Coming from the depths of Utrecht in The Netherlands, powerful
trio Black Sun Empire are set to follow their Beatport topping
fourth album 'From The Shadows' with new remix album
'Variations On Black'. Showcasing some of the most visceral and
volatile drum and bass you will hear all year, the new album
package is due for release on their eponymous record label,
Blackout Music, on late November 18th.
Alongside a selection of special VIP versions from the group themselves, the album features a carefully curated selection of artists on remix duties that draws together a host of the most talented and respected names in electronic music. Artists such as Noisia, S.P.Y., Phace & Misanthrop, Icicle and Ultrerior Motive, amongst others, step up to the plate with fresh reimaginings of BSE tracks.
With a collection of 27 tracks, knockout blows come thick and fast as each artist takes on the challenge with aplomb. Noisia's rejig of 'Arrakis' pays extra attention to the dark side, fighting against the odds with its larger than life tones and jagged saw synth movements, Ulterior Motive's twist on'Monologue' is crammed with perfectly tuned drumwork, and on 'Killing The Light', Icicle bites into a Halloween-esque, jump up style movement with sniper-like precision. Elsewhere, BSE deliver VIPs of 'Drizzle', 'Milkshake'
and 'Hideous' alongside Audio, Eye D and Noisia respectively, cranking up the pressure as they brilliantly rework them into new dance floor pummeling shapes.
Since bursting onto the scene back in 2000, Black Sun Empire have continued to develop their own unique style and sound. Releasing numerous singles as well as five full-length LPs they have established themselves as undoubted leaders in their field, driving forward not just drum & bass but electronic music as a whole. With their impressive DJ skills and forwardfacing productions, Black Sun Empire have reached far beyond their native Holland. They've toured the world over, with highlights including Glastonbury and numerous other international festival appearances, they continue to build on their growing reputation as some of the most exciting and consistent performers around.

The original Black Sun Empire - Arrakis made such a huge HUGE impact in the scene at the time together with Noisia's remix of Konflict - Messiah. Fondest memories I have of clubbing at that time.

since like 3 years ago this was my favorite song cause it found me somehow. i had a friend in FL when i lived there that longboarded like me and wrote these crazy messages about time and the future in these 2 books with crazy drawings around it and backwards writing. but he had the drum'n bass collection 07 i think idk but it had a CD of "Empress" which was what i listened to on repeat everyday while he listened to the "black sun empire, black sun song" idk the name of it but it was your CD. and he heard that 1 song over and over. and 1 day we switched CD's and my brain chemistry changed listening to it and then we both got sent to different hospitals for a week and i saw him once after that and never saw him again. he was like the speaker of the universe with how much he philosophized in time space and different existences of stories that tied into the human race. maybe he was crazy but i understood him cause his girl messed him up after a 2yr breakup and i ended his 2year long binge. it was the craziest story that is the reason i got the chance to move back to VA on my own and live with these roomates here. i heard that guy matt became a welder.

jus a random coincidence it happened the same week but his reason was he went to universal studios and got an audition for the tv show fear factor but when he quoted he was totally fubar'd he wound up there idk his story after but mine was my mom kept thinking i was trying to run away and live in my car but it was jus a tense year cause that guy was influencing me to trip on cough medicine at the time, but in reality i was the only person who was able to bring him out of his 3 year trip cause of a bad breakup he had with a girl he loved. soo basically i had to go into that whole realm to bring him out and i succeeded but it cost me a week in the hospital and the title of schitzophrentia from it. because of that struggle to break his curse. it was worth it i jus told him somethin bout our brains and somethin to do with a sponge i remember him throwing his hands on his hand saying "OOH NO!" and i found out he became a welder welding rollercoasters i even remember him reading about welding at the library in florida haha

Really wish Noisia released the let it roll 2013 version instead of this...! stil a good tune yes, but the let it roll 2013 version sounded WAY better then this!
This one has more atmosphere and depth. It's more "slow" and has more "value" if that makes any sense. It's really hard to explain. That LiR version was just brutal! Like i mean literally destructive. I don't think i have ever heard anything heavier then that :D
@@jakubzamazal well i love the LIR version more. I get what Noisia was trying to do here. But i prefer the Beat of the LIR version, more of a clasic DNB rythm.
