- Many of the teachings of Christianity are, as well as being incredible and mythical, immoral. I would principally wish to cite the concept of vicarious redemption, whereby one's own responsibilities can be flung onto a scapegoat and thereby taken away. In my book, I argue that I can pay your debt or even take your place in prison but I cannot absolve you of what you actually did. This exorbitant fantasy of "forgiveness" is unfortunately matched by an equally extreme admonition-which is that the refusal to accept such a sublime offer may be punishable by eternal damnation. Not even the Old Testament, which speaks hotly in recommending genocide, slavery, genital mutilation, and other horrors, stoops to mention the torture of the dead. Those who tell this evil story to small children are not damned by me, but have been damned by history and should also be condemned by those who shrink from cruelty to children.

Little Isreal was raised in a world of violence. Every nation around them wanted to kill them and make them extinct and tried several times to do so. Is it really so shocking that God stood with them so they could survive their enemies and their times of bondage? Their enemies also had gods that told them to kill and conquer yet no one judges them, mainly because they are dead....

So 13.8 billion years ago God created the Universe. As we are learning more and more the Universe is not only huge but, for our limited understanding, close to eternal. So God created all this, the black holes, the massive stars that goes super nova, entire solar systems and galaxies that gets born and destroyed before our sun is even created. Cosmic events far and wide we don't have the faintest clue about.
But never mind that cause on a tiny tiny spec on a spec in a remote corner of the Universe just a couple of thousands of years ago God decided to pick a team! And he decided to reveal himself to illiterate desert tribes in the most primitive parts of the Middle East. Not in China where people already could read, no in the most superstitious and illiterate parts of the world. "This is my dream team", God said. "I created all of humanity, but you're my favorite". And it's all "confirmed" in texts that originate from this very area. Hmm...not suspicious at all.

@@feonor26 Well the earth and universe isnt that old but otherwise it sounds like you get the gist of it. The universe isnt what you think it is. The bible actually explains all this in very simple terms. The sky is but a tapestry, woven and stretched. And in the final days of Gods judgment and wrath, the sky will be rolled up as a scroll before the final horn blows and the cup of his wrath falls upon the condemned. So yea.... It is also written that God chooses the weak things of the world to be stronger than the mighty. So yes, that is why he chose the jews to exalt above all. They were the smallest and the weakest people. In fact they were even dead wiped out when he chose them. Most people dont know this, but the bible also predicted that isreal would fall and be no more, and that in the last days God would bring them back to form a nation once more just as he did in the beginning. That part has already happened. Isreal was re formed less than 100 years ago. No other tribe in the history of the world that has ever been wiped out, was brought back, not once, or twice. If ever you needed proof, that is it my friend.
