Long time Ardbeg core fan. Hated the Scorch, and basically gave up on their special releases... This is something I really like, bought it last year , loved it, and bought two more this year. Just had the first of this year's buy last night and as much as I love the core - love this much better/more. Sometimes in somethings to get say 20 percent better you have to pay 100 pc more. Perhaps this is such a thing. That aside, while I recall there was a special committee members only (free memberships so what's that worth?) i think it was pretty much the same as the one being sold all over. Then again the prices are all over the place. I just saw one for $699? And I thought $200 was pushing it.

Thanks guys. I'm in the same boat as Bart. I used to want to chase all the new releases when they came out before the prices jumped but now I have been holding and being a hit more cautious with the bottles I have been buying. Especially with the increase in prices all around.

It’s ridiculous what some of these distilleries have been doing with prices. At some point, customers need to take a stand and say “no, I’m no longer buying the brand”. There are plenty of alternatives out there.

I actually saw that bottle at R&J where the guys bought it and passed. Just couldn’t convince myself it was worth $200. Aggregate of the reviews I’ve checked seem to indicate it’s really good, but nothing to make it a $200 bottle.

Got the Scortch. Got the Ardcore. Saw the Hypernova but passed due to price and lack of being blown away by the other 2. Will look to core line next.

Uigadauhl used to cost $65 at Costco. I’d see it all the time. Now I can’t find one for under $95. I really enjoy it but it has surpassed the amount I am willing to pay for a NAS whisky

I am #teamardbeg and have enjoyed the Aardcore. I can get the Hypernova for $200, but that price makes me pause.

honestly i think i would rather have the scorch over this but i also like the Ugidail over any other ardbeg. Maybe i am different for saying so but hey that's just how i am.

I finally found an abc store in my area (NC) that had the Uigedail, which was what I went there for, and saw they had the Hypernova behind the counter for 200 bucks could it be that much better?

Man the hate for Scorch. I thought Scorch was great! Scorch is meant to be more oak and char flavor than super peaty but I wonder what the Committee release was like.. Also ~$130 > then paying $250-$300 for Hyper nova

Too many Ardbeg releases and have not been overly impressed.
Ardbeg special releases are almost victim to their own success, why fork out the cash when their core range is so good, readily available and affordable.
But of course I would spend some $$$ on a Dark Cove hahaha
