Hi . I like your project on that forester. What you did for the ignition coils and the VVT sensor thats set on the FB25 engine?

Both engines were EJ25. Other than the intakes, everything fit nicely! Thanks for your support 🙏

QUESTION Hi there I just changed the engine in my 2009 subaru forester with a engine from a running 2009 subaru outback but now once installed I have no spark?
I didn't change intake and wiring harness like you, do you think thats the issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

The reason I changed the intake was because some sensors were different. It's possible that it would cut spark if that's the case. Closely examine both intakes and wire harness for differences. Also, test the coil pack. The bottom end of the EJ 25 will be virtually the same. If all else fails, try installing the intake that came with the car. Thanks for watching and keep me posted 👍

@thehonestmechanic thanks very much for the information
I switched the intake and wiring harness to the one from the forester and it started right up no problem 😊
Really don't see anything different other than coolant senor
But whatever it's running great now

@chrisv6008 That's awesome! Not sure either but that was the main reason I used the original intake. Very happy for you!

    I have a 09 legacy 2.5 n/a what years/models should I look for if I can’t find a decent 09 legacy to use as the replacement

That would depend on the parts you need. If it's engine parts, I know for sure that a 2006 EJ 25 block is the same as a 2009 EJ block. I simply swapped out the intake. Other parts will likely change slightly from year to year. The Legacy was popular so I don't think you'll have an issue finding one

What’s engine is compatible with 2010 forester

According to what I found during my research, older EJ 25s are like Lego building blocks. The heads have been updated over the years. Don't quote me but 2006 to 2012 blocks are compatible
