave Me” sing that song.
I did watch and listen to Doris Day (and many of the predecessors), and prefer Michelle Pfeiffer’s performance, hands down.
Do you think Joe ever gets mad as hell that Jeff got the looks ?
Excepcional, filme, música e atores.
It's a Very funny scene, but I like it! Lovely scene!!!
Splendida
michelle pfeiffer legend beauty face of holly wood she look gorgeous look like o doll michelle pfeiffer is resemblance of angelina jolie
favad jaan lool michelle was here before angelina angelina is the ressemblance not michelle
Michelle is Michelle. Not a resemblance of anybody
im sorry angelina can't hold a candle to michelle
Who is the red headed actress at 1:57 ?
And they never cut a soundtrack... not that I know of...
There is a soundtrack. Michelle Pfeiffer sings two songs on it. The rest is Dave Gruisin piano instrumentals oddly.
The opening of this scene is a bit ridiculous, but it's a fun movie.
Jeff wins the Oscar for Crazy Heart and it's a joke compared to this, a joke!!!
Jeff deserved it very well,-he even should have get for the Dude-its not fair to compare two very different kind of movie......
the shorter the dress... the bigger the crowd
UPLOAD THE WHOLE MOVIE IN 1080P.
