    A couple of friends and I visited the Bamboo Sea, a scenic spot just outside of Yibin, Sichuan, China. It's a fairly well-known place here in Sichuan, but not really anywhere else. It's a pretty local spot!
    It's A LOT of bamboo all clumped together all over the mountains of Yibin - but it's not just that. There's climbing, hiking, (possibly) ancient temples / places of worship, waterfalls, and more! It's quite a sight to see, and it's not one to miss if you happen to be traveling in this neck of the woods! Sichuan's a pretty awesome place - I really hope you get the chance to visit someday!
    Feel free to subscribe to see more videos about what it is like to be an American (or any kind of foreigner) in China! All are welcome!

    Have you all ever been to Sichuan? If you came here, would you go to the Bamboo Sea? Ever been to a place like it before?

      Austin In China .. Jiuzhaigo valley national park.. Huanglong. Must be the most beautiful place in Sichuan province. My wife is from Chengdu and we married there and went to that place for our honeymoon. Truly stunning. If you've never been Austin I highly recommend it. The airport is on top of a mountain and you land still in the clouds it's so high.

      Yeah, I'd like to go, I guess.....but the hordes of tourists are really off-putting. Sure, it's beautiful, but tons of people shouting and taking selfies are going to be really annoying and could ruin the ambience of the place and the video. Same reason I haven't been to Emei Shan. I'll go eventually, though! I know it's a must-see destination in Sichuan! We planned to go a few months ago, but as soon as we planned to go, there was a huge earthquake and they closed down the entire area. We were planning to go that very next weekend....so.....yeah, haven't been yet hahaha

      Have you watched the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"? They are fighting and flying above bamboos. That is the place they shot the bamboo fighting.

    7:21 to your left are some fresh bamboo shoots, hack them down, peel away the outer layers, you have a tasty nutritious dish.

      From Xinnanmen Station to the Bamboo Sea, it's 115 yuan. Hotel...about 100/night in the sea itself. Tickets, 110 each (students 50% off to 55 yuan). Food....depends what you eat, but about Chengdu prices, maybe a bit more expensive. Drivers wildly vary, depending on how good you are at bargaining. If you take 2,000, it'll be more than enough and you'll live like kings hahaha 1,000 at a minimum, and probably 1,500 probably would be a happy medium for two people. Altogether not the cheapest place, but I enjoyed it!

      Austin In China thank you so much for this details. but could you give me a name of a good hotel near to the bamboo place .or the name of the place that you stay in there ? because i dont want to be far from the visitors places.

    • @austinguidry2
      @austinguidry2  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't remember, sorry. There are people just inside the main gate of the bamboo sea advertising places to stay. As you drive around, you'll see plenty of places to stay as well - lodging won't be an issue

    so beautiful. forest ocean. what you think the real forest ration in the whole Sichuan or China? 70 percent in Sichuan 40 percent in China? I do not know. In Finland we could not see this kind of forest ocean , cause in Finland forest , mostly owned by individuls, so they cut them to sell to the world, but they managed it well , so from the plane , you can see areas with huge amount of very very very small trees to areas with big trees wating to be cut. Cause after we cut big trees, we grow very tiny trees immediately. Plus mostly in Finland it is plain, we do not have moutations, only some hills .

  • @mdg936
    @mdg936 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It seems you've added those autocorrection audio effects, if I had to guess from fcpx. Don't know why they offer those, because they only make things much worse, more alien sounding.

    • @austinguidry2
      @austinguidry2  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually make things much better if you know what you're doing. I forgot my camera charger, so I had to use my slightly broken phone to film this video :( :( But it'll be back to normal in the next video!! Believe it or not, the audio in this is MUCH better than what it was when I imported it into FCPX hahaha
      Just to emphasize - the normal camera will be back for the next video!

    Do you take extra vaccines when you are travelling around? What about malaria pills

    • @austinguidry2
      @austinguidry2  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No - no need for that stuff. The only vaccine needed for China is typhoid (one of the hepatitis ones is recommended as well, I think), and malaria is a non-issue unless you go DEEP into Yunnan province in the summer.

    Yibin isn’t exactly a “hidden” gem, it has been relying on travel industry for a couple of years now

    • @austinguidry2
      @austinguidry2  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, definitely not a hidden gem among Sichuanese locals and people in SW China in general, but when you consider the world at large, nobody's ever heard of Yibin, and it's reduced to a small blurb in guidebooks, if it's even included. Even TH-cam - the biggest video-sharing site in the world - has very few videos actually thoroughly covering it. I've got the 5th highest view count of all time on the search term, and the video's only been out 12 hours. Because of that, I feel like among foreign tourists, it could be considered a hidden gem, but yeah, definitely not among the locals
