The Bach component of my Bach/Radiohead session on vintage keys was more of a continuation of certain themes which I'd been exploring, notably on my first solo album, Bells.
There are a few elements at play:
- Rhythmically, I focussed on keeping the groove going, not using any rubato as I would on piano/harpsichord - treating the Hammond like we're used to hearing it, in more of a modern (jazz/soul) context.
-The timbre of the Hammond serves to decontextualise the Bach from the various piano/harpsichord versions and their respective epochs.
